If Wii and the 360 cost the same, which would you get?

I would say 360. But my opinion is very 1-sided because I don't have a Wii and have not had the chance to play one yet.

The only opinion that should really count is from someone who has given both an equal amount of time.

I've got both and even though I like the Wii better, I say go for the 360 deal, especially if you have an HDTV. There a lot of high quality games at $20-30 now like Condemned (still my favorite) and Burnout Revenge.

The Wii drought argument is valid to a point, but other than Lost Planet, I doubt any of the 3 systems will have a AAA title released from December to March if past history is any guide.

Wow, this thread turned into a real winner.

Going by VG's list, the only must-have game on there if I had a 360 would be Dead Rising, with Gears being a maybe (Blue Dragon and a few other coming out would up that number); for the Wii, Zelda obviously and so far Wii Sports and Trauma Center are hot. Cheaper games tilt me to the Wii.

If you are only getting one, then it doesn't matter what the console cost is, that becomes pretty neglible amortized over your game purchases for 4 or 5 years. So just figure out what games are more enticing. If you're looking at which one to get first... whichever has games you need now. The 360 will eventually be easy to find for $200 (through coupons, deals, or price drop), and the Wii will certainly get cheaper in the next year or so.

If each system cost you the same price, and you had to base it on what you were able to play at this point, I would easily tell you to get a 360. By December 2007? Who knows? But I'm sure you'll be able to get a 360 now and scratch together a few hundred dollars by next summer when all the really juicy Wii games are starting to come out.

I would get both in the long run but it all depends on what kind of gamer you are.

Do you plan to play online alot? The 360 would be the obvious choice then, because there are so many good games to be played on Live. XBox Live is a awesome experience and It's going to be awhile before Nintendo or Sony ever get a firm grasp to replicate it. I also understand that theres no games to be played right now over the Wii, if that's true then the 360 is a clear cut winner.

Single Player? The 360 has alot of good single player games, but the Wii is gonna have some massive pwnage single player games over the next year. Nintendo might have not had alot of third party games for the Cube, but they have never let anybody down when it comes to exclusive first party single player games. I personally can't wait to play me some Wii first party goodness down the road.

The answer is I'd get both if they cost the same (I already own them anyway) but if you meant to ask which one would I pick if I could only choose one and they cost the same then my head would explode because it's an impossible question. I guess I'd choose the 360 and I can't believe I just typed that since I'm a Nintendo fanboy at heart. I just think Microsoft is really on the right path with their console (affordable yet extremely powerful) and Live is fantastic. Wow, I can't believe that's my answer.

Wii360 for the win! I don't have a 360 yet but I do have a Wii. I think the combination of the 2 systems gives you pretty much everything you would need in a generation. The PS3 just doesn't look all that great to me. I'm bummed about maybe not playing MGS4 but who knows what the future holds.

I like that the 360 is powerful but somewhat realistic in price and the software lineup is looking better every day. If the 360 can keep up in the games department....Sony is in trouble. After playing the Wii for a day it does feel like something new and different. So I think when I get my 360 it will be the best of both worlds.

Your forgetting Halo 3 and Halo Wars, two games that a exclusive to the 360 and surely to be blockbuster hits. Yeah there not going to be here until sometime next year, but time flies you know. It seems like yesterday that Super NES was the king of consoles. Now look at us.
I'd say the Wii simply because the Xbox 360 is still sorely lacking in exclusives. Yeah, it got Gears of War, but what else is there? Some stuff that's also on the PC and the PS3 and a lot of other games that are pretty shitty. This next year should turn things around for the 360, but does the system have anything that can compare to Metroid, Mario Galaxy, and Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii? I personally don't think so. If I had to go with one, it'd definitely be the Wii. But I have both because... well, they're pretty different and I need both.
The Wii, but that's because the X-Box exclusives hold little interest for me. The 360 will probably be better for multi-platform games if you're not planning to buy a PS3 and/or aren't interested in the Nintendo exclusives.
I know, 360 doesn't have anything good coming up in the next couple months. Except for Lost Planet. And BioShock. And Mass Effect. And Rainbow Six Vegas. And Blue Dragon. And Culdcept Saga. And The Darkness. And Forza 2. And Crackdown. And Timeshift. And Army of Two. And Assassins Creed. And Too Human. And Lost Odyssey.
You forgot Alan Wake but other than that, yeah that pretty much sums it up.

My biggest gripe with the 360 is because it's lacking appealing exclusives (I'm not going to consider multiplatform games in this argument) to me this year. There hasn't been a single game that catered to my interest since Enchanted Arms and N3. I don't like FPS, most shooters, sports, western RPGs, etc. I only have 6 games (like 3 of them) and there's only 2 more I could see myself buying the rest of the year (N3 and Kameo). I mostly like JRPGs, platformers, some racers, fighters, music/dance, samurai and mech based action games, flight games, etc.
PS3 versions are inferior right now because of the issues with developing for new hardware... stuff like CoD 3 runs like shit at times so yeah, the 360 version ends up being better and the lack of online play is definitely an issue. But that's also something that will definitely change in the next 6 months or so as devs. stop rushing stuff out the door for the PS3.
QFT again. I could careless about the PS3 versions of games right now, because they are stuff I don't care about even on 360. But yeah, many of those devs have been working with the 360 hardware longer, and those games were more so built for the 360 in mind, not the PS3 in mind. Personally, I like the PS3 controller because it's similar to the Dual Shock 2 controller. Having no rumble is no loss, because I have my rumble turned off my Logitech wireless controllers for PS2, and I have the rumble turned off on my 360 controller (It sucked too many batteries).

But answering this question, I'd probably say 360, since 2007 looks great (definitely has appealing games to me). However, if the Wii does really well in Japan (causing it to get several exclusive games by Bandai Namco, Square Enix, Capcom, Konami, etc.), I'd definitely want it more.
