Indiana Deals Thread

Yeah, I like how since eBay became big people think anything old and crappy has collectors value.

I used to collect classic cartridge systems. It was just something to do. I'd pick up 2600 and Colecovision games for a quarter to a dollar each at goodwill and garage sales. Now I see that stuff and classic NES games at goodwill marked $5 to $7 each!

Before I sold it all...I had about 130 different carts across multiple systems.
I don't think I had over $80 in the whole collection.

I really hate that. It make things so hard to find. Now a days I can only find stuff if I get there right when they open or just plain luck. Once I get a job, I'll probably give up garage saling for the most part. In this area, you have to get to a sale on Friday when they open to find anything.

It really annoys me when I'm trying to find stuff for the saturn, dreamcast, and snes. I can't find any of that around here. Finding that stuff is really hard.
I did pretty well today. I picked up a bookbag for 75% off at Target (Maplecrest one). They didn't really have any good game stuff on clearance.

I pre-ordered HL2: The Orange Box at the near by GS so I could get the TF2 beta. I managed to get the last Eternal Sonata faceplate as well. It's the one with two girls on it. I would have liked one of the others, but I'm not complaining. I also got a box for an old ps2 they were going to through away.

Did some garage saling, but didn't find anything. I went down to kmart and picked Disgaea 2 for $12 and Rogue Galaxy for $10. I think they had 2 D2 left and one left of RG.

I think I did pretty well.
Where is the KMart you checked out?

Got a slim PSP at Meijer today for 15% off. My local Meijer had two Wii consoles left. I'll eventually kill myself for not getting it, since I badly want a Wii, but couldn't afford both right now.

Went to the Gamestop on Maplecrest to check on a preorder, and noticed they had a sealed Bioshock LE (360) on the counter. Someone had returned it. They decided they didn't want it. I thought I'd let you guys know. I don't need one since I already have one for the pc.
I wonder if either of the hollywood video stores in Fort Wayne will be closing?
Yeah, I doubt it too, maybe the Dupont Rd store someday, buy the one off of Maplecrest is always busy when I go in there. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Elkhart store shut down though.

Oh and Hollywood video on Rudisill is going out of business, haven't been in to check on the game selection yet.

The Target on Maplecrest had about the same number of wii's when I was there at around 4PM.

Where is that Hollywood video? Is that the one in the more central part of Fort Wayne?

love to see

was in there second day of close out. they said they shipped anyhting of value to corporate. (ps3,WII) basically most games are 19.99 20% off. But most games are used and already 19.99 new at many stores. so you might get lucky but did not see much of intrest. might go back and get a few when its 75% off

I'm not going to bother going to that hollywood video that's closing. I'm trying to slow down on my spending and save for some new stuff. Right now I'm waiting on the TRU to drop Okami down like they've done in other parts of the country.

same here

im going to try to go cold turkey on BUYING any games until the end of the year

I have in hand

Over 17,000 Goozex pts
Between 190 to 360 pts on switchplanet (depends on if someone buys my DS
300 bucks credit at gamecrazy
170 buck credit at FYE

hell i probally end up buying FF PSP and DQM jokers and Disgaea off FYE and still have close to 50 bucks left

it would be like free since its no cash out of my real pocket.

anyone hit the new gas station up by target today by the mall. From 3 to 5 they said CHEAP GAS On a flyer i got but i didnt feel like driving all the way over there and sitting in line for 2 hours for 50 cents LOL
I'm trying to slow down on my spending...
Me too, but mainly because I have Xmas gifts to get my 2 kids. I buy for them all year round - when I find a good deal, I snag it and then toss it all in a box in the closet. When I finally get everything together in December to wrap, I find a lot of stuff I'd forgotten about.

I was at Dragon Keep Cafe this morning in Waynedale.
They said if we want to do a CAG meetup/swap meet, they'd let us hold it there if we call ahead.

I already have too many games and not enough time to play, so I'm trying to get back. I still need a Wii though, but I gotta wait.

I'd attend.

Did you guys hear the radio ads for Disc (disk?) Exhange?
I guess they're over between the shoe store, Plato's Closet and Quiznos on Coldwater?
Anyone ever used this chain? I'm assuming it's part of the: Play it Again, Plato's Closet, Music Go Round, etc family?

just called them they sell dvds and games (SHOCKING THEY WOULD OPEN UP ANOTHER GAME STORE )

I did look into these companies few years back (the video game part) they wanted 100,000 bucks they supply the games but they took 75% of the profits

i think that is why you see 99% of them fold up so fast

i wonder if this is it

It's nice to hear about another games store coming into town.

I haven't been down to Georgetown in a while. I didn't even notice that they were gone. It's too bad they had some good pizza.

That's funny ... I just noticed that place last night on my way to Tokens & Tickets, but I didn't stop in because I had the wife with me. FYI, Tokens and Tickets still has an old Simpsons arcade game and they also have a Typing of the Dead terminal setup. Several of my hard earned dollars went into those machines last night. :)

Sad to say but Family video is going to run video stop out of town. Video stop was the best place back in teh 80s and 90s but they just didnt grow with the times

i still remember renting MAx. overdrive xmas eve 1985 from the video stop (FIRST STORE WAS ON HObSON it opened like 1984

it will just disappear like RENT A MOVIE... anyone remember what year RENT went belly up. Im guessing 1998???

Rent a movie was over by papa furs then moved into the strip mall across from the place you can buy bike helmets then it moved old HOOKS Building on east state what is now that parkview heath place

I took the wife there to play skeeball. We were surrounded by small children.

It used to be convienent that I HAD a small child with me. A good reason to acquire stepchildren...they make for a good cover story or alibi.

Now he's 13...hard to get him interested in Tickets & Tokens.

We used to take him there and turn him lose w/ $5, then the wife & I would play DDR and Galaga/Pac-Man.

I took my niece to Chuck E Cheese so I could play video games recently...I didn't want to go in there by myself or just with my wife...

Anyway, I went to the new one in Avon...they have Pirates of the Caribbean pinball, a 2-player Mario Kart that was pretty sweet, lots of shooting games, and the obligatory redemption games like skeeball, basketball, etc.

The great thing about Chuck E Cheese is that every game is only one token, plus, you can print coupons off online to get 80 tokens for $12.50, making each game you play cost less than 25 cents. When I go to Jillians or one of the "adult" bar/arcades in Indy, I pay an average of $1 per game to play the exact same games.

The bad thing about Chuck E Cheese is that even on a weekday they're packed and you have to fight your way through the crowds. Luckily, none of the kids are interested in any of the actual video games...they're all focused on winning redemption tickets. Playing Mario Kart in an arcade enviornment with a gas pedal and steering wheel (not to mention the built-in camera) was a hoot.

nice thing about working for the paper once a month they have those Coupon books in them. THey used to have 5 buck free token coupons. Used to walk in there about 2 to 3 times a week get 5 bucks in tokens and leave. then go there and have 20 bucks in free tokens : )

we went over to chucky cheese about a year ago and they have those ropes they got to open to let you in. NEVER TOUCH THOSE ROPES. There was no1 standing there so we took them down to get in

this dorky 40 year old guy comes running over with his arms waving screaming

IM THE ONLY ONE WHO IS ALLOWED TO TOUCH THE ROPE.

my cousin joked that is probally not the only thing that he alone touches LOL

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING TO DISC REPLAY

most of the games are maybe 5 to 10 bucks cheaper then new

29.99 for advance wars ds

34.99 for paper mario for the wii

all games only have a 2 week warrenty meaning if they stop working after 2 weeks your $#$$#$#$#

on the door it says

BUY SELL TRADE but they DO NOT TRADE GAMES. they buy your game and you take that cash and buy their games

THey said they offer 8 to 12 bucks for advance wars DS

meaning it would cost you Between 18 to 21 bucks per TRADE

just another OVERPRICED place.

they did admit that the games are only 10% of their stock mostly just all DVD movies and VHS Movies what could be found at the same price or cheaper at pawn shops

they will be long gone by jan

there was like 5 people working there and i had to ask 4 of them before anyone knew what the buy in prices were

LOL I was the only one in the entire store on a sunday at 2pm

Have any of you Fort Wayne guys dropped by the Kmart on the South side of town lately? I was wondering if you guys knew if they had anything good or have been cleaned out? I'm wondering if it is worth the gas for a drive down there.

was just there a few hours ago. nothing on sale there as far as games. picked up a lot of free candy though with that kmart coupon from the contest and free stuff thread. Be careful though limit one per customer and if your like under ten you are not a customer.

try checking out Gamecity in Lawrenceburg Indiana, florence KY and Newport KY they have large selections of vintage games and if you chat with the guys running the place they always bend over backwards and cut me unbelievable deals. Most of the emplyees have become more like good friends to me.
Peace.

hate to say this but if you looking for newer games check out mcvans

Today picked up

DIGIMON WORLD DAWN

traded in 2 poker games i picked up off goozex for 100 pts each

traded in both games to get dawn for free so it was like paying 200 pts for it

MISSED OUT ON YESTERDAY

ZELDA HOURGLASS that is right they already had this game used
Final fantasy tactics PSP missed it by 2 hours

if you got tons of GOozex pts this is a easy way to get good games cheap at mcvans

ALSO THEY JUST DROPPED almost all of their PSP and gamecube games

80% of the north store psp games are now GREEN OR LOWER

im glad i dumped off lemmings for dragoniers aria (lemm is now green)
Im glad i dumped off Pac man world rally for Tales of world (again green)

glad i went over and found DIGIMON DAWN. would of loved to picked up hourglass and tactics as well though : (

Hmm. I might have to pop in to the Evansville store to see if they're hiding Sega Soccer Slam or Castlevania Dracula X (I know the latter has been out for two days, but most people in this area wouldn't know a good game if it walked up to them, bit them in the ass, and politely introduced itself. They'd probably be all like "WAAAAA IT'S TOO HARD", to which I would say "duh. it's a Castlevania game...")

Any sightings or prices over there for Chronicles of Riddick and Toejam & Earl 3 (both Xbox)?
