I just bought a N64

Demontooth

CAGiversary!
I'm excited about this purchase. I went from the Playstation to an XBox so I missed out on all the N64 games. I won a MIB Nintendo 64 game system complete with 13 games, two controllers, a tremor pak, memory card, expansion pack, and all the cords for $68.50 shipped.

The games include:
Donkey Kong 64
Goldeneye 007
NFL Blitz
NFL Blitz 2001
Pokemon Puzzle League
Star Wars - Shadow of the Empire (MIB but no booklet)
Mario Kart
Diddy Kong Racing
Star Wars Episode 1 Racer
Army Men - Sarge's Heroes
Madden Football 64
NFL Quarterback Club 1999 and 2000.

I went to EBGames yesterday and bought Perfect Dark for $3.99 and Rogue Squadron for $2.99.

Congrats on the N64. Pokemon Puzzle League, Golden Eye, and Mario Kart are some of my favorite games of all time, let alone the N64.

Personally I can't play a FPS on the N64 due to it only having one analog stick. Goldeneye is definitely the best one on the system, so if you don't like the controller with it, don't bother picking up any others. Just my 2 cents.

Back in the day I played the crap out of Goldeneye, but I it doesn't hold up today IMO.

That aside there are quite a few really good games for the N64. Super Mario 64 should be your #1 must buy at this point. (Unless you've already played it on a DS or something I guess.) Both Banjo games are also great and similar to M64.

Congrats on the N64 - it's a wonderful system but I think you overpaid. A used system is only $15 and as you know games are $4 and less. it seems like you could have bought it for a lot less and only Goldeneye, Mario Kart and maybe Diddy Kong and DK64 are the games worth playing out of the bunch, IMO.

Be sure to check out:

Mario 64
Banjo-Kazooie
Banjo-Tooie
Jet Force Gemini
Zelda OoT
Zelda MM
Wave Race 64
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Paper Mario

Actually I think some FPS may have let you use 2 controllers to play it. (So you'd have two analog sticks.) Can't remember for sure on that.

Oh yeah and Wave Race 64 was probably my personal favorite game for the sysytem. Four different racers and each actually control somewhat differently. It was a real challenge to win the top difficulty series with the slow top speed/high acceleration rider IIRC. I replayed it a bit 6 or so months ago and it seemed to hold up pretty well. (But I would definitely see the game through rose colored glasses.)

And Paper Mario is definitely a really good game. I picked it up for the first time at the Game Crazy 3 for $15 sale. Still very fun.
Welcome to 1996.
In 1996 my daughter was born and we moved into a crappy apartment and we had no money. So I didn't get to do much gaming for a few years.

I may have overpaid some, but around here Donkey Kong 64 is $15 and the expansion pack is $20. Mario Kart and Diddy Kong are $15. I'm OK with how much I paid.

What a coincidence... I am about to head out to sell my N64. ;)

Actually, it isn't my N64. I sold my N64 and game collection back in 2000. The N64 and 4 games I have now were found in a garbage bag along with another N64 and complete Dreamcast. One of the N64 even had the memory expansion. I have no need for any of it, so I am going to go get my $5 trade in value or whatever they give for this junk these days.

Well I am back from Microplay and they offered me $35 for the N64 and games. I would have gladly taken it except they didn't have a single game I was interested in. Guess it will get bundled up for Ebay.

Also I never knew DK64 required the memory expansion pak. :whistle2:s

Yeah, and the expansion pack costs $20 'round these parts.

couldnt make a better list if you tried

Don't forget, Resident Evil 2 is on the N64 too. If you don't have it on another system, it is a nice little addition. They compressed all the FMV from the PS One version and the FMV looks pretty good IMO. The in-game graphics are sharper and clearer than the PS One version also.

looks like you got a decent list of games. I'd go ahead and by Zelda OOt because thats the only 64 game worth spending a bunch of ours on as of now.

SF Rush 2 and SF rush 2049 is great games. I own a n64 too, have about 13 games myself. Right now i am playing hybrid heaven, golden eye 007, golden eye 007 the world is not enough and perfect dark.

you should get a superpad though they seem hard to find these days

Im not a wrestling fan but that Revenge game is sweet. And super cheap, less than $3 most places. Don't forget Blast Corps, and NFL Blitz.

Pilotwings 64
Zelda: Majoras Mask
Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Paper Mario

My favorite N64 games, but I prefer the Zeldas on GC, due to controller preference.

I would advise picking up Mario 64, Blast Corps, Extreme G (the 1st one), and the 1st Turok. All are great, and should be pretty cheap. Also, if you have any interest, pick up Wheel of Fortune. The N64 version is so damn bad, it is funny as hell. The voice work and animation is almost Way of the Warrior bad.

Congrats! N64 was first-person platformer rich, if you like those (I do). Mario 64, both Banjo games, DK 64, etc.

I haven't seen anyone mention Starfox 64 yet - also a fun game.
