Evening guys, been on duty for 24 hours now, and I've been paged about 10 times for ridiculous shit. Incredible for what's normally the quietest building on campus.

I don't have an entertainment center anymore.

All of my games are in boxes.

A Texan somehow earns a scholarship to Harvard. On his first day, he's walking around the campus and starts to get hungry. He stops the first person who walks by and asks, "Excuse me, but can you tell me where the cafeteria's at?"

The man responds, "Sir, this is Harvard, and at Harvard, we do not end a sentence with a preposition."
Not missing a beat, the Texan responds, "Sorry--could you tell me where the cafeteria's at, asshole?"

CoD3 isn't that bad if you've played some of the really shitty WWII games(Hour of Victory). The "story" was cornball as fuck though, especially that one "hick" character. That's what really pissed me off about it.

I still don't know how to use punctuation properly. That's you'll rarely see me use : or ; I don't even know what these are ` ~
I still don't know how to use punctuation properly. That's you'll rarely see me use : or ; I don't even know what these are ` ~
Use a colon ( : ) before a list of three items or greater. Semi-colons ( ; ) are essentially "stronger" commas. Anywhere you can use a semi-colon, you can use a period, so you don't really need to bother with them. I don't think I've ever seen ` used anywhere, so I have no idea what it is...
The tilde (~) is used to signify approximations. For example, water bottles cost ~$1.25.
Examples or GTFO. :D
I posted earlier this morning stating that I had to have a girl transported to the hospital for alcohol poisioning last night, so look through my posts for those.

At 4:30 this morning, I got paged. We have a pretty strict policy here regarding guests, as in you have to be signed in by a resident of the building to enter (we have 24 hours security at the entrances). This may seem extreme to many people, but our campus isn't in the greatest neighborhood of a pretty large city (Boston), so we have a lot of outsiders (ie homeless people) try to get in.

So, I get paged this morning that there's a guest who can't get in touch with her friend to sign her in. Normally, the policy is "too bad," but the supervisor of the security (which incidentially is my other job during the week), tells me the girl is really upset, crying etc. So I figure I'll be a nice guy and see what I can do.

I get down there and she starts bitching me out. She's drunk, she's telling me that I'm an asshole, and that the guest policy is unfair (she thinks she shouldn't have to be signed in). I started to explain why the policy was in place, and she absolutely went off on me about how she didn't care. So after her yelling at me for about 45 seconds, I shout at her to sit down and STFU. I told her that I'm the only person who can decide if she can come into the building or not, and if she didn't apologize to the security officer and I for yelling at us, and that I was going to explain to her in detail why the policy was in place... or I would call the police and have her removed for tresspassing (which I have the authority to do on a private campus). She listened, and I helped her eventually, but I couldn't believe the girl was flipping out at me after waking me up at 4:30 AM because her friend shut off her cell phone.

Today, I had 3 pages where they paged the wrong person. I wish I was joking. I went to go deal with the situations and called the security office stating there wasn't anyone there. "Oh, I guess it was another building." Incredible, and a complete waste of my time.

Also, I had a resident bring in her own bed for a medical reason. The university doesn't allow people to remove furnature (aka the bedframe) without approval, which she had, but our facilities department is basically closed on Saturday nights with a few people on call incase a water main breaks or something. They, and my supervisor said they we couldn't help this poor girl and she'd have to keep both her beds in this tiny single bedroom which clearly couldn't fit both beds. And she desperately needed the new bed because she had emergency surgery this morning. So finally, I broke the rules, flipped over the bed and kicked it apart and threw it in my office here. It's pretty ridiculous that at a major university everyone says "Too bad, wait till Monday."

But ya, that's just sample of what I get paged for in one 24 hour period. Keep in mind that I'm on call 1 out of 5 weekday overnights and weekends a year (all year round) and have to deal with this crap.

Glad I never inflicted any crap like that on the RA's when I was in college. Especially the crap with the girl who was drunk and acting like a real bitch trying to find her friend.

You have my sympathies on that one, lordwow.

eBay games up. I found the guide for the first DKC, so I just listed all three games and guides as one lot. I'm hoping for good things.

Grandmaster Flash is so money. He's rapping about voting on this track (and while I would never vote for Jesse Jackson, who GM Flash was supporting, it still kicks ass).

Ya, she got the brunt of my "I've spent the last 2 hours dealing with getting someone sent to the hospital" annoyance, but unfortunately, our university is getting more and more expensive (it's about $42k/year to live and study hear), so a lot of the kids are used to getting their way (or having mommy and daddy do it for them), and have a real sense of entitlement when they don't have any. I don't like to go power trip on people, but someone telling me what they think their entitled to when waking me up at 4:30 in the morning is pretty annoying.

I would have just called the cops on that bitch who yelled at you, lordwow, especially if I were woken up at 4:30 am to put up with her shit.

Honestly, Liquid, I was very close, but at the same time, when I call the Cops on someone, it requires about 2 pages and 3 phone calls worth of paperwork for me. And it means waking up my bosses at 4:30 in the morning which means I can get some attitude if they think I'm in the wrong.

And sometimes the cops end up being like "whatever." It's annoying to me becasue a lot of the stuff I've had to deal with is stuff the security office is too lazy to (ie the security officer could have just called the cops and avoided waking me up at 4:30 AM). But I will deal with that when I supervise the security on Monday morning and will speak to the boss there about my co-workers.

When someone wakes you up at 4:30, and you're trying to help them out, with them pulling attitude? Bad move on their part. They should be happy you didn't send them off to the cops for public intoxication and tresspassing.

Hmm. I can get Dead Head Fred new for $27 at GS, and LCS used for $14.50, for a total of $44 after tax.

I could 'em at BB for $42.40 after tax and have LCS new, but I'd have to use cash and not credit. :whistle2:k

I've always been so-so about Seth Green. He has great talent but I thought he wasted it a bit recently. But after seeing this, I realize I was wrong.

Ya, I guess it's not just limited to the university setting (it's the same in retail jobs I've worked). But ya, looking back on it, I always try to do what's best for people and help them out (I mean that's pretty much the only reason to be an RA for nearly my entire time here other than the free housing). I even bend the rules sometimes (like with the bed) to help people out when the system gets in the way (we're constantly ranked in the top 10 schools of "Long Lines and Red Tape," not something to be proud of). I think if I hadn't been up since 5:30 AM that morning (Because of course I supervised the god awful 6 AM shift the morning before I was on call), my judgement would have been to have her arrested. I took down her name though, so I'm considering sending her through the judicial system for some minor violations which may teach her a lesson.

Some people report that the 50% off takes 50% off the second game no matter the price. So You buy a $clearance PSP game for $16 and then get 50% off a $40 PSP game. But the more expensive game has to be scanned second.

On the plus side of being on call, I can't go get food anywhere except the university dining hall (which serves the worst shit on Saturday because most people aren't around), my girlfriend is brining me back Chicken Parm from a local Italian place.
