Indiana Deals Thread
Hey guys, my sister was in there the other day and said she seen these so, I just went and found them. They are right behind the registers on the left hand side of the Greenwood Deals. I went ahead and bought 1 of everything for the heck of it. So here is what they had, and they are all Original Xbox games.

Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow
Spy Hunter 2 (I got the last one :p)
Pulse Racer
High Rollers Casino
Knight's Apprentice: Memorick's Adventures
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 (Platinum Hit box)
Dead To Rights (Platinum Hit box)
Power Drome
IHRA Motorsports Drag Racing 2004
IHRA Motorsports Professional Drag Racing 2005
Kelly Slaters's Pro Surfer
Defender

So if anyone is interested in those they had quite a few of most everything. :)
Thanks for the list. Was curious about this. Nothing worth the drive to Greenwood or the $3 in my opinion. I wonder if other Deals stores have this and if they have the same game selection?
Checked the Castleton Target on my lunch. Last Remnant dropped from $41.98 to $29.98 and they had one left. Everything else was still at the $20 and $30 points with no drops that I noticed. There were about half as many games as were there last week (quantity, not titles), so someone's buying them at those price points.
I go to that Target weekly...people pretty much always grab the games before they hit 75% off. Only recent exceptions I've seen were Singstar games and Drilldozer. I went just about every day a couple months ago when they were clearancing out Wii games I wanted...never got to the magic 75% off number and I didn't need them bad enough to pay the 50% off price. Even food that is clearanced at that store seems to disappear at 15% off and never hits 30% off.

Well I noticed on a few of the games they had a like $4.99 sticker on them from Best Buy, so I'm guessing this is just what Best Buy can't sell. So I would assume that if they did get them from Best Buy, that they probably would have different games, but to be honest, I have no idea. I noticed the Best Buy in Greenwood still had halo 1 and 2, and a few other original Xbox games so if they ever send those to deals, I wouldn't mind another copy of both haha. :p

Also guys, I was at the Walmart in kinda Greenwood/Southport (off of 31 and Shelby.) and they had a rack around where the layaway was in the back of electronics that said $10. They had a lot of various titles. I only really remembered the 360 ones. The were:

NBA Street Homecourt
Smash Court Tennis 3
Conan
The Golden Compass

Theres a few more 360 games I can't think of atm, but that had a ton of Wii games a few DS games thrown in there and don't remember seeing any PS3 games but there could have been, and a few Ps2 games I believe. Just thought I'd let you guys know.
Everyone from Fort Wayne who has lived there a bit just has to read this (I showed this to a CAG a few hours ago):
http://fortwayneindiana.blogspot.com/2008/05/you-know-youre-from-ft-wayne-when.html

It brings up lots of old memories of the area and definitely shows I've been living in the city too long.
I know a lot of those, but some were definitely before I was born. I remember most of the stuff about glenbrook and southtown malls. I do wish I would have been able to go to the arcades more, but I was too young. I remember when there were some VR machines at glenbrook and I really wanted to try one.

that VR machine was locatated down in the foodcourt next to the acrade room wasnt it...

i remember thinking who in the right minds would be stupid enough to pay 10 bucks for 3 mins (it was either 10 bucks or 20 bucks for 3 mins)

That one near the food court is the one I was thinking of. It probably was a rip off, but I don't think I ever got close to see the price to know that.

Just to warn you guys.....Shit has been getting real crazy at the Greenwood CC. We've seen fights twice in the last four days and most of my fellow co-workers are on edge. Please don't say anything that could be construed as a threat or you might get a printer to the dome.

Glad I got that Buffalo 320 GB wireless server last Friday, then! Stay safe.

In case this pertains to anybody....the Evansville Circuit City is now closed!

I went last night in the hopes of cleaning up some cheap crap, but the lights were off and the store was empty. Dang!

does anyone know the status of the Castleton CC? Are they all cleared out? I haven't had a chance to get over there.
does anyone know the status of the Castleton CC? Are they all cleared out? I haven't had a chance to get over there.
Pretty much cleared out. I was in Tuesday and the only gaming items I saw were a shitload of intercooler fans for the Wii. In terms of what else was left:
- a couple Blu-Ray HTIB sets for $400
- a handful of store display TV's left for 40% off
- a bunch of overpriced cords & cables
- some sets of outdoor speakers
- about 15 Memorex digital picture frames (bought one of these for myself)
- a bunch of car stereo installation kits
- maybe 25 CDs & 25 DVDs, tops
- some cell phone chargers
- a table of used office supplies (staplers, tape dispensers, etc)

That's all I can remember. All in all, I was happy to get the digital picture frame for 70% off, but everything else sucked.

Greenwood CC has a bunch of Panasonic 50" Plasmas (85 series) and a couple Sony Cybershots left. Other than that, you're out of luck.

Last day will be March 8th. Just to warn you guys, we will be very hung over from the party on Saturday night.

Lmao thats so awesome haha!! I'll probably see if I can snag a T.V. on Sunday if the price is within budget and I don't work. Good luck to your next job depascal and stay out of those fights. :)
#36. I was on Happy's Place twice... I wonder what ever happened to him.
I think Fox 55 decided to stop airing him. There were 3 different people who were Happy, if I remember correctly. I was never on that show, but I remember watching it quite well.

How much are those 50" Panny's going for? I have a good friend that's been looking for a deal on one and I might steer him down there.

LOL i still remember the time we pulled a joke on my grandmother.... we used to watch happys place and Froggies pad every morning .... Well one day she was talking about wondering what ever happened to to the first happy the hobo and we told her

Didnt you hear that he flipped out on tv and killed himself in front of all of the little chidlren .... She belived it and called up 55...

They told her that he moved to chicago and had a very popular talk show based out of chicago ...

dont know if its true or not but that is what they told us

Panasonic 50" are gone folks. Someone came in yesterday afternoon and bought them ALL. I can't blame him. They were only 1100 a piece.

When I left today at 2pm, someone was going to buy the last two TVs but he hadn't shown back up by the time I left.

I ended up buying the Sony Upscaling 5 disc DVD/CD changer for $65. I think that's about it for me. Nothing really left except for the 12" Touchscreen HP laptop but it's still over $800. I might strike a deal with the liquidator if it's still there after closing Sunday night.

As for the two people that assaulted CC employees over the week, they were both apprehended and charged as of Wednesday night.

Thanks for the update. $1100 is good, but not astoundingly so. I snagged the same TV at Best Buy in December for $1500, but they were giving out a $150 gift card with it and the equivalent of $150 in reward zone certificates, which pretty much knocked it down to $1200 for me. Seems liquidation sales just aren't what they used to be. Nowadays, most everything's bought up at discount levels higher than Amazon's prices. I remember way back when Phar-mor (sp?) went out of business, I stocked up on VHS movies, CDs and games for like 1/5 of what you could buy them for anyplace else.

I think the liquidators have perfected the psychology of a liquidation sale. You'll get some people that realize the prices are high and they either bitch about it or leave. Sadly, the majority of the people snatch everything up thinking they're getting a deal at 10% off. Luckily, I got to educate alot of people about Amazon, Newegg, and some of the other great sites on the web. It's a good thing the liquidation manager never heard me telling people to buy elsewhere.

Let the masses think that they are realling getting a steal. :p

But I do the same at kmart, let people know a 'smarter' way of shopping. :)

As of late I have even recommended a few people to CAG.

Nooooooo..... shhhhh. That's more competition. :p Haha j/king. I don't have the money to snag the deals anyways.

sunday paper in fort wayne they had 4 coupons for half price books

40 % off item thursdaay
30 % off item friday
20 % off item saturday
50% off item sunday

It should also be noted that the first 100 customers will receive a free tote bag and a $5 gift card, one lucky person will get a $200 gift card instead of $5, and the first day we are actually open for business is Monday.

When the madness of grand opening dies down, I will try to periodically post some of the great finds/deals we have in the software/video game section.

I didn't realize it was opening already. Looks like I have something to do tomorrow. Will there be any coupons available in store, or are they only available in the newspaper? Also, what time is the grand opening tomorrow?

I'm going to be heading there tomorrow. I'm tempted by a copy of contra for the NES I saw there. I'm trying to decide if $8 is worth it for a NES game. It might be, considering I haven't seen this one during my last several years of garage saling.

Hit the Castleton Target tonight. Most prices were the same, but Too Human finally dropped to $9.98. There were only two and I bought one of them, so if anyone wants to get in on it, I'd act quick.

Im sorry but i got better things to do then stand n the cold for 4+ hours for 5 buck card LOL

i probally hit it up thursday and sunday for the the 40 and 50% off coupons.

i doubt there is coupons in the store

Stopped at the Glendale Target on my way home last night and Tomb Raider & The Last Remnant both finally dropped to $15. I'd say there were 10-15 or so of Tomb Raider, but only 2 of Last Remnant left.

Which Tomb Raider game?

Sorry, Underworld for 360. I think that's the only one currently part of their clearance.

sweet, I might just have to go pick that up. So much for my resolution to not buy games until I finish my backlog!

FYI, just noticed a new McVan's opened up in Broad Ripple. Haven't checked it out yet, but thought I would pass along the info.

It is between the new Brothers bar (which used to be the trophy store) and the "Make your own pottery" place. I hope that is descriptive enough.

Broad Ripple Ave between Winthrop and Guillford.
My bad. It's in Indianpolis
Wonder is this the same mcvans in fort wayne (heard he sold out) does dave even run any of them anymore.... if not he got out at a smart tme cause most of his stores are mostly Junk now

UPDATE in FORT WAYNE WOOO LOL

HALF PRICE books opened today. i got there around 835 and was about 60th in line

Game wise its not better then mcvans mostly did find a few good deals today

ANIMAL CROSSING DS 19.98 or 12. something with the 40% off coupon today.. ONLY DS GAME in the entire store... No psp games no Ds Games ... and knew it would never last till sunday for 50% off

i think they had 1 or 2 xbox 360 game and 1 or 2 ps3 game FOOTBALL 08 and something else

their guides suck. 8 bucks per guide saw tales of something and FF Crisis core and that

Gears of war LE guide for 8. (though if they have them sunday 4 would not be bad)

one more nice fine was KINGDOM HEARTS 2 Greatest hits for 3.00

so ended up blowing about 10 bucks there (after the free 5 buck gift card) on

ANIMAL Crossing ds and KH 2

I probally end up tossing KH 2 up for trade here

Trade in prices suck as well... I asked how much i would get for the Crossing gameand they go 6... so the trade in vaules are VERY Bad and just like gamestop

I be very shocked to see this company still opened by xmas

To be fair, most of their business is through their books. The one in Greenwood has always kinda sucked on its game inventory (though I've picked up a couple decent guides there for $1... SMG, Phantom Hourglass), but it seems like the place is always packed full of people buying books. Considering they give $.25-$.75 per paperback (in my experience) and then turn around and sell them for half of whatever's on the cover, they probably do pretty well.

bad thing is they are opened right across the street from a boarders. and barns and noble.... many people in line were saying they were there just for the free bag and card ...seen alot of people just walk out as soon as they went in...

there was noone in line when i checkout and that was with probally over 150 people waiting before the store opened.. (many were looking)

i probally go back tomorrow and try to get another bag : ) and look at the 1.00 vhs tapes they had.. (saw them on the way out the door)

the worker said they would be more then happy to have my 200 DS/PSP games but for 3 to 8 bucks a pop i think i pass... LOL

Im shocked that with all of these 2nd hand stores noone followed what mcvans did with the Trade a game and pay xx

I would rather trade my game and give him 6 bucks to get a new game then give my game to them and pay 15 to get a game..

i would say within a mile or two we now have

This store.
Boarders
B and Noble
Disc replay (sells used movies games ect
2 pawn shops
mcvans
a another game trader next to golden corral
gamestop
blockbuster
(if they do buying) Toys r us
the FLEA market on speedway

so that is 10 to 12 places very close to one another and will be shocked if they all make it

wasnt there walk disc replay was going to open up more stores ? never seen a 2nd one open .

tomorrow coupon is 30% off
Saturday is 20% off
sunday is 50% off

i doubt i will shop there once the coupons disappear and probally just buy something on sunday if anything at all....

In order to give HPB a fair shake, I feel it is necessary to admit that the bulk of our sales are not from games but instead, as a previous poster has already stated, they come from books. And while we are located in the same general vicinity as two other major book stores and a number of other retail chains, it has never affected business in other locations. In fact, one of the Indy stores has a Disc Replay across the street and the owner of the place has mentioned publically that HPB has increased their business. It is simple economic competition in the end, really.

The other issue I have is we do not give any customer a price quote without seeing the merchandise. There is no ballpark figure or percentage that we give when we do our buys. Every employee is trained on running the buy counter and, because of that, every buy is handled differently.

Lastly, I want to reiterate that our sales are not really linked to games. I think people are hesitant to bring in their used CONSOLE games to us because they have so many other options. My belief is that many think "why should I sell my video games at a book store when I can sell them at a video game store?". Because of this and the sheer lack of console games we see come in on a daily basis, our game section is small and may have difficulty competing with some of the larger video game traders.

I do apologize your HPB experience left you with a sour taste in your mouth. This reply was only written to clear the air and encourage more people to try us out. If this is the wrong place to do it, please move it to the appropriate forum.

it really did not leave a sour taste in my mouth i was just hoping for something different....I do have a question though.. u say every buy is handled differently... Does that mean the quotes will be different or the same

That would be werid of someone offered 8 bucks for an item but then another worker says 5

i hope more people do go there and check it out at least once to see what its like but personally i think it was just too jammed tight... The store seemed like it was not big enough for what they wanted to do

do you work in the fort wayne one.,.. If so do you have to park behind the store and walk up all of those freaking steps...Saw around 30 cars parked behind the buliding and first thought that was people waiting in line...

ANd wonder who had to dressed up like that lizard thing today and hand out ballons : )

Every time I'm near HPB I make a point to stop in and check their game selection. I've found a few good deals. Pyschonauts on the Xbox for $3 and a couple of NES titles. Also, their used DVD selection is usually pretty good. I found a couple movies for my dad for Christmas that were in perfect condition.

I understand now. It is a smaller store and the opening day madness probably made it feel much, much smaller. I highly recommend coming in sometime next week and checking us out when there aren't as many people there.

And yes, the quotes are different each time. If you bring in your merchandise today for an assessment, it might not be the same if you bring it in the following day. We each have our own system of doing buys and what Employee A finds appealing and interesting, Employee B might not see it in the same way.

Yes, I work at the Fort Wayne store. In fact, I'll be leaving here in about 20 minutes to head in for the day. Just for the time being all employees are parking behind the stairs and walking up the steps to get in the store. It is kind of inconvenient but I could use the exercise so that I feel less guilty about my Rally's addiction.

And the bookworm...

Chances are I will be in that costume by the end of the day.
