yea about that sucks when your buying new ps2 games at gamestop ebgames since they tend to reshrink things.
 
Well that sucked. I was denied the pricematch at CC. I brought a printout of the web page, which showed sold out although the store locator has it in stock. She called the store (across the street) and they told her they didn't have it. I figured they must have sold out or soemthing but the store locator still shows it. I guess I'll have to get it at Best Buy directly.

you can't tell if it's a reshrink? just look at how it's shrinkwrapped. if it isn't folded on top and bottom of the case, it's a reshrink. also check for the "coat" hanger and ribbon near the bottom of the case (although Ive seen some factory sealed games without this)
 
It's all sold out online, I'll check my local BB when I go in there this week and try my luck. Im sure I will have another opportunity to pick up Genji for cheap.

I can tell alright especially when they put out all RE: DS with that funny shrinking selling as new.

Nah, that's how RE: DS is supposed to look. I got mine from GR with the crappy shrinkwrapping.

Alot of stuff seems to have gone on clearence I think it's more of a matter of being sold out.
 
heh I just realized that Genji has alternate cover art if you filp it around. I never realized video games were doing that every once in a while, I know some DVDs do but still color me all suprised. I'm tempted to go see if any other video games in my collection are hiding the same thing.
 
Scored this one too! Used a BB gift card with the coupon. Good thing I returned the $15 one. Now if I only had the guide...

WHOA I just looked at mine. Don't tell me I have to go flip through everything now to see if anything else does it.

Edit - Okay I looked at God of War and Shadow of the Collosus, and God Of War also has the second cover thing too. Hmm wonder what else.

Edit 2 - A quick google says Ghost in the Shell : Stand Alone Complex and Samurai Western also.
 
Take out the front insert and flip it around. There's a diferent cover. Looks nice.

Magna Carta also has a reversible cover.
 
That sucks eau. I managed to bag one. Anyone have some info for me on whether this game supports Progressive Scan and is it in the options menu or do I have to do the hidden trick? The hidden trick unfortunately won't work for me because it keeps hitting the menu first. If someone can give me a tip here it would be much appreciated.

Hmmm I returned mine immediately for this very reason. I never saw this before so I was used to having games in the folded non seran type shrink wrap with the security sticker on top and thought the game seemed very suspect.. like someone played it and reshrunk it to return it.

It was the last one unfortunately too :roll:. At least I found a stack of fresh new GGC cards hidden away and bought up 4 of them for future use. Oh well.. whatever happened to the quality packaging so we knew something was officially new? :whistle2:s

Not sure how it is with other retailers, but lots of Best Buy's new games have that kind of "re-packaged" like shrinkwrap. I remember picking up some other games on release day and all of them had that type of shrinkwrap...but they are all brand new to my knowledge/experience.

As to the security sticker on top, they stopped putting that on new games for awhile now, even the ones with the "Y-fold" wrap.

As a sidenote though, for 9.99, why would you return it if you had bought it initially; even if it was used, it's still a good, cheap deal for a game you're probably going to open and play later any ways.... ;)
 
If the games are sealed with the folded/glued plastic that has a loose touch (unlike shrinkwrap), they are factory fresh and you are ok.

On the other hand, if they are heat shrinkwrapped, I would be more worried.
 
Score! thanks. I missed it last time, managed to order one this time. Now I finally have the game, since I've had the guide for a while now.

Well since it was my first encounter with this new packaging my mind was thinking in what ifs.. what if the disc is broken, what if its scratched all to hell, what if the game isn't even in there and someone swapped it with Yani's greatest hits returned it and they reshelved it..... That and I only buy new stuff not used (maybe I'm weird because I only buy new, but whatever) I didn't want to chance it even for $10. I guess I could have went back into the aisles and looked at the other games, but I didn't think about it and just wanted to get home. The GGCs were consolation enough. I wonder what kind of reaction the lady would have given me if I asked to put a penny on each instead of a dollar...
 
I found one yesterday and thought this game had good reviews. I was thinking about returning it but it seems everywhere else sells it for about $30 and people have been enjoying it. I was a bit suprised to find it so long after the drop, lucky me!
 
I finally found my copy after hitting the 5th BB over the last 3 weeks. I got it for $4.99 after the print-all-you-want $5 off coupon from their RZ website :)
