Humble Bundle Thread

Is it me, or are a lot of the Humble Bundles turning into Amazon DVG's recent sales?

It's as if HB knows they got the masses now, so now they joined the complacency club. They seem to be putting more emphasis on the Humble STORE than their Humble BUNDLES.
I'm feeling lately that the era of the bundle as we knew it is coming to a close. IR is useless, Groupees is suck, Humble is double suck. Steam sales are no longer anything to get excited over, GMG is putting limits on vouchers, and Amazon is basically dead to us. I'm just feeling lucky to have gotten in on the golden age of PCDD when I did. When Indiegala wises up and axes happy hour and $1 bundles, I'll be out.

let's make our own bundle site that shows these dumbasses how its done

Humble has been going steadily downhill since Sequoia Capital took over.  Similarly Wolfire Games, the guys who started Humble, made a nice profit and development of Overgrowth is at a snail's pace.  After six years it's still in alpha with no end in sight.

What exactly can you even fit in 40+ DLCs? I know this is Paradox, but wow...
Lots of different looks for units and lots of additions to the soundtrack.

To be fair to Paradox, only 7 are anything non-cosmetic (Islam, Republic, Rome, Rajas, Old Gods, Sons of Abraham, Ruler Creator). Sunset Invasion could count, though I think it is the dumbest thing for them to have wasted any time on.
I think Sunset Invasion might be the neatest idea for an expansion ever.

Plus Greenman is restricting its coupons while offering less appealing deals and Gamersgate hasn't run a decent sale this calendar year.

Selling what games? The common thread, of course, is that all of these sites and stores are selling the games, not publishing them. If the publishers are balking at Humble Indie Bundle level prices, or the bundles of Amazon's heyday, then what are the sites supposed to sell?

I wouldn't think a seeming downturn from just about everyone at the same time is coincidental.

So you're saying we should go find Phil Fish and bring harm to him because it is his fault?

Alright, so it turns out every gift link gave 4 copies.. so... I got quite a bit. They've fixed it now, unfortunately.

Humble totally redeemed themselves today.
Hook me up too, if Drabe gets something, I need it also. This just became a bloody war. How much you want?

You're telling me people wouldn't pay for Sunasun's "AJ Lee spnasky simluatir 7000"?

fixed

But Mass Effect Trilogy for $7.50 was pretty decent if you're a fakecag like me and didn't already have it.
Was even better picking it up for $5 from a reseller who couldn't sell their extra copies for $7.50.

Are you the Hammerwatch vending machine? I have .25 in pink yogurt tops for you.
The vending machine's already running a little low, but PM me.

Price to be negotiated in PMs.

That's one way to look at it, but I'm just saying that I like the idea of flash sales that really are limited in availability at better sale prices than they would otherwise be during the promotional period. Done right, these can provide a huge boost in sales, even after this short window. As an example, I jumped on Amazon's Prototype Pack flash sale for $7.50 back in November 2012, but they still sold a whole lot of copies the next week at $9.99.

Recap days are nothing new for sales and have been used consistently by both Amazon and Steam, to name just a few. I'll agree with you that two full days might be a bit much, but it's not like Steam hasn't done that before.
But... I don't care how they divvy up the deals. I want the maximum number possible.

I don't see an issue with recapping Flash Deals if they were indeed the top sellers.  The appeal of a Flash remains there.  Not all of them are going to be top sellers or get recapped so if you want the best price you still have the incentive to keep track of them.

:oldman:

Goal: more deals;

Method of achieving goal: don't care

Here's a question: did anybody actually pony up $1 for this daily? If so, can you tell me whether the CK book is only a PDF or does it also come as a MOBI and EPUB?

Ponied up $1 for CK 1 and the book, but I'm fascinated that the average purchase is >$10. For that amount of money people are getting a game that has been on sale numerous times for ~$5 and has appeared in at least two bundles for considerably less.

So did you just get the first chapter of the ebook and the other 37 chapters are DLCs (purchased seperately, of course...)?

Blast it. I was thinking of buying Outlast in it's last few hours of being on sale but the damn thing won't add to cart.

I'd guess that a rather small number of buyers are just beating the average. Instead I'd guess there's a pretty even split between $1 and $20 buys.

Also, remember that for a large portion of Humble Bundle customers, Humble is the only bundle site that exists.

I hadn't considered that, but I suppose it makes sense.

This is true but CK II was in the Paradox Bundle last August.
