If you could bring three shows back from the dead what would they be?
Only one: Futurama.
The rest of TV isn't worth watching.
Such a bold statement, when some many good shows are on tv.

Someone must have blinders tuned to one show, instead of others.

If Arrested Development doesn't come back, then it moves directly to the top of my list. Considering that it's technically not completely gone just yet, I'll keep hoping and leave it off the list for now.

1. Farscape
2. Futurama
3. Firefly

(Honorable mention: Angel, Wonderfalls, Freaks and Geeks, Dead Like Me, MST3K)

botticus, I was about to write "I can't believe no one has mentioned Nowhere Man yet!" It was a launch title for UPN from 24 co-creator Joel Surnow. Bruce Greenwood was a photographer who had his life erased -- good conspiracy mumbojumbo, and from the standpoint of, as bott said, not having its story completed, it's the one show I could imagine rebooting next season. A lot of the rest are great ... but they ended well. Nowhere Man was good enough to deserve an ending.

Also, it just came out on DVD! Next time there's a DDD sale, it's No. 1 on my list.
HOLY CRAP. I already made a list, and then I remembered the show I would want back most of all............

Sifl and Olly
I think the number one reason that one isnt coming back is because probably only me and you actually liked it. Good news though! Liam, one of the guys who did the show is directing the Tenatious D movie.
Also, it just came out on DVD! Next time there's a DDD sale, it's No. 1 on my list.
I just noticed that, and I will be all over it.

I find it pretty funny no one said X-files... Those last 2-3 seasons must of just raped the show to death.

Also, Star Trek :Next Generation is still one of the best shows on TV.

Boomtown was a pretty awesome show, sad to see that one go...

My girlfriend loved Good Morning Miami

Upright Citizens Brigade?

Assuming there was a time warp and the shows could pick up exactly where they left off (no accounting for actors aging, etc.) and damn, past no. 1, this is a hard choice.
1. Profit (The best fucking thing that ever has and most likely ever will be put on television, especially in the US)
2. Star Trek: The Next Generation (Yes, I know it lasted 7 seasons, but it still had legs. It should have never been cancelled.)
3. Nothing Sacred (Doomed from the start, but truely one of the most soulful [no pun intended] shows ever made.)

Honorable mentions: C16, Strange Luck, VR5, Partners, the other damn Jon Cryer show that lasted half a season that I can never remember the name of, Cracker (US version), My So-Called Life, life as we know it, Forever Knight, The Dungeons and Dragons cartoon, Harsh Realm, Sledge Hammer, The Prisoner, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Brisco County Jr., The Tick (live action) [Yes, I am aware that a couple of these actually ran their course and weren't cancelled, but, dammit, I want more episodes]

And yes, if DB Sweeny is in something, it's doomed, unfortunately. At least Jon Cryer kicked his curse.

I would have listed Firefly, but if Serenity was the future course of the show, it really should have stayed dead.

Yeah, X-Files should have ended at season 6, maybe even 5. You know you are something special if you can make Cary Elwes, Robert Patrick and Lucy Lawless all suck ass...

Just to go with ones not mentioned:

1) Thundercats
2) G.I. Joe
3) Transformers G1

Also He-Man. :)

Oh, I thought those were givens, didn't bother mentioning.

They had good episodes all the way up until season 7 -- and, truthfully, even beyond. But the mythology stuff stopped being interesting around the time the first movie came out. When they did standalone episodes, especially when they were especially scary, especially creepy or especially funny, those were some of the best shows on the air, even and especially in season 6.

Hmmm... this is tough... Shows that I love that are no longer on the air like TNG, Buffy, Seinfeld, The X-Files, etc. can't possibly count, can they? I mean they each were on for a considerable amount of time and came to satisfying conclusions - they ran their course so as much as I love these shows, I wouldn't want o see them back on the air. Also the last season of some shows I love like X-Files and Seinfled are sub-par at best so I couldn't imagine what they would do if they came back. I'm also not going to count shows like The Office (BBC) which only lasted a few episodes but was meant to end (meaning not cancelled). I'm going to base my list on shows I thought still had legs and were ended prematurely....

1. Firefly
2. Futurama
3. Star Trek: Enterprise

Honerable mention: Angel (hey, we got 5 seasons), Action!, The Lone Gunmen, Andy Richter Controls the Universe... hmmm... I see a trend here - DAMN YOU FOX!

Oh yeah, if ultimately cancelled, Arrested Development will definitely make the list...
Greatest American Hero (or the planned sequel that got canned - Greatest American Heroine)

The Flash

Friday the 13th the series
ooommgg my exact 3

except I would add another that would replace any of those as my top pick.................

My Secret Identity starring Jerry O'connell

I mentioned the X-Files, but that's a show I didn't get into, sadly, until after it ended. Luckily, TNT and Sci-Fi show episodes regularly.

Every time these topics come up, NO ONE else ever agrees with me on Fox's "Get Real". That was such an awesome show.

Cowboy Beebop (highly unlikely, given it's ending)
Greg the Bunny
The Simpsons (I know it's still running, but it's been dead for a while)
Also the last season of some shows I love like X-Files and Seinfled are sub-par at best so I couldn't imagine what they would do if they came back.
Really?? The only bad episode I can think of from Seinfeld in the last season was the finale. If I'm not mistaken, both The Little Kicks and the Festivus episodes were in the last season. And the next-to-last episode, which I like to to think of as the LAST episode - The Puerto Rican Day Parade - was classic Seinfeld at its best.

I suppose I should take that back.

Futurama and Star Trek TNG.

I just don't watch TV, anymore. Nothing except the food network, and those two shoes ever held my attention any longer.

Little Kicks and Festivus were further back than the last season. Festivus was 5th or 6th season IIRC and I can't remember when Little Kicks was but it wasn't the final season. Puerto Rican Day parade was an awesome episode though. One of their best.

I honestly couldn't remember, so I looked it up. Little Kicks was season 8, you're right, but The Strike (the Festivus episode) was indeed season 9. Also in season 9 were The Serenity Now, The Merv Griffin Show, The Slicer, The Frogger, and The Butter Shave - all greats imo. There were others too, these just stand out to me from their titles alone. I personally don't see where Seinfeld ever made a misstep.

I thought that was when the show veered from quirky to ridiculous. Granted, most of the show people were acting in ways you never would in real life - but at least you wanted to. In the last season I just remember thinking a lot of the time "what the hell am I watching?" The Merv Griffin Show, The Dealership and The Frogger were my least favorites probably ever and they were all in the last season...

It's still one of my favorite shows of all time but the 9th season stands out as not as good, IMO. You could really see the departure of Larry David and the effect it had in the quality...

EDIT: OK, I looked at the episode list and there were some awesome ones in there - especially The Voice and The Reverse Peephole... meh, Seinfeld ruled.

GI Joe, Silverhawks and Bionic Six but not updated to 3D but just better animation and just continuing from the original series and characters.

I gotta go with
1, Dark Angel
2. Jonny Zero
Both shows fox kinda ruthlessly cancelled with unfinished storylines I wanna know what happens.
Also I believe a lot of the old nicktoons and cartoons from the early to mid 90's should be brought back with new episodes all of them were classics
Daria
Invader Zim
Home Movies
Good choices. I'd have to throw Andy Richter Controls the Universe and Sports Night into the ring and have them battle it out for a top 3. I just wish Daria was on DVD. I don't care if all the music is missing, just release the fucking thing.

I don't get MTV's deal about "we can't release it with the music because it would cost too much." I really, really want some hard facts on that because right now I don't buy it. The same thing is being said about music videos with Beavis and Butthead.

I did notice on the Daria movie DVDs, that one of them has two episodes on it, and there is NO background music at all in it. It was really weird when I watched it, it didn't click for a few minutes.

Maybe I should just try to find an alternate source for my Daria needs.

Back then, DVD wasn't around and putting TV series seasons on VHS was going to be both too expensive, and the networks didn't think that there was a big enough audience for TV on home video.

Music rights contracts nowadays often include the use of the music on any kind of home video release. They didn't negotiate home video music rights for the above reasons I mentioned. Now, when an older show is put on DVD, they have to go to whoever holds the rights for certain songs and negotiate with them. This is particularly a pain in the ass if the show had a song from a band that wasn't that popular, and nowadays their popularity has skyrocketed.

I'm glad that MTV is actually doing something right, and not releasing certain shows without their original soundtracks. Music is a huge part of certain shows, and with some generic track put in, it isn't the same. That's why The State isn't on DVD still. They are still finishing up things on clearing the music rights, and The State has forbidden MTV from releasing a set with incomplete / changed content. I'm happy that they are going to do things right, but still frustrated that we are without that DVD set.

Hopefully, more studios will do things right. I read a lot of bitching when they screw up a release, so hopefully they're learning.

In other words, it's right up there with Nintendo not being able to release certain games on the download service of the Rev because the original developer no longer holds the rights, and the only way they could get it would be to go to the current holder. I.e., the same problem with Marvel vs. Capcom games. It's just too much overlap. Or the reason Jump Superstars won't come to America....

Sigh. It's understandable but it sucks. I hear this is the same reason Malcolm in the Middle is having issues with DVD release.

Gimme my Daria. :( Papa wants so badly.

Well, hopefully this sort of thing is rectified on a forward thinking level, so this sort of thing doesn't happen down the line. Also it makes me realize Brendon Small (Home Movies) is a genius for doing all his music in house (which kicks ass to boot, totally win-win situation).
Playmakers, Wonderfalls, Firefly
Playmakers really pisses me off because it wasn't cancelled for low ratings but rather because ABC/Disney didn't have the balls to stand up to the NFL. That and the fact that the show kind of ends on a cliffhanger with way too many loose ends.

Babylon 5
Third Rock From The Sun
Quantum Leap / or Sliders..

honorable mention: Tales From The Crypt.. (HBO series)

News Radio (Phil Hartman, we miss you greatly)
Happy Hour (with Dweezil and Ahmet Zappa)
Rock'n'Roll Jeopardy (I knew more than any contestant, except possibly Mark McGrath)

Nice, I was just going to add those.

What was the name of the show about the 2 dudes (one a grown man, and the other a dark-haired kid) with the time-travelling pocket watch that was always sending them off-course into a totally different period of time? They'd have to make sure that history actually played out the way is was supposed to, and then the green light would light up on the watch, and they could travel back to their appropriate time period? I think one of the characters' names was Phineas Phog, or something.

The main character from "Around the World in 80 Days" was named Phileas Fogg, if that helps. Maybe something related to that story?

I remember only that character's name. Nobody I've talked to seems to remember the show! I thought it was called "The Adventurers", but Google can't find anything like that.
