I'm reading it, thanks for the posts. I grabbed the pong game, I'll try it out next time I have friends over (ooh, this weekend I have people coming over, this should be fun).

I already have Mirror's Edge and it is my favorite iPad game. $13 was a bit overpriced considering how short it is, but $10 is fair for such a high quality game. NFS Shift is also on sale for $13 --> $10. Still no EA sale on Scrabble.

Doesn't seem like there are too many iPad game deals like there are with iPhone games. Gangstar from Gameloft just came out for $7 (not a sale price); I will probably pick it up in my next billing cycle.

there haven't been any sales, that's why.
there haven't been any sales, that's why.
?

I just listed 5 new games on sale between last night and today.

James Cameron's Avatar - $9.99 --> $7.99
Multi/Pong - FREE for 3 days.
Mirror's Edge - $12.99 --> $9.99
PartyPlace Marble Mixer - $4.99 --> $1.99
Peppers - ? --> $1.99

Boggle is on sale from 4.99 to 2.99. They have an advertisement that says its E'As semi annual sale and 25+ games are on sale. I cant really tell which ones are on sale and which aren't though, so you may want to check out all EA titles for both the iPad and the iPhone. I'm just positive about Boggle as I had that one on my watch list.

From what I can tell the iPad games in the EA semi annual sale are:
Boggle: $4.99 --> $2.99
Mirror's Edge: $12.99 --> $9.99
Need for Speed Shift: $12.99 --> $9.99
Tetris: ? (I think $8.99 or $7.99) --> $6.99

EA iPad games not on sale:
Command & Conquer Red Alert: $12.99
Scrabble: $9.99

My family loves Boggle but I'm going to have to pass on this version since they don't give you an option for the advanced grid (5x5). I bought the iPhone game Wurdle ($1.99) instead and it is a great Boggle replacement.

Still waiting for a sale on Scrabble... will probably end up getting Words with Friends instead.

Not a sale, but Reeder for iPad is out for $5. It's a pretty damn nice RSS reader that uses your Google Reader account, keeping starred items, read/unread, all synced. It's a bit bland, but the functionality is really nice.
tag. I just got an ipad last night. I'm interested to see how well some of these games are implemented.
Congrats. I have been on the fence about getting one. I almost have enough Best Buy Reward Zone points to buy the lowest end non 3G model. I'm just afraid that I may end up doing nothing on it but playing games. Lord knows the last thing I need is another gaming type machine. Outside of the iPhone I just bought a few months ago, I have never owned an Apple product before. I'm wondering if I should save more and go for a Macbook first.

I keep hearing this, but I just don't understand why you'd have to pay $5 for an RSS reader.

Yeah I don't get it either. I just use the web based google reader. Works fine for me.

I got an iPad recently and have been looking for apps. I'm using MGS Touch, Pac-Man CE, Sniper Strike since I already had them for iPhone. I recently bought Sandstorm HD and am enjoying it. I also got multipong, memory cards and solitaire since they were free.

I know this is a game thread but do you guys know of any other good non gaming apps? I bought speak it and it's useful to play pranks :).

Since this is a game thread you should probably check out:
http://www.ipadforums.net/forumindex.php
http://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=170
for iPad app (and game, news, etc) discussion.

The non-game apps I use most are:
ComicZeal ($7.99): Best manga/comic reader
GoodReader ($.99): Best pdf reader
iCabMobile ($1.99): Best web browser (real tabs, in page search, download any file)
ArtStudio (was $.99 but I think the price went up), PhotoPad (free), ColorSplash ($1.99): Best art apps
Penultimate ($2.99), Sketchbook Pro ($7.99): Best notes and art app if you have a stylus
LogMeIn Ignition ($29.99), VNC Viewer ($9.99): Remote desktop (LogMeIn for Windows/Mac, VNC Viewer for all os)
DataVault ($9.99, +$9.99 if you want Windows or Mac client with 2-way wifi sync): Best password manager

I already have the (currently banned) Comic Reader Mobi, but I also like Cloudreader... but what's so great about Comic Reader Zeal that would be worth 8 bucks? I'm honestly wondering, I love reading comics on the ipad and while I like Mobi, I'm not getting any updates for at least a year, if ever again.

I will vouch for Air Video, though... a steal at 3 bucks if you like streaming stuff from your computer.

I never got to try Comic Reader Mobi because it was banned by the time I got an iPad so I can't compare CZ to it, but I use CZ every day and love it. CZ features off the top of my head:

+ Organize comics by series. I use my own manga processor and it has an option to use a CZ naming scheme for the output archives. When these specially named archives are imported into CZ they get automatically sorted into the correct series (they look like School_Rumble~School_Rumble_Ch.001 where the series title is denoted before the ~). Even without the special CZ naming scheme CZ will attempt to sort imported comics into the correct series based on filenames.
+ Each comic gets tracked as either already finished, not yet started, or the page you left off on. If you close the program with a comic open it will return to that open page when relaunching the app.
+ zip/cbz/rar/cbr support
+ Very fast zooming and panning... I've never noticed lag even once no matter how far I zoom
+ Manga mode (flip pages right to left... this is a recent feature and I love it)
+ Easily load the next comic in a series (I'm one of the people who requested this feature. When you try to flip the last page of a comic the menu appears scrolled to the next comic in the current series so you can easily continue reading.)
+ In app screen brightness control (another feature I requested)
+ System wide comic file association (so you can transfer a comic from Dropbox, email, etc. Currently this feature is a little buggy but hopefully will be fixed in the next update.)

The dev listens closely to the community and is always working on new functionality. I just emailed the dev the other day with feature suggestions and a zooming problem I've been having and he replied quickly... the features I want will come in a later update and he's still looking into my zoom problem.

I've played MGS Touch a lot on the ipad. It's slot easier yo manuver.

Thankfully I picked up a few iTunes cards last week while they were on sale at BB, so I'll get to try some of the games u have mentioned.

With all of the current iPhone/iPod sales I think it really showcases just how over priced some of the iPad games are. Angry Birds is a good example its $5 on the iPad and supposedly has less content than the iPhone version thats only $1. We shouldn't have to pay 5-10x the price just for higher resolution textures. :bomb:

Yea I totally agree. I somewhat can deal with the higher prices but geez sooo many good sales going on for the iPhone, like Nova for .99... but on the iPad it sits at 6.99. I am really getting fed up with games that are not universal and games that don't go on sale for both devices.

But with 3 million iPads sold and counting, I think you will start to see all sorts of iPad stuff coming out and once games really have to start competing, you will see prices drop.

Not a game deal, but Sketchbook Pro is on sale for $3.99 (down from $7.99) until July 4. Awesome drawing app. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sketchbook-pro/id364253478?mt=8

Yup, devs are taking advantage of iPad owners since the iPad is the latest and greatest and there isn't as much iPad app competition as there is for iPhone apps. I think the prices will stabilize in a few months once the iPad app market becomes flooded. For now I just buy iPhone games and play at 2x. For the most part iPhone games look and play great on the iPad... Angry Birds is a good example.

Call of Duty: Zombies HD on sale for $9.99 (down from $14.99). Not sure when the sale ends.
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/call-of-duty-zombies-hd/id364159440?mt=8

I picked it up today despite the mixed reviews. The controls are what you would expect on an iPad... not nearly as nice as a real controller, but usable. Game felt a little sluggish, but overall seems like it will be a fun title. Hopefully they update it to increase the speed a little and add the third map that is available on the iPhone version.

Boatload of Good Apps just went on sale.

http://appshopper.com/games/assassins-creed-altairs-chronicles ($4.99 ->>> .99)

http://appshopper.com/games/street-fighter-iv ($9.99 ->>> 6.99)

Phoenix Wright and SFIV are must haves, Crystal War and Assassins creed are good and worth a look.

Scott Pilgrim Punch-Out is still free.

I also grabbed Super 7 HD for free yesterday.
