Not everyone likes Apple. It could be for a variety of reasons:
Their products are typically at least 2 to 3 times as pricey as their PC and Android-based counterparts.
The ability to upgrade an Apple product is generally hard for your average person to do by him/her self, and in some cases, requires the use of specialty tools.
Apple's idea of repair usually is replacing the whole unit, and if outside of your Apple Care warranty, at the cost of the customer.
Despite claims to the contrary, Apple products can and do get viruses. They've recently become a bigger target due to the surge of more users than ever before.
Their app store and hardware is locked down. This can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on the type of user you are. If you're a typical user, who just wants the vanilla version of the iPod, iPhone, iPad, etc; and wants to be protected from unauthorized apps with possible embedded viruses, malware, or spyware by the app store's strict policy of locking down it's marketplace, then this is a good thing. However, if you jailbreak or want an even bigger selection of apps, then this is likely a bad thing for you, and an Android-based device is probably a better avenue for you to pursue.
I myself, used to be a hardcore PC and Microsoft user. I still use and love my Xbox 360, but after multiple PCs running Windows-based operating systems suffered from issues ranging from hardware failures and various software issues, (bugs, crashes, viruses despite having antivirus software and the best of precautions being taken, and other issues), I've had enough. My use of a computer for gaming is pretty much non-existant these days. I also had a Zune 8gb. It was awesome, and finally died. I replaced it with a Zune HD. It died after a week. I replaced it. The second one died the first day.
So, finally, I said screw it, and bought an iPod touch. It's had some issues, (browser crashes since updating to iOS 5, lack of two-way transfers like the Zune had), but it's been far more reliable than my former PCs and my Zune HDs ever were. I'm ready to make the leap to an iPad. I've considered a Windows 8 tablet, but I just don't want more of the same crap ive dealt with before.
Being a convert, I look at it from both sides.
