I called Nintendo for a Pin 72 connector expecting to hear "we will ship one to your house for $$ if you give us your mailing address". I heard Nintendo carried them. The Pin 72 connector is the part that wears out first on the old NES systems and is the reason why they fail to play games. I called them and they did in fact have the Pin 72 connector, but could not sell it to me. They offered to direct me to a Nintendo representative who could install it in my system for $39, but I told him I was not looking to spend that much and asked why he could not sell me one. He explained that the reason why Nintendo cannot sell a Pin 72 connector to me is because someone could hurt themselves using a screwdriver and it would be Nintendo's liability.
How can someone hurt himself trying to use a screwdriver to the extent that he needs medical attention?
My point of this story is that it is a shame that companies have to be so careful against frivolous lawsuits. Someone please comment on this (and not with 'try e-bay).
