I cant stand Greatest Hits!

Video games are toys guys. That's all I'm saying.

To get all picky about cases is stupid. I'm sure you all have more important stuff to worry about rather than if all the cases match.

Who gives a fuck?

Play the damn game, have some fun, hit the gym.

LOL - awesome post (and so very, very true).

I absolutely hate Greatest Hits cases. I honestly do not have a single one in my collection.

And to make it worse, I hate it when a game goes Greatest Hits on xbox, so that when people see you playing it, the icon for the game has been modified to make it Greatest Hits as well.

It's like, all those people who refused to buy Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution because it did not have a non-greatest hits version of the packaging? They're dumb. They missed out on an excellent game.
I guess I am somewhat the opposite...I can't stand owning a "regular" edition of a game when a GOTY edition or "special edition" comes out later and includes a bunch of extra crap. At that point I can't help but feel like I own the inferior version and I just want to get rid of it for the GOTY version.

This happened with LBP, Borderlands, and Fallout 3...now I feel like I don't want to buy LBP2 because a "GOTY" version will arrive in about a year and I'll have to have that version. It's lame, but that's my version of OCD.
This. That's why I'm waiting for Red Dead Redemption GOTY edition.

Back when they first came out, I really disliked the grey repackaging of PH games, but now I usually dont care too much. However, it is true that sometimes the GOTY edition comes with bonuses, like Fallout 3 and their expansions.

But like some other people in this thread said before, if you get the game early enough, you can avoid the GH version.

you have to be ocd to care about what color the case of your game is.

granted the red is fugly but my games are just stacked in a disorganized manner in an armoire anyway.

I have GoW collection, Burnout Paradise, Dead Space, Soul Calibur 4 and Uncharted in GH cases and I could care less. It didn't make the games any less enjoyable for me.

I think you guys should do what others have suggested and get the clear cases for replacement or just throw away the red cases and put the GH games in a cd wallet.

The only time I look at my cases is when im looking for a game to play and the extent of it is finding the game I want and taking it out and later on putting it back.

I don't care at all which, although if they're the same price I'll go with the black label or GH if there is bonus content.

Although my first GH was a little disappointing, I've come to realize that it doesn't matter what is on the outside, because the inside is all that counts. I guess kindergarten actually taught me something.

Does anyone know if artwork gets cut off though for GH to make room for the GREATEST HITS panel?

My biggest complaint about Greatest/Platinum Hits is that EVERYONE on Ebay and to a lesser extent Amazon just lists EVERY game under the generic original retail release artwork. Some will say clearly in the listing that it's greatest hits in the very last line.

I usually buy most of the time on release week so I get 1st editions of game I really care about. I've always been the gamer that beats/bored with it and sell it or when the new version comes out i'll sell it and upgrade. In the past couple months i've been collecting all the sealed CoD games though. OMG what a fucking pain this greatest hits shit is. It'll say 1st release edition but if i'm gonna pay more for sealed I like to ask the seller nicely is this the same package art as in the picture, etc. I can't believe how many times they say no it's the first platiunum release. It's the same exact game... Or it's brand new 1st edition never played but yea no shrink wrap... People are shiesty be careful!!

I honestly didn't get the whole GH/PH thing for a long time but understood from a collection standpoint you wanted the original. Now that I am walking in your shoes i'm pissed off how hard it is. lol Luckily i'm about done with a complete sealed Xbox & 360 set. Have 95% of the hard to get stuff and waiting for all Black Ops to drop, RELEASE THE DAMN ZOMBIE MAPS ON LIVE ALREADY!!!

EDIT: Although I wasn't complaining one bit when Walmart had all those $10 GH PS3/360 games on BF. LOL I stocked up resold several and played then made profit of a few more. :)

this is the only shit that really bothers me:

i mean really. wtf i still can't believe this shit.
Well said :applause:

I totally agree with some people on here. The red cases just irritate the crap outta me, they just are just not as asthetically pleasing when next to the 50+ clear cases that make up some of my collection. I steer clear of any GH collections at all costs. I guess I suffer from some minor sort of ADD. Hey at least i'm not having to count the steps to my door backwards.
So what do you do with the NSMB game on the Wii where the original case is red.....

That's disgusting. It's a cover on a cover. And the fake 3D effect. Goodness, what were they thinking? Do they even know a thing about graphic design?

I have that game with that cover and I think it's hilarious.

I prefer non-GH to GH but if a good deal presents itself I won't refuse to buy it or anything. I'd like it if they were less gaudy (PS1: neon green, PS3: blood red, NGC: bright yellow) but what are ya gonna do. The 360's platinum hits are actually one of the more palatable options, and I'm a fan of how the Wii straight up doesn't have them.

Actually though, the new PS3 GH are pretty offensive. How much more shit could they possibly cram on the Uncharted 2 or Heavy Rain covers?
