If I could have only one thing for Christmas it would be General Gaming Thread #18
I'm married, have 4 kids, work, and I'm going back to school for my masters. How do I find time? As someone mentioned earlier, time management. I make sure to have some "me" time everyday. If I didn't have that time I'd go crazy.
Time management is necessary. It's the number one best way to get shit done.
Still working my way thru Chrono Cross at the moment. While I'm digging the story, the combat is a bit frustrating at times. There are also just so many characters to recruit that I'm finding myself using only a select few and not even bothering about the rest. Just wondering if this was okay, or if I'm actually gonna be forced to use the voodoo doll for something other than to laugh at.
I think I pretty much did the same thing, though I really don't think it matters.. It's been a long time since I've played but I just remember using who I thought were the coolest, not the most useful.

Alright, so.. My PS2 analog sticks are dry and they stick in certain positions. I don't really want to buy a new controller.. Is there like a certain grease or something that I need to use to oil them up?

just woke up and checked out the new xbox live update. some neato stuff. stilly trying to deecide if I'm going to download indigo prophecy off the xbox originals, or continue my year long search to find a physical copy. any suggestions?

Download it and realize that it's not that good... you'll be glad you don't have a physical copy.

So much potential tragically wasted.

storytelling in that game was great and the presentation was A+. but granted, the simon mini games took away from it slightly.

Yeah, I hear you about the time thing InuFaye. I can only play later in the evenings when the kiddies are asleep and wife/life duties are tended to. Since I've come back from out-of-town vacation, I've been lucky enough to be able to spend some quality time with Mass Effect, though.
storytelling in that game was great and the presentation was A+.
Yeah, in the first half of the game or so. Surely you played through the end..

Ohh, I need to restrain myself from ME long enough to try the Culdecept Saga demo. Sounds like a real nerdgasm.

Also need that widescreen add-on for Bioshock. Wish they had that in from the beginning--I'm not that far in, but it would've made the intro all the more exciting. Oh well, I'm guessing I still won't finish that game any time soon...
Yeah, in the first half of the game or so. Surely you played through the end..
The end does get bad, but I still really liked the game. Very unique.

I hope it evolves into something awesome. This generation seems pretty lack luster so far, considering all of my favorite games in the past 3 years were ps2 games.

I agree. this generation has become bogged down with shooters galore.

Hey, there were some awesome games, like Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, Uncharted....oh wait, not shooters? Damn

Was Condemned considered a shooter? That was an awesome game :p

SL4IN:
Ill check on Indigo Prophecy when I get home.
If I still have it and its sealed ill sell it for 8 shipped
not sealed 7 shipped.

I can send it out tommrow.

I think eternal sonata or dead or alive 4 is the best game this generation that was not a shooter.
Maybe a lot of shooters, but gott damn so many of them were so awesome...
Very true...still, I miss adventure games and platformers. Uncharted and Ratchet were pretty good, even though they both focused on shooting. At least they weren't first person :D

no if it was gamestop I would sell him my opened game as new.

Just kidding on the multi-tired prices- I was going with the next-generation pricing skus.

I shall go all New generation on your ass and offer you the game at a flat rate of 7 dollars shipped.

that'll be fine.

speaking of this generation, I haven't had any games just awe me like I did last gen. there where so many good rpgs and action titles last gen that I'm still buying and playing through some to this day.

this generation has become over flooded with shooters. out of the ones I've played, (i've played every major shooter except for CoD4) the only ones that really pulled me in where the darkness and bioshock, both 2K shooters. and condemned was a great game as well. I just want the variety I had last gen.

Dang, if that Indigo Prophecy deal falls through, I'll bite on it. It's like $12 at EB/GS used, and I can't bring myself to pay that much for it.

I think variety is gonna be hard to come by this generation because of how much it costs to make these games.
Shooting things is always a safe bet.
Or not.

See Kane and Lynch for an example.

I have a feeling all the imginative stuff is gonna get left at the drawing board because of low projected sales figures.

agreed. when last's great last gen games like indigo prophecy, beyond good and evil, and prince of persia, not to mention many other solid platform/action adventure games weren't selling as well as games like halo and the bogged down final fantasy series, that really says something about the mass consumers of video games.

they don't want change and innovation, they want to force fed with what is popular at the time.

Prince of Persia sadly turned into Assassins Creed.

No one knows what michel ancel is doing , and if we will get a bge seqel.

I have some hope for games, and not the sequel mess we are stuck in.

I didn't see anything wrong with Assassins Creed. I'm sure the next PoP game will still come, but AC is a great game IMO. I love the setting.

CoD4 is all kinds of awesome. It's not in the vein of the shooters you like, Sla1n, but it's immersive nonetheless. Plus it has a solid multiplayer with leveling and unlockables. If I weren't playing ME, I'd be playing CoD4 right now. I think it's worth a try.

Even if you think you're burned out on shooters, you gotta play CoD4. Easily game of the year (although I haven't played Mario yet).

It's just THAT good.
Cod4 sp was to linear for my tastes.
I'd like to know what recent game isn't linear?
Cod4 sp was to linear for my tastes.
CoD4 MP is where it's at. If there's any knock against the game I guess, it's that without Live / PSN it's not GOTY.

SP is really sweet, but I agree it's a bit linear.

So guys, since no one answered before. I got rid of my copy of Persona 3, and I want it now. Should I grab a coppy before it becomes deh rarez? or just wait for fes?

Oh, and as for non-shooter current gen games, I've got: VF5 (Xbox 360 Version of course), Guitar hero (Which shouldn't count, as there were last gen versions), Oblivion, Mass Effect (which is actually an RPG), Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.

I loved the single player, it was amazing IMO.

Online is amazing too, but I agree the game wouldn't be as good without Live/PSN.

Speaking of COD4 though, I may end up owning both the PS3 and 360 versions because there's people on both consoles I want to play with. I wish cross platform play existed.

I don't think that P3 will become rare, but it's so worth owning so grab it asap anyways.

And Ratchet and Mass Effect both have a lot of shooting in them :p

Okay, that is true.
Really? Just one?
I don't care how linear a game is as long as it's totally fucking awesome as COD4.

I've been playing lots of FF7 lately. I've had it for 10 years and never beat it. Played up to the last dungeon 3 times and got bored. I swear, I'm gonna do it this time! Also been putting some time in on Disgaea psp, lego star wars TCS, and HL2 here and there.

If you do pick up the 360 one post up so we can play sometime.

Also, anyone have any experience with any of the following casual Wii games? Thinking about renting one from Gamefly to try and play with my parents when I get home next week.

- Cranium Kabooki
- Smarty Pants
- Carnival Games
- Game Party

I already have Wii Sports and I owned Wii Play at one point so I'm not really interested in either of those.

I was most interested in Cranium, but then I heard you needed special glasses, which I doubt Gamefly sends it with. I'm also very interested in Smarty Pants since it's trivia, and me and my family are trivia nuts. Anyone that has played any of these please post up impressions, and if someone can clarify the Cranium glasses thing for me, that would be rad.

Thanks.

I'll take your advice with CoD4, I loved CoD (when it first debuted on the pc) it was a such good game, CoD2 was ok, and CoD3 was the worst in the series (partly because it was a different team that did it). But CoD4 looks really good, and I really want to try it. It will definitely be one of the games I pick up this christmas break.

now, about your question, I can't say for 3 of them, but carnival games is a lot fun. granted, it's another mini games compilation, but by looking at the other 3, I have to say that carnival games is the best looking one to play with.
