HUGE YMMV-TRU Markdowns starting Thursday December 2, 2004-HUGE YMMV

CAGiversary!
This is the markdown list for a store in the Atlanta area. Most of the prices ending in .95 or .99 should be nationwide while the .98 and .48 prices are the YMMV. From what TubTub stated apparently it depends on what isn't selling at your local TRU, so I guess the solution is dont buy games from TRU for a few months and mabye we'll see a 99cent Halo 2 LE or a going out of business banner...here you go.

There's one in Augusta where my girlfriend lives. They have the old school paper slips for their games, and you can take THOSE to any scanner in the store and have them scanned for price checks.
That's how all the TRUs I go to are--it's really nice to just take a dozen slips and scan them without having to deal with the employees.
And yes, it IS gay that the scanners aren't in the R-Zone.
I don't know if a situation like that can have a sexual preference.
And besides, here's an oxymoron for you: the TRU in question was crowded. A TRU crowded? A sight comparable to the Loch Ness monster: many have claimed to see it, but few believe it.
Incredibly, I witnessed the same thing at my TRU tonight. I even commented on it--"I haven't seen a Toys R Us this busy in close to a decade..." Could it be...the end of the world?

Maybe....just maybe....there may finally be a backlash against Wal-Mart. Remember, Wal-Mart was stealing business away from TRU.

People are starting to get hip to the fact that Wal-Mart might be bad for all other business and America in general.

Yes, I went to TRU today and it was pretty busy too. It seemed odd. I thought maybe there was a sale I didn't know about. Maybe it's just the normal Holiday rush and I just never noticed it before because I haven't shopped at TRU at Christmas time since I was 7.

My bf and I went Microwave shopping and all of the stores we went to were very busy (Walmart was particulary bad).

Yeah, all the stores I went to today were pretty much packed, I'm talking BF packed... why, lord knows... I frankly haven't seen it this busy this early before Christmas, but with less than 21 days to go, it makes some sense...
OK, I picked up three PSOne/LCD combos tonight--1 for me, 1 for eBay (I know, I know), and 1 for a friend. The good news: $39.98, and they still have (not kidding) probably 15-20 left.
I would be happy to pick some up for people, but I'll need non-credit card PayPal up front. After tax and shipping/insurance, it will probably be about $50, but I'll look into it further. PM me if you're interested.
PM'ed

The prices listed are def YMMV
I picked up:
Red Faction 4.98
Xenosaga 8.98

Wanted Sword of Mana... but it rang up as 17.48... was marked as 34.99

Had Resident Evil Outbreak marked at 8.98 on the rack... but still rang up as 29.99

Thanks for the heads up Lordopus,

I was able to grab these, as well as Sword of Mana.
Today I scoop up Fatal Frame 2 for 14.98 and Fire Emblem for 9.98.
I went to TRU and got a good deal on Castlevania: LOI for PS2 and Metal Gear Substance: Xbox.

I got both games for only $10.99. Castlevania was only marked down to 12.98 and Metal Gear Substance was a green tag game that was only $7.50 after you took 50% off. Then I used the R'Zone mailer coupon buy two games under $19.99 get $10 off and it brought it down to $10.99 so I got both games for $5.50 each! The best part is that the cashier let me keep my mailer coupon so I can do it again before it expires on Dec. 31. Today, was a good day :)

Also, they had Fire Emblem (GBA) for $27.98. So I guess some of these clearance prices are very YMMV.

I got today:

Xenosaga (PS2) $4.98 (Not GH)
Castlevania: Area of Sorrow (GBA) $10.98 ( I'm glad I've waited for this one :D)
Maximo: Army of Zin $9.98
Saw Fire Emblem and Swords of Mana for $10
Here is what I saw in Northern CA:

Xbox
Techu- $12.99
Medal of Honor Rising Sun - About $11 (I dont remember exactly the price)
Manhunt - $25.99 (the OP said he saw it for under $14)

So my findings are different
I saw the same at a TRU in Oakland, CA. It's priced at those amounts, but I didn't have them scan it to see if it gets marked an additional 50% off. Did you try having them ring it up?
I got today:

Xenosaga (PS2) $4.98 (Not GH)
Castlevania: Area of Sorrow (GBA) $10.98 ( I'm glad I've waited for this one :D)
Maximo: Army of Zin $9.98
Saw Fire Emblem and Swords of Mana for $10
Great deal on Castlevania Area of Sorrow. I bought that game when it came out when it was full price and it was well worth it.

I must say, Fire Emblem for $10 is a great game, probably one of the better games to come out for the GBA. Gonna have to find me a $5 Xenosaga....

oh man i am kicking myself bc i bought aria of sorrow about a month ago for full price.

Of course my tru rang up sword of mana for $26 and fatal frame 2 for $40 :(

They had the floor model of the psone with lcd screen, i played it a bit and the screen(which was first party) was not all that and a bag of chips, it was a decent screen, but certainly not worth more than $50(it is $50 used at gamestop for the combo btw)

Yesterday I picked up
Devil May Cry - $6.99.
I scanned Fire Emblem and it rang up for about $25. :( I wish it had been the $10 that others have found it for.

Yesterday, I picked up Manhunt and Unreal 2 for $9.48 a piece on the Xbox. They had these prices on games:

Xbox
Tenchu $7.48
Max Payne 2 $9.48
Links $9.98

PS2
Soul Caliber II $6.98
Xenosaga $5.98
Beyond Good and Evil $6.48
NBA live 2004 $7.48

If anybody could pick me up a $10 Fire Emblem I'd really appreciate it. I'd reimburse plus pay a bit extra for shipping and your trouble. Or I can can grab a $12 Sword of Mana from my TRU to trade.

Did you also use the coupon for 10$ off 2 20$ or less games :) those prices are good but you would have really made out like a bandit if you also used that!

I might be interested in some of them games if you can still get them & would be willing to help out I'll PM you

I just got back from a TRU in Emeryville, CA. I picked up Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance for 7.99 and they had a bunch of strategy guides that were 50% off the green tagged price sitting out on a table along with a bunch of green tagged PS1, Dreamcast, PS2 and Xbox games.

I went to TRU back on Saturday night since I was in the area of Jantzen Beach. That locaton's TRU is still old school, with the paper tickets and the bulletproof video game booth. Some of the games I wanted like Sword of Mana wasn't even on the wall! But I saw Hitman 2 for $6.xx and had to scan it. I also scanned Siren. Siren came up $19.99, and the Hitman 2 price really was $6.xx and I got it. There was a copy of Sword of Mana in the bulletproof videogame booth, but it rang up 29.99, pfft.

While I was there, I picked up Jet Grind Radio for the DC, and two Max Payne 2 guides for free. The FFXI guide was only $5 off at $15.99 for the Spring 2004 version, and another guide was half off for $7.49. I need to make a trip to the Clackamas and Lloyd Center locations.

I didn't have a coupon but I had my American Express TRU Gift Cards I just got for collecting all points :D

I know some of you PMed me about picking up games from this sale. I'm extremly busy this week and will get there Thursday(maybe). I don't know what they will have left. But I'll try.

Dude, I have a crap load of Amex reward points. I've got to get some of these gift cards.

I went there too. But the prices the OP quoted still wasn't consistant with my findings.
Or they should place a price checker machine for customers to use in the R-Zone. I hate how at all the TRU stores I have been to, they have price checker machines all over the store except for in the R-Zone
...but they do have a price checker...the cashier

Actually, I do notice that too - that TRUs have price scanners that are all out of range of the zone. I only know one store near me that still uses the ticket system and those tickets can be be scanned by yourself. But then again most of the tickets are not in their correct pocket and do not truly reflect their stock. Sometimes seeing the actual games in their plastic cases gives a bettere representation of their inventory.

I've seen:

Beyond Good & Evil (PS2) $11.xx
Ribbit King (PS2/GC) $9.xx
Siren (PS2) $20.xx
Arc the Lad Twilight (PS2) $7.xx

I think I'll check some of the other games others have mentioned.

whoa Castlevania for $10.98? my toys r us has like 7 of these. Hopefully it rings up at that price over here. Thanks for the heads up

TRU in Totowa, NJ:
Fatal Frame II PS2 $15.98 (yay!)
Sword of Mana GBA $18.98 (boo!)

I wonder if they would let me buy 2004 NCAA march madness and get the $10 EA controller. I have a coupon and all it says is an EA sports game, not which year.

Picked up Siren for $11.98 at the Culver City, CA TRU. Also the guy in front of me was picking up R Racing Revolution (PS2), it was in a display of $14.99 games. But it rang up as $7.99 so I tried the GCN version and it rang up $7.99 as well. Not a bad deal. Will probably go back and pick up Castlevania LOI since I passed on it last night.
...but they do have a price checker...the cashier
Yeah, well... find me one that won't be an ass when I ask a simple question...

Me: Could you scan these 3 games to see what their price comes up as? :)
Them: I'm sure you can read the labels we have out there... :nottalking:
Me: Yeah you're right... I'm silly... TAKE THIS, BIOTCH!!! :twoguns:

Just tell them you want to buy those games, and if the price ends up being too high, tell them you change your mind.

I was really interested in Castlevania & Fire Emblem I'd give you 30$ for both if you happen by chance to get both of them next time you make it to TRU

I visited Lloyd Center's TRU last night and was successful! No changed prices in the R-Zone, so I picked up Sword of Mana and Siren and took them to the cashier. Sword of Mana was $17.xx and Siren was $10.xx

Now since I'm hard of hearing and I've been told on these forums that Siren isn't hard of hearing friendly, I'll sell my copy of Siren to any CAG member. I put down alongx on my list next to Siren since I noticed a post from them asking for Siren. Either way, PM if you want the Siren.

:whistle2:o that might have been me, i got r racing revolution. Aria of sorrow is still expensive, and so is fatal frame 2, those would have been nice pickups, I am hoping they get clearanced after christmas

Only if you are black and were with two other friends. One of the guys there was buying a dvd remote, but the cashier told him it might not work with his PS2. The cashier was saying there is a playstation 2 plus (besides the PStwo slim thing) or something, I have never heard of that.

Nope not me, there is one cashier there that is pretty cool(the longhaired guy who looks like he has done a lot of drugs?) He alerted me to the $7racing evolution, and that bloodrayne was on sale(it was a few dollars cheaper for bloodrayne at the la cienega store so i got it there)

I am white and 5'9 and usually asking for price checks on everything in the store. :D

went to the only TRU in maine i think lol.... got:
beyond good and evil (6) ps2
soul calibur 2 (7) ps2
devil may vry GH (8) ps2
Sword of mana (10) GBA
castlevania AOS (18) GBA

my parents bought them for me for channukah tonight! SCORE!

I went to the Porter Ranch TRU in San Fernando Valley. Full price on every game I checked against on the OP list that was possibly a nationwide price.
I went to the Porter Ranch TRU in San Fernando Valley. Full price on every game I checked against on the OP list that was possibly a nationwide price.
There is no nationwide price. I went to 3 TRU today and prices were different in all 3 of them.

For People who PMed me. Castlevania was $19( I didn't even bother). I picked up 5 Fire Emblems for $13 for 5 of you, (TRU with $11 FE was empty) I'll ship them for $18 each. Please Pm me if you still need them. Otherwise I return them back to the store.

The TRU in Lloyd Mall in Portland, OR is actually closing. They started the closing "sales" yesterday and I headed over there. Picked up another Siren for $10.98 (I still have one left to sell to a CAGer), RE: CVx for $5.46 or something, my cashier kept pressing buttons on the register before I told him that was the price and showed him the list. I found boxes of Maximo: Army of Zin on the floor, but there was none in the glass case behind the cashiers or in the back. BUM. I also scanned Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga because it was the first time I ever saw it in the store, but still $34.99

This morning, I called the store and asked when the REAL store closure sales were going to start. They said to call back sometime next week and see, it would start at 20%. I don't know how much lower it'll get, but this store is the closest to me and easiest to get to. You bet your wallet I'll be going once a week!

Lots of copies of aria of sorrow at the culver city store, but they are ringing up at $30. I did get castlevania LOI for ten bucks and rtype final for $10 but that was it.

Also, R racing revolution is ringing up at $15 today, i asked the cashier about this, saying "wasnt the price on these lower yesterday" and he said they raised the prices.

They did this about 5 months ago during the green tag sale with games like soul calibur 2 and prince of persia(they were half price and then went back up)

Props to anyone who got aria of sorrow cheap. I envy you.

Oh and they would not accept my photocopied couopon for the "$10 of any 2 titles under $20" and i made a nice color copy and sized it up and everything. but still decent deals on lament of innocence and rtype final imo.

I was going by the OP's information that read:
This is the markdown list for a store in the Atlanta area. Most of the prices ending in .95 or .99 should be nationwide while the .98 and .48 prices are the YMMV.

The Castlevania AOS rang up at $29 for me here in Duluth, GA. So no dice.
try again on december 16th when they are supposed to have their next markdown
