Apple iPhone & iPod Touch games in the App store are constantly going on sale. While I originally posted games and prices in this post, it's become almost impossible to keep up with it all. Feel free to post in this topic on good deals and games you enjoy. Developers are also encouraged to join in, especially if they are running promos or sales.

If you want to check out a particular game, try the following review sites, or ask in here so fellow CAG's can assist you.

App Review & Price Drop Sites

Important Notes:

 1. Make sure to check for periodic updates either in iTunes or on your iPod\iPhone. For each release of new firmware, theres is usually a bunch of games updated right afterward.
 2. Some applications also go on sale by their authors when they reach 1 million download and similar milestones.
 3. Apps often have specials the day before, during, and after holidays, regardless if said game/app is related to the holiday.
 4. Newly released apps will often have a % or dollar amount off for a limited period of time to gain a large following quicker. While browsing the app store you can go to a particular type or genre and order according to release date. This can make finding new app discounts faster.
 5. Make sure to backup your purchases in iTunes to CD/DVD for safe keeping. You can do this by clicking File-->Library-->Backup to Disc. Then choose all purchases, applications only, and full or incremental backup. How often is up to you, but I do this monthly, or more often if I buy alot of apps.
 6. Apps can be redownloaded without incurring an extra charge if you previously purchased it. This is good if you have a crash and forget to backup your purchases. I don't know if this is a pernament feature so backing up regularly is still important.
 7. I strongly advise not to buy iTunes Gift Cards by 3rd parties unless you know they can be trusted. Retail stores, receiving cards as gifts, etc are the best ways. There are many credit card scams, stolen cards, hacked cards going around, especially on Ebay.
 8. If you are the victim of a iTunes Card scam or get your account locked due to one not all hope is lost. Apple has been fairly lenient on these issues. Call Apple directly at 1-800-MY-APPLE, or check the iTunes Store support site at http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store. Also going to your local Apple Store to discuss it can help. The account locking is an automated process and can be reversed. This can take time so be cautious if you use gift cards from 3rd party sources.
Box drop is free for a limited time. It looks like it has potential. Especially for free.
I got this when it was previously free. Worth checking out especially with the new levels.

What the fuck? i just realized that i have to pay $10 to have 2.2.1?!?! What??????? Until then i can't load any games (applications). HELL?!?!?

Does this make sense?!?!?! I never know this until now... On the iTune it says the update is free for 2.0 users? I got 1.1.5...

$10 for something i suppose to have isn't it? This makes no sense at all. PSP/PS3/Xbox/Sansa updates are all free, this certainly makes no sense, SERIOUSLY!

Sorry for the rant, i didn't know this until i want to give some iPod touch games a try...

I just got a 32GB Ipod Touch, what are the must have and most addicting games, and anything else that is hot and fun to add onto my ipod touch. And are these deals posted pretty good deals, like is what is on sale on sale now and not again for a long time, or do these deals keep reoccurring? thanks!

Congrats, the iPod Touch is awesome and you'll love it.
Definitely get Rolando, it was worth it when it was $10, now it's just $5.

Yes the i-touch is so much fun! And I just got a new macbook 15 incher tho, I wish I waited a week so I could of got the 17 incher but I guess the 15 incher is a lil better cuz its more mobile, and not many book bags are made for 17 inch notebooks. But cant wait to add some i-tune points and download some fun stuff. I also purchased mobile me, has any one tried that out, how does it work?
Well I just ordered my Macbook 17 incher to begin developing my two iPhone games I have planned :) Wish me luck!
I've been intrigued by developing an application as well. Maybe you can keep a blog/site with your progress, if it's not against Apple's NDA.

It's actually not against the NDA because they lifted it. I was thinking about that. So If you guys would read it I should and I would love to definitely make a Blog about my experience developed for the iPhone.

I have NO C experience. (reading a book now) and I'm starting to understand it.
I was a game designer for EA Chicago and for High Voltage Software in Hoffman Estates. So I have some good contacts if I need someone to ask.

But yeah I would definitely love to keep everyone updated on how my development goes.

Question? How does everyone feel about Zombie games? I know they're sorta blowing up but I had this idea a LONG LONG time ago, back in my EA days (that never saw the light of day cause they wouldn't take a chance on it) and I was thinking about doing it for the iPhone. It's Gory, It's twitchy, and most of all it's fun for short amounts of time.

How do you feel about Zombies? Overdone?

I guess if you're interested in me sharing my development stories friend me and I'll sign up for a site specifically for this reason. Hell maybe we can form a CAG Game Development group :)

You can never have enough zombie games. There is a reason they are so popular: almost everyone love them. I have vague ideas for a zombie game myself but zero programming experience.

Long story short; if you developed a zombie game I can gaurantee you one sale :) Good luck!

Question? How does everyone feel about Zombie games? How do you feel about Zombies? Overdone?:)
Zombies are alright, but to me it doesn't really matter as long as it is fun and something I wont play for 10 minutes and be sick of. so I guess it just depends on what the zombies are doing or how I am kicking their A$$. If you want to run some Ideas by me and get my honest opinion, thats cool. You can email me at my username AT GMAIL.

Good luck man, its difficult. I bought a mac mini with the intentions of pushing out some apps myself but it wasnt as easy as I thought and I didnt really have a lot of time to work on it. So I recently sold my Mac Mini on ebay.... : (

I have a couple Ideas for games too if you get up and running, I may share my ideas with you.

Later man, and again good luck.

Has anyone bought Shooter: The Official Movie Game? It's only .99 cents in the app store. The reviews look pretty favorable and it seems like a pretty fleshed out game considering that it's just a dollar. I'm about to download it now and try it out.

I bought it. It is very polished and a pretty long game for $0.99.

I recommend it.

I picked it up as well, I saw it was by Paramount and was really pleased with another one of their games (Days of Thunder) so I jumped on it. Very impressive graphics. Menus and interface are pretty well done, it reminds me of something you would see on a PSP.

However, I just finished 2 missions and am getting kind of bored with it already. If it is the same ol thing over and over, its not really worth the $0.99. Hopefully as I get further into the game it will get more exciting. So far it is Zoom in and fire. look around and fire again, look for another guy and fire again. Also, there is a longer than needed load time between binocular view and sniper view. Hopefully they can get this fixed in an update. At this moment, I guess its worth $0.99 but if its the same thing mission after mission, it wasnt worth it.

after taking a break to work on some non-games, here's a new one:
Tap Tap Mania!
http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=306468217&mt=8
May have to wait a bit for link to be active.

PLEASE leave a review (good or bad) if you use a code. I appreciate people who left reviews for my past games and I really want to know what I did right/wrong. If you used a code in the past but didn't leave a review (The Boxer, Ninja Puzzler), please try to go back and leave one.

I used a code, don't know if you really want me to post a review. Can't say that I'm impressed with it. It's rhythm game-lite minus the music.

used NWFEERE7TTFX. will provide review here and on itunes shortly. thank you

I don't want to bash your app because I cannot program worth a damn so you get props from me for that. As far as fun, it's not really all that fun. I would be dissappointed if I paid for it. I played till stage 6 hoping it would get better but it didn't. Way to repetative. Nothing there to encourage me to keep playing. Got bored with it fast. I am sorry to be the be so rough on you because I realize you probably put a lot of effort into it. I have some ideas to help make it better, i dont know if you change it or if you had someone else do the programming. I really wish I knew objective c and cocoa. I have great ideas just my lack of knowledge limits me from getting them out there. Good luck and once again I am sorry I didn't like your app. It's not terrible, but it's not really good either.

Tried a few codes, but each had been used. I wish everyone would just say if they used one and which one. If I were at home, I'd keep trying, but it's a pain in the ass entering them in from my iPod.

Warning: Not a game. But it's free at the moment (reg. $4.99). CAGs like free, right?

Supersize Me - ZumoDrive

Some sort of virtual media drive that expands the capacity of your device. Guess it's supposed to be an issue for those with only 8 or 16 GBs who have loads of pics and music.

Signing up for an account gets you 1GB of free space for your files. Pay for more than that. I'm sure they'd love to up sell as 1GB could be used up quickly.

I can't vouch for how well it works though. Just downloaded this morning, and I haven't created an account yet. Figures it might be useful for someone here who might need extra space in the future. Might as well get it while the app is gratis.

Newtonica is on sale for $2.99 (normally $4.99)

It is pretty fun, you have to spin an orb to match the colors of falling blocks

GL Golf, the best golf game for the iPhone, is on sale for $0.99.

If you have the slightest interest in golf, pick this up now as the regular price is $5.99.
