I hit the Jackpot in the 360 lottery!

*SIGH* I'm continuously disappointed by the tone of this forum. I've never seen this number of anti-social people on any other forum before. If you think my original post is "funny", or take pleasure from attacking it, you need serious help. I am not exaggerating or being factious-you literally need medical help. You will find that hilarious too

Anyway thanks for the few that actually gave meaningful responses.

...Anyway, there's a bit of a bragging tone in saying "guess what I got". I suspect the reason for a separate Bragging Rights forum is because some people react so negatively to this (myself included).

Call it what you want, I don't see any reason for someone getting upset because something nice happened to another person. Being a normal human being I assumed others would post what they've gotten recently.

You then go on to introduce some notion of "which is better, 360 or PS3" into the post while this is the microsoft gaming forum. No way that's going to go well...

Another *shrug* to that. It's a reasonable thought. Not my fault if the religious zealots go ballistic because anyone suggest they wonder which should be their main GAME PLATFORM. Geez
Good for you. If you have enough money to buy and support both consoles, go ahead. As far as which console is your "main" console, I don't know. I would say overall the 360 is better NOW, but the PS3 will be better in the future. You'd be better off making the two consoles play roles. You'll buy and play online games on the 360, and solo games with the PS3. Works out.

Nice impressions on the Falcon, I'd like to get my hands on that if/when I get RROD'd.

And yeah, the d-pad isn't great, but the 360 is fps heaven anyway, ain't like you need a spectacular d-pad.
Yeah, that's the thing that sort of makes it okay-most modern games don't actually make much use of it (though some do). You notice how crappy it is even just navigating the menu system. It blows my mind people actually play VF5 on this or Street Fighter 2. I'd take my SNES copy of the original Street Fighter 2 over the 360 version any day. If I was still into fighting games, I'd already own a Playstation 3 (come to think of it I guess I will be getting Street Fighter 4 for the PS3...)

Weirdly, one of my 360 pads-my wired one-actually DOES have a fairly solid D-Pad. Not as good as the Playstation products (or earlier pads) but it's functional. All my wireless ones have randomly required more pressure to register in a direction. Sometimes a normal amount of pressure registers, sometimes not. I hope they fix that eventually
Man don't you feel dumb. Don't you read your MS 360 FAQ before you go trashing a broken 360.
No, I don't feel dumb at all. The unit was out of warranty when I got rid of it, I got some money for it (and didn't misrepresent it), and I've got a better version of the 360 now. It's a bit quieter, should be cooler and more reliable, etc.
the problem with being the best console fo the future is that this generation is technically already 2 years old.....consoles dont usually have a big future until the newer better thing comes out..i guess sony will be making the PS3 slim when the PS4 has been out for a year
I don't think we're very far into this generation. If you look at the last generation, it's STILL going pretty strong. The PS2 is still really a current gen system, and it's been on the market a full 7 years in the U.S. (the PS2 and Wii are really wrecking the whole "current gen/next gen" labels!)

One analyst actually thought it was on the 360 this fall to perform well-that this was it's last big shot to pull massively ahead of the PS3.

Most console sales don't happen apparently until the $200 price point is reached, so technically it could be anyone's game still. I really think both systems are going to be around a long, long time. Generations have been getting longer, and if the PS2 could go 7 strong years, I think the PS3 and 360 may top even that.

Although at the same time, technology hasn't slowed it's progress at all. PC hardware was already better than the consoles when they launched, and a year or two later has absolutely destroyed it-and 5 years from now...

On the other hand, the PS2 still manages to impress me sometimes. I mean artists are as important to the look of a game as the technology, so who knows.

I rent them.
I have a lease with an option to buy.

Do you live in a 8x10 cell?? I don't see any other reason you would trash a console. Even a original NES shouldn't be trashed.

Not only could something happen like a new warranty that did happen, but you may need something from this one for your new one.

I have a friend that sold his for parts for about 50 bucks on crai** l*st. It doesn't take up so much room that it needs to be gone. Throw it in the closet/garage or somewhere. Sell it or something.

It's just a waste and stupid to destory things unless you're getting paid to on TV or some crazy thing. Another one of my friends on Live busted a disc in half. Stupid cause he could have gotten prob 10 bucks at Gamecrazy or something.

I don't even want to hear about it if you're rich or some shit cause then what are you doing on this website to begin with.

Seriously...when i bought my Xbox360 it was like I hit a lest gen brick wall....stopped playing my original xbox and ps2 all together..got rid of em and dont miss em (minus shadow of the colossus)....the PS2 might still be selling strong but not for people who have current gen systems....also once the consoles drop below $200 (still a while off) the new system will be right around the corner...i remember when the xbox 360 first came out the PS2 and xbox bundles were still at/around $175-$200

I'll say it again. I *sold* it. I don't have a great reason to keep broken worthless hardware around, and I wasn't paying Microsoft 90 gajillion to "repair" it. I didn't even need it this year until now (had plenty of other games).

I'm the furthest thing from rich :(

I love 360 graphics, but I've never had a problem playing older stuff. Lots of PS2 games are impressive to me-heck, lots of 2D DS games and PSP games are impressive to me.

And I just started Fable (picked it up a few months ago for like $6 thanks to CAG)...and IMO the graphics are just beautiful, despite being "last gen". (I've got it hooked to my SDTV right now though since Fable's not widescreen and can't really take advantage of my better TV).

You're welcome.

Look, I probably gave you the benefit of the doubt more than anyone else, but from the sounds of your complaint you're just weird. You know who would react well to your original post? Friends. Real life friends that you tell this to in real life. It's a fine passing comment for them, but hardly post worthy.

When strangers read this it sounds like flame bait. Your post was probably read as a "look what I have" post. Consider:

You mentioned you have a PS3 and had 3 previous 360s and "discarded" your old one before buying this new one. Why provide this information unless you wanted to convey to the reader, "I'm rich and/or privledged, bitch!" People always react super-well to that.

PS: you're doing it again, right now!

You then ask "which should be my main console" WTF is a "main" console!? Do you only have one input on your TV? This isn't a real question.

Again, if you do want someone to pat you on the back, go brag in the bragging rights forum. That place is filled with posts like that and people patting each other on the back. Alternatively tell your real-life friends who will undoubtably be supportive. I don't know why you expect throngs of strangers to be supportive of your original post, or care if they are mean. Good god man, FAIL! is fun!

Finally, and I can't stress this enough:

I like to make werewolf movies!

None of that makes sense. I DON'T have a Playstation 3. I never said I did, in fact I pretty much said I didn't. Obviously I'm saying my prior 360 situation because that's what we tend to do when talking about the various revisions, and also for WHY I'm so happy to have pretty combination of parts available for the 360. I reread my original post, and there's not one thing in it that's strange or out of line. It's just straight forward informative about what I got. On a normal forum, I'd expect people to post the results of their recent systems.

You then ask "which should be my main console" WTF is a "main" console!? Do you only have one input on your TV? This isn't a real question.

Of course it is. If I'm not using a 360 as my main system, I'd only be buying a handful of games that I absolutely have to have and can't get elsewhere, otherwise I'm buying stuff for another platform.

Generally people on forums get to know each other, care about this stuff? If not, why are any of you here?
