44 cents, 44 strategy guides. I went to 4 gamestops today, and I got 23 guides in one gamestop in manchester, nh. I bought a few penny guides, then the manager said he was supposed to throw them out at the end of every week and asked if there were any more I wanted. I said I'd take whatever he had, but that I didn't see anymore. So he said that since he had to go through and toss out the penny guides anyway, he might as well go through them. So right then (around 7 p.m.) he started going through all the guides, and 20 minutes later I walked out with 23 guides. I got fire emblem, final fantasy tactics, la pucelle, super mario 3, zelda four swords, grandia xtreme, .hack 4 etc. Actually he didn't charge me for them (he said only a jerk would charge someone a penny), so it was really 21 cents for 44 guides.
FF tactics or Tactics Advance? I am interested in both.
Tactics advance, but I only got one of those though and I'm keeping it. I also got 2 zelda collectors edition guides at one of the other gamestops (not the one where I got 23 guides), I was going to ebay one (they go for 30+) but instead I gave one to a friend and I'm going to keep the other. The guides I have double of are p.n.03, soul calibur 2, ncaa football 04, mario party 5, drakengard, jurassic park operation genesis, rise to honor, megaman zero 2, gladius and smb 3. Most of the good guides I could only find one of, and am keeping.

you invaded my gamestop !

Sorry stealthy, only have one fire emblem guide, and I'm using it at the moment. Though try toys r us, I was in one today and noticed the green stickers are now 70% off and they had fire emblem. If you can find it it's only 4.50.

The only guides I'd trade are the ones I have doubles of, everything else I'm keeping because I either have the game, or maybe someday I'll have the game. Even if it isn't useful (like in sports games), it's still nice to have with the game.

I dont understand this, at game stores they have to throw away the guides after a certain amount of time so they will sell them for a penny? Do you have to ask about it because I've never seen any out that say there a penny. And why would they have to get rid of them after awhile?

You usually have to ask for a price check, occasionally you'll find a few priced for a penny but not very often. There's a list on CAG but I haven't found it very accurate. Normally if a guide is old I ask for a price check, and more often than not it's a penny, though PC, GH etc. games rarely have their guides clearanced. I don't know why they're supposed to toss them, but I'd guess its just to make sure they have room for all the new guides. EB actually seems to have more, but they also tend to go through them often and toss the penny ones and aren't even supposed to sell them for a penny. I've never got a penny guide at eb, and looking at previous posts it seems they often refuse to sell them even if you do happen to find one. Gamestop rarely goes through their guides which is why most stores I go to I find at least a couple that I recognize. The employees are usually more than happy to price check the guides as well. Toys r us also has a decent amount of penny guides, but I've never actually found one and don't bother looking anymore. Basically the only one worthwhile is gamestop, and the majority of employees seem to know that they have guides for a penny, they just don't know which ones and are often suprised by the games (especially things like zelda four swords). Though this was the first and only time an employee actually started looking through them for me, so don't expect that much help. Many times they have guides that have been a penny for months, just no one has realized it.
