Quitting the forum!? Wow, that's a bummer. I personally have yet to do that, been banned, had entire forums collpase around me, (3 of which were my own) or switched computers and never bothered to go and find the link again. It's too much of a family type thing to just pick up and leave imo, so stuff here must really be getting to ya. Ehk, maybe you'll come back, if not, have fun in another community.

Well, the OP kinda reminds me why I stopped posting here. I have too much drama in my real life to have to come on these boards and have some boy calling me a bitch and telling me to put a dick in my mouth. I personally have found another site to post at (one where boys are actually nice to girls) and have made my new home there. I still post magazine deals here when I find them, so I'm not totally gone.

Part of the problem is that there is an established group of veterans here that feel the need to maintain the board's "quality" by flaming newbs and n00bs alike. These people are getting a little too comfortable as members here and it's gone to their heads.
Another problem is that these same people are not following the administration's rules, simply ignoring them. And nothing is done about it.

I'm outta here. I had a great post filled with vile and rage, but it's just not worth my time to type it all. I'm sure I've said it in other threas anyways, and I hate being redundant.
It's a shame. CAG is losing a great poster. While I understand your reasoning, it's still a great loss and a bit disappointing.
It basically boils down to the ratio of assholes and idiots far outnumber the useful posters. I can't open a thread anymore without seeing an ignorant post, an asshole comment, an incoherent flame attempt, whatever. From what I hear, it's as bad as gamefaqs, except with slightly better spelling.
You know, taking a sabatical is never that bad of an idea. I was getting sick of the way things were going, but not checking the site the entire time I was on vacation helped leech some of that ire from me.
Don't just completely call it done yet. Take a couple weeks or months off from posting/reading the site.
I think some of the craziness will disappear after the 4th quarter.

So far, this board has had NO flaming in the months since it has opened. It's so small right now, that it's not very suprising, though. Only about 50 people have registered and 20 or so people are actually posting right now. Several CAGs have come to this site and said they like it. I love it as well. I'm a mod at DCR now, and it's alot of fun on those boards. We're always messing around with eachother, but it's just joking around and everyone knows that. It's really laid-back, and you can say fu(k. :lol:
I don't like the flaming that goes on at CAG, but the huge flame wars (such as the MOP20 saga) are very entertaining.

It's a shame to see anyone leave over the immature posts of other users.
One thing is for sure: this place is not what it used to be. Things have become a little more fierce (especially after the Vs. boards were introduced and the election heated up. I'm looking at you Quackzilla and PDA). I imagine more than a few people have been scared off because of the harsh reactions of the board vets when a mistake is made. Part of me thought that this was the way it had to be to maintain the board. But things haven't been the same in a long time. I don't know how to describe it, but I think I've been here long enough to be able to see a difference, just as Dave sees one. I love this place too much to leave though. For everything that pisses me off, I get 3 things that make me genuinely laugh. For better or worse I suppose. I really hope you reconsider Dave. Every post from you was one with a purpose and one worth reading. But if you really are gone, good luck and smooth sailings.

Sorry to see you go Mighty, I had a lot of respect for what you've done to help out fellow CAG.
I'm not a huge poster myself, but I used to check the boards all the time while I'm at work (like I am now). For a while now, topics that might have been interesting became negative right off the bat, so it gets depressing. Despite that, the roots of the great community are still around, albeit to a lesser extent, so there is hope for the future.

Not to come off to harsh but I don't think I would enjoy a message board without the occaisional flame war or vs debate. Sure it gets heated but that is what makes it interesting, and frankly I enjoy reading a good flame war as it evolves. People being assholes is a way of life, like it or not, and you either go with it and dish some back every now and then or you leave. But frankly I surf these boards almost every day for hours and I have seen very little to deter my stay here and very little to back up your reasons for leaving. Not to say your wrong but just to say I think CAG is getting painted a lot worse than what it is. My 2 cents, later.

On the rare occasion I call someone out on some jackassery, I do so in a benign way. I don't know if I am in the minority or not but I can easily turn the other cheek and continue coming here without problems by keeping my own emotions in check and not letting anything get to me. I know that isn't easy to do for most people but it is possible.

Having 1,000 posts was a milestone, now through endless bumps in the trading forum, people who have been here for a month can request custom ranks.
But I guess this all is a give and take. Most of us liked it when it was smaller, but the increase in users show the success of this site and that has got to make CheapyD happy. And if this site generates the $$$ for the Cheap One, well, it's his site and it's hard to get mad at his success.

The things I have seen on these threads, honestly make me think twice before posting... and as far as starting threads... heaven forbid if there is another topic about the same thing, certain people here will be very mean about it when telling the person nicely would suffice
Fanboy obsession over certain topics... I do remember these two specifically from that one thread... if the chance ever presented itself... would not trade with these two
People getting pissed over missing out on certain deals... I also remember a guy on here, who a couple of times after not getting in on a deal or two, just rants and raves about how he is so mad he wanted to beat up the sales clerk at the store... over a damn game...

It's a message board; people with different attitudes walks of life meet up here and relay there opinions (in this case deals). My best advice when you get a reply that brushes you the wrong way is to ignore it, why get bent out of shape by some nobody stranger that your going to forget a month from now anyways?
If you haven't taken notice, as the years go on Message Boards are becoming more and more populated by asses, on some sites it getting to the point of critical mass. It's a lot harder than it used to get a coherent mature bunch of opinions gathered on a site theses days. You either have ego-centric people that get off knowing everything before you do, you've just got the babbling immature users that seem to ask the same redundant questions over and over (how hard is it to use a search engine?), also the users that ware their post count as badges of authority. The dumbness just pretty much runs the gauntlet out there, people like that can't be stopped from joining the community, your always going to get those types on any message board.
So if you leave, you’re just going to go through the same crap again. But if you’re going to leave by all means do, it’s your lost.

I agree. Sometimes when you go into a topic and it's just a bunch of flaming going on thats when I just leave and find another one. Some of the joking is funny but sometimes it get's redundant. I'm here for the deals and for information. Sorry to see a fellow CAG leave

I've been here since August 03, (wow looks like May) and regardless of what people post negatively It doesn't bother me. Why? Because usually a mod will clean up/lock the thread when things get too chaotic, and either way why are you letting peoples opinions online bother you so much? It's the internet, It's not like they are face to face with you calling you names. You should skip over the negative posts and let others handle them, or just ignore them period.
The deals here have been upgraded since my arival, thanks to more CAGs. I am aware of more deals then I was before, of course that has a price and most deals run out quicker now because either someone hoards the copies or everyone jumps on the deal. But that's the price you pay, and can you really be upset over it? Without CAG 90% of these deals you would have never knew about.

Over the years I've gotten fed up with a lot of the forums I belonged to. They turned into flame wars and moronic posts by a bunch of losers.
After lurking here for some time I decided to create a new identity and join CAG. The main reason is, the threads are interesting and thought-provoking. Where there is disagreement (and there's a lot of that here) the arguements are intelligent and entertaining. The composite IQ of CAG members is higher than any of the forums where I was a member. And the share of "losers" on CAG seems fairly low.

On the other hand, if you're think I'm one of the regulars who doesn't post as much anymore, trust me, it's not because of the assholes - I can hang with the best of them. I'm just a little more particular in my commentary these days, that's all. This board has grown exponentially in the last year, and it's impossible to keep up with everything.
Anyway, I think it's fair to say there's a time to be helpful and a time to run around like a dickhead. I also think it's fair to say I've done my share of both. The problem users are the ones who don't understand that balance and are stuck exclusively on "douche." I don't feel that I'm one of the problem users, though I'm sure there are those here who would try to persuade you differently.
And Olson, I really don't know how I feel about your post. On the one hand, the part of me feels if you can't flow with it, then it's probably for the best that you leave. However, the other half of me is a bit disappointed and saddened that you let the comings-and-goings of this message board so personally affect you that you feel the need to announce your departure.
