CAGiversary!
For as long as i can remember, i've always wanted a sword fighting simulation game. i'm not talking about the swordfighting in Red Steel, personally i've never played it but before reading the reviews, i already know that it's gonna suck. Why? because the attacks are already preset... right slash, left slash, stab. you might as well press buttons. i dont want that kind of game. if the moves are preset, then it's not sword simulation. think how in Wii Sports, your tennis swings are already preset. you can only do a forehand and a backhand... but with no variation in angle. i'm talking about the kind of simulaiton where you can swing at about a hundred different ways, and the game can pick up on exactly how you're swinging. the wiimote already has that kind of sensitivity and precision and it's just up to the programmers to tap into it.
Everbody's been waiting for the true revolutionary game that can come to par with the controller. i say make the sword fight game! so far, nintendo has only modestly implemented the use of motion in its launch games: i flick my wrist to slash in zelda, but why not just use the buttons? aiming and shooting in cod is miles better than using an analog stick, but the reload and change weapon motions are glitchy. excite truck lets you steer with the controller and i think that's somethign refreshing. the fact that you can use motion in these games is a good start, but hardly revolutionizes the gameplay. i think the wiimote can handle a lot more and developers gotta start giving the credit it deserves.
