Humble Bundle Thread

I was just hoping to get some easy unlocks.  I don't actually care about the co-op that much, and don't feel like jumping through a lot of hoops.  I'll guess I'll just earn them the hard way...

Risk of Rain is very soloable as most classes. It's harder for some (sniper though I did do it once and also unlocked the achievement for doing so much damage in 1 shot). It's great anyway you play it.

I had to wipe my save game in order to get the achievements again (the previous patch broke everything.) But I've gone much farther and lasted 30 minutes this time, I guess they tweaked some stuff while they were at it.

Grid, Half Minute Hero and Kickbeat are your bonuses.

I only had 1 of those 3.

I guess it's pretty nice bonuses for me.

Can't see it being anything that would push others to bta if they were on the fence though.

I already own Half Minute Hero, and have wanted Kickbeat for a while...

I might BTA and trade off all the stuff I don't want. How are Grid / Grid 2 for people who aren't much into racing games? The only one I like is Sonic Racing Transformed. :p

Kickbeat is cool as is Grid if you don't have it like me....wish we got Half Minute Hero 2....guess it's another copy to gift to someone.

It's not as arcadey as I would have liked but they are still good racing games. If you don't like Gran Turismo/Forza style driving though I don't think you will enjoy it very much.

I hear a lot of good things about kickbeat and half minute hero.  Already wanted Grid 1 as well, just hadn't gotten around to getting it in a steam sale.  Wins for me...

Grid 1/2 are way more arcadey than Gran Turismo/Forza. I told him to try Dirt 3 (since he has it), cuz it was the closest thing I could think of to the Grid games. Dirt and Grid are sim + arcade hybrid racers, or I guess you could call them simcade

Yeah I just prefer straight up arcade racers. He said the only one he liked was Sonic Racing so I figured he wouldn't really like Grids semi sim feel.

What if you don't have any friends to play with? I was hoping to just jump into a game hosted by randoms.
There's no matchmaking if that's what you mean. As was suggested you should check on the forums to see if anyone is looking to party up, but otherwise you're pretty much out of luck if you don't have people to play with you (and even then getting the MP actually working is in itself something of an ordeal).

They're more accessible than stuff like Forza/Gran Tourismo, while still retaining a simulation feel of sorts (it's not Need for Speed by any stretch). The game itself is excellent and really nicely put together, though people seem very mixed on the actual handling so I couldn't say for sure if you'd like it or not, especially since I'm not sure what the problems people have with it actually are. I've been enjoying it a lot though and would easily recommend at least the second one to people looking for something in between arcade and total simulation racing.

And like Spoder said, Dirt is probably a good game to checkout to get a semi idea of how Grid plays.

Yeah, Dirt 3 definitely hasn't been bundled or on sale for cheap.
I assume if he is struggling to pay an extra $5 for a racing he wouldn't know he would like he wouldn't pay the extra for another racing game he doesn't know he'll like in a different bundle.

Because Dirt 3 was totally the only game in those bundles. And there's also no possibility he wasn't given an extra key someone had lying around.

Are we going to do this all day?

It depends on how long you will be willing to argue with someone who is just in it for shits and giggles.

I think now would be the time for this thread to be infused with some tebow-style nonsense, Flowette Britishness, or sunasun hamburger pictures.

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Ah yes, matchmaking. That's the word I was looking for. Shows you how much multiplayer I play these days...

I haven't played much of Dirt 3, but I prefer Dirt 2, don't know why.
It's because 2 starts you out in races and 3 starts you out on a relaxing drive through the forest with no other cars. As a person who doesn't usually like racing games very much, I found Dirt 2 to be a game that I might play again and found Dirt 3 going straight into my "ignore" folder on Steam.

On a related note, I was going to skip the BTA on this bundle until you all started comparing Grid 1 and 2 to a racing game that I actually like.
You should already have the game unlocked in your account. :p

All that they ask for is that someone take a gift link.
Hmmm, it says that all 3 gifts were taken but one needs to be activated by 12/9 in order to unlock

About Dirt 2 vs Dirt 3, I think you're right. Dirt 2 is so much fun, really. I loved Dirt 1, but the handling was... How can I say it... It was like driving a carpet. Is not bad, but I didn't had that "I'm driving a car through different terrains" feeling. Dirt 2 solved that. Dirt 1 tracks were amazing BTW

About Grid 1. I suck at it, but even I must admit is one of the best racing games I've ever played.

Well, Dirt 3 is downloaded. It started in a tiny window and the mouse didn't work so entering the GFWL product key was a pain. And the damn announcers in the menus won't shut up. And the video card's fan went crazy -in the menus-.

You're not helping me here, game.

Those damn announcers still won't shut up. "Hi I'm here to explain blah blah blah" well they finally shut up by the third race. I did notice a huge difference after the second and third races - the second was in rain, the third was in a very dusty, dry area. It made driving harder but I got the hang of it.

I'm playing in casual, though. :p

So far, it's fun. So the Grid games are like this?

Heh. Never mind. I upped the difficulty to normal... and I can't even get past the first checkpoint in the very first rally race without driving off the road or crashing into a tree.

I'll be skipping the games, then.

But... that isn't even a racing game. It's an RPG.

New Humble Scholastic Audiobook Bundle BTA Unlocks:

 • Goosebumps Horrorland #4: The Scream of the Haunted Mask
 • The Invention of Hugo Cabret
 • The 39 Clues Book Two: One False Note
 • Infinity Ring Book 2: Divide and Conquer
New Humble Store Daily Deal:

That Hugo was a pretty interesting movie and an even more interesting book, but I think translating it to a wholly non-visual medium kinda misses the point.
