It looks like Conan is getting $32 mil guaranteed even if he goes somewhere else and his crew is getting $12 mil.
Who wants to bet tomorrow's Tonight Show is the top rated one for atleast the year, if not a few years until Leno is gone? Hopefully Leno gets slammed by Letterman and even Craig Ferguson?

Yeah, I don't understand how Conan didn't get ratings in the first place since it was an hour earlier. But I still split time between him and Letterman depending on their schedule. Craig Ferguson is the King in my eyes though.

Praise Allah my HDTV/PS3 is playing nice again. Sony is testing me these days.

Audience demographics (age difference mostly).

Old people who liked Leno didn't like Conan. But they didn't care enough about Leno to watch him during Prime Time when something better might be on.

Young people who like Conan would watch, probably, if they're home and not out doing something or whatever.

Before DVRs, timeslot was everything. Move the wrong show to the wrong timeslot and watch it die. People forget it moved. People are doing something else at the new time. There's something they like watching more at the same time. Etc.

At least, that's my guess.

DVRs are huge now a days, the cable/satellite companies should be able to pull data from the systems to see who's recording/watching what...that should contribute to the ratings. Nielsens is not cutting it IMO.

What do DVRs have to do with Nielson ratings being shitty anyway?
Thanks Linkin. He'd love that, but we're holding off on Cars toys for now, unless we see Red in the wild. That or any of the drive-in characters, as I refuse to pay a premium for them.
Which Red are you looking for? The remote controlled one that shoots water?

Nielson's is so flawed. It should be in all homes or none. By implementing it with all DVR, Cable Boxes, and Satellite Receivers, then they could use the ratings. Until then, it is severly flawed.

Not all are linked to Nielson.

Just the regular diecast.

fucken Awesome.
AMC Greenlights Frank Darabont's Walking Dead TV Series

Frank Darabont, director of The Shawshank Redemption has been given the go-ahead from AMC to adapt the astounding zombie comic The Walking Dead for television. Time to get excited, and prepare your anti-zombie shelter.

The Walking Dead is based on the comic series written by Robert Kirkman. It was previously announced that AMC was in talks to bring the undead back to life. It's now being reported in the trades that AMC has stopped talking, and is ready to bring Darabont's pilot adaptation to undead life. Plus he's going to sign on to direct.

AMC's Charlie Collier released this statement:

Working with people like Frank Darabont and Gale Anne Hurd is the right way in for us to deliver a project of distinction in this genre.
Which we translate as, "We're taking this seriously. This is not another The Prisoner."

The comic book series is centered around Rick Grimes, a small-town police officer from Cynthiana, Kentucky. Grimes is comatose when the zombie outbreak started, so we're pretty much in the dark as to how this whole thing started, in the beginning. The books follows Grimes, his family, and a few other survivors they pick up along the way, as they try to find new, and safe, home. Of course, everyone slowly, or quickly starts losing their grip on reality.

Exactly. So many good shows get canceled just because those homes are not watching them.

You don't have to poll every household in the country to get a general idea of viewership. Statistics works off of samples taken from a population.
Not all are linked to Nielson.
Right. Neither are all homes without DVRs. That was my point. It isn't a lack of DVR support that makes Nielson flawed, it's flawed anyway.

Never seen it myself either. My son has the "mini adventures" one, that's gotta be his favorite.

I regret not picking up the Toy Story and Monster Inc minis a couple years back.

Reading comprehension, Rocko.

Read my post again, I never said that they had anything to do with each other, I was merely saying that cable/satellite companies should have a way to track data based on what people are recording and viewing...they should use that instead of Nielsens.

What? You introduced your sentence with the popularity of DVRs in homes, which implies that what is to follow is based on that fact that you introduced. If that isn't what you meant, learn to use English correctly.

Oh I know. It's still a very flawed way to look at things. Too many variables to consider, like taste and other stuff. But I know where you are coming from plus the cost associated with my idea would jack up cable and satellite bills even more than they already are. I just hate assumptions. Brilliant shows are killed off and stupid shit gets to stay on tv, all due to this system.
Right. Neither are all homes without DVRs. That was my point. It isn't a lack of DVR support that makes Nielson flawed, it's flawed anyway.
I know, those are the hard ones to track. Though I still think there has to be something somewhere, outside of Nielson's that can track what is on a given television. I just hate assumptions.

Yeah, my son has the mini one, but it doesn't properly hook to the trailer. The diecast Red with Stanley statue fetches a pretty penny, for a car.

I would love to stumble across either of those sets, would probably pick up 2 of each. One for me to keep sealed and one for him to play with and enjoy.

Why is it that you're always looking to argue, even when there isn't anything to argue about?

I had to look it up as I've never seen it or heard that it came with the Stanley statue...that is pretty sweet.

I had saved the the Pixar Cars McDonalds Happy Meal set sealed in original packaging from when the movie came out, when my son was getting into the movie I gave him the set and he was estatic. I don't think I had a complete set, but pretty close to it.

I'll have to procure a complete set when the 2nd movie comes out in 2012...I think.

Here's McDonalds set. Came out 2 years before my son was born.

Sadly Disney no longer does Happy Meals, they claim it promotes obesity in kids.

Two words, DP. Planned Parenthood.

Both you and your parents should look into it. The "morning-after" pill is free.
We also need to sterilize someone who thinks advertising is only about selling cigarettes to children.
Because that's exactly what i said.

Didn't they just do Princess in the Frog in a kids meal somewhere?
