Humble Bundle Thread

In for $1. On the plus side, if Popcap doesn't end up being a weekly, then it'll likely be a natural BTA. That could work out well, since I'd be interested in beating the average on it.

I'm finding that it takes a lot to convince me to spring for a 6 dollar BTA...

Are Rock of Ages or Rising Storm worth $6?
Probably not. Rock of Ages routinely goes for 2.50 on Steam and other sites and Rising Storm has been bundled before, I think. EDIT: My bad. It doesn't seem to have been bundled before.

Rock of Ages is kinda enjoyable if you like Monty Python. It's not a good game, it just becomes a bit simple and flawed, but the art/feel of it is great. IIRC, it's been $2.50 a few times. It's not the sort of game I'd recommend to people, but if it appeals to you... it's a decent little diversion.

Do you like to roll rocks down a hill and/or do you like to get shot?

In all seriousness I enjoyed Rock of Ages quite a bit, and the Red Orchestra series is one of my favorite multiplayer FPS series. However, the multiplayer for Rock of Ages was dead when I played it a year ago and RO/RS is not the shooter for everybody. In RO/RS if you don't use your head, and move slow and rush only when you have to you will most likely die a lot.

Also in for $1 for ZC2. I will now have bought like 4-5 copies of KF, and I don't even feel bad about that.

ZC2 for $1 is good enough for me. Not really a fan of the first, but maybe cardz?

Rock of Ages is definitely enjoyable, but that's solely because of it's great Monty Python like ascetic and ridiculous nature (Matrix Leonardo da Vinci had me practically in tears). The actual gameplay is pretty drab though. It's basically a combination of marble madness/Monkey Ball and tower defense but it doesn't pan out as it's far too easy and towers are poorly balanced and feel superfluous to just rolling before your opponent. Controls are also pretty iffy (I played with a controller so I can't comment on KB/M) which can prove bothersome. I probably wouldn't recommend it for an extra $5 (can't comment on Rising Storm) in this bundle, but if the trailer got you interested then it's probably worth $2.50 or so on sale through Steam. It's just always hard for me to fully recommend a game when the most fun parts are when you aren't playing.

In for $1. Rock of Ages looks interesting... as a $0.75 game in a groupees bundle maybe, definitely not for $5. And I don't care for multiplayer or shooters, so Rising Storm is easily out.

However, IMO mobile gaming is overrated. I understand that this puts me in a minority again, but I just don't see the point. I'll play chess or word searches on a phone or tablet, but if I have a tablet and nothing to do, I'd probably rather be reading a book on it.
I have a bajillion games on Android all bought with me thinking "Even if I don't play it now, someday I'll be in a hotel room or train station or something and glad to have some games." In reality, I'm far, far more likely to read a book, watch a downloaded TV episode or play solitaire/mahjong than I am to bust out The Dark Knight or Sonic CD in the dentist's waiting room. A lot of that is controls; an okay experience wasting time with a simple game of solitaire is more enjoyable than a frustrating time with an arcade game that should be good but the mobile controls are ridiculous.

I keep buyin' them Humble Android Bundles though!

The Simpsons Tapped Out is free and not likely to get you charged with public lewdness or indecent exposure.

Depending on whether Rising storm is the digital deluxe version or not, deluxe comes with 2 characters and a new weapon (high capacity tommy gun) for Killing Floor. Dwarfs also has an achievement that unlocks an axe in killing floor (though this can also be done in the F2P version of Dwarfs). Considering its in the same bundle, it would be quite lame if it were not the deluxe edition. Rising Storm also comes with Red Orchestra 2

I love Santa Turtle! He brings me the nicest jellyfish.

I am going to go against the grain and recommend Rock of Ages. I also really enjoyed the Super Monkey Ball series and Marble Madness, so keep that in mind.  Has it been cheaper? Sure.  Did it come with 5 other games of varying quality?  No.

I don't know why I bought this for Zeno Clash II; I hated the first...

I do sometimes play games on my mobile devices but, thinking back, it's been low key stuff like Knights of Pen & Paper and Dungeon Village where frantic tapping or controls weren't an issue.

Santa Turtle loves you but he's all out of the nice jellyfish right now. Have some grumpy jellyfish instead: :oldman: :oldman: :oldman:

I have everything but Rock of Ages, which I've been WAITING to get bundled.  However, it's not worth $6 to me, when I know it'll be on sale for at least $2.50 again, and I'm pretty sure I remember skipping it when it was $0.99, since I thought it would get bundled.  This is not the way I wanted to see it bundled.

It's likely that all of us suffer from media overload, which is an extension of CAG digital game hoarding. The curse of the digital age is that we can have all the media created from the past fifty years, and everything that's being created now. Our devices, from our Master Race PCs, tablets and smartphones (yes I'm ignoring the console and handheld game peasants) hold a mountain of games, books, comics, music, podcasts, TV shows, movies, magazines and who knows what else. When I travel (which is a lot), just carrying my notebook PC, iPad and Android phone allows me a ridiculous amount of choice in entertainment/distraction... but I spend most of the time in the airport or plane working with MS Office anyway.

Which means ultimately that for many of us 90% of the media we buy will be backlogged. Most especially games, which can take the most time to consume for a single title purchase. I've given up trying to thin my backlog and just think of rolling around in my Steam/GOG/GG library, if I could convert all the games into physical boxed copies.

You can save them to external hard drives/SD cards/thumb drives and roll around in those. That's what I do w/ my 1200+ Steam and GOG games. I'm like Scrooge MbDuck.

Edit: Between xbox, wii, playstation, and PC, i probably have around 300 games or so in my backlog

I can't imagine having 1200

I'm sure i'll get there eventually tho...

Ouch, external HDDs would hurt. I prefer to burn them into imaginary 5.25" floppies. Skyram, 360kbs at a time.

So, does Killing Floor here only come w/ the base game?

Or does it come w/ DLC?

It it comes w/ DLC - what ones?

I already own KF base game from ages ago.

Just the bast game. To be fair though, you need zero DLC because it's all cosmetic stuff and variations on existing weapons. They've added tons of other stuff to the game for free over the years (maps, modes, weapons).

(1) Transfer games to Datasette
(2) Unspool miles of magnetic tape
(3) Weave tape into sexy garments
(4) Wear your games forever
Still doesn't sound as comfy as my method where I have all my games transcoded into Quipu* and then I play in giant pile of them, as happy as a kitten in a web of yarn.

*A knots in sting method of recording information.

To get the full Scrooge McDuck effect, fill countless pieces of paper with either a "0" or a "1". Then store/roll around in your games stored in binary form. Harder to keep organized, but that's half the fun.

That's Scrooge MbDuck to you, fella. ;) I'm not getting sued for any copyright infringement over this.

Lol. My bad. Thought it was a typo. In that case, do whatever you like. I have no idea what the hell Scrooge MbDuck does. For all we know, he just stares pensively at a vault full of money, furious that he never learned how to swim. :whistle2:k

Scrooge Mb(Megabit)Duck programs video games about himself bathing in all the Bitcoins he owns because actual swimming is too exhausting. ;)

Did something happen with the Humble Store that I missed? When I load it up, only 10 games show up. I'm guessing it's just shenanigans caused by the super out of date browser I'm using on this antique netbook but even on this thing it was showing more games a few days ago.
