Since the old thread was getting too large, I made this new thread to continue.

Apple iPhone & iPod Touch games in the App store are constantly going on sale. While I originally posted games and prices in this post, it's become almost impossible to keep up with it all. Feel free to post in this topic on good deals and games you enjoy. Developers are also encouraged to join in, especially if they are running promos or sales.

If you want to check out a particular game, try the following review sites, or ask in here so fellow CAG's can assist you.

Important Notes:

 1. Make sure to check for periodic updates either in iTunes or on your iPod\iPhone. For each release of new firmware, there's usually a bunch of games updated right afterward.
 2. Some applications also go on sale by their authors when they reach 1 million download and similar milestones.
 3. Apps often have specials the day before, during, and after holidays, regardless if said game/app is related to the holiday.
 4. Newly released apps will often have a % or dollar amount off for a limited period of time to gain a large following quicker. While browsing the app store you can go to a particular type or genre and order according to release date. This can make finding new app discounts faster.
 5. Make sure to backup your purchases in iTunes to CD/DVD for safe keeping. You can do this by clicking File-->Library-->Backup to Disc. Then choose all purchases, applications only, and full or incremental backup. How often is up to you, but I do this monthly, or more often if I buy a lot of apps.
 6. Apps can be redownloaded without incurring an extra charge if you previously purchased it. This is good if you have a crash and forget to backup your purchases. I don't know if this is a permanent feature so backing up regularly is still important.
 7. I strongly advise not to buy iTunes Gift Cards by 3rd parties unless you know they can be trusted. Retail stores, receiving cards as gifts, etc are the best ways. There are many credit card scams, stolen cards, hacked cards going around, especially on Ebay.
 8. If you are the victim of a iTunes Card scam or get your account locked due to one not all hope is lost. Apple has been fairly lenient on these issues. Call Apple directly at 1-800-MY-APPLE, or check the iTunes Store support site. Also going to your local Apple Store to discuss it can help. The account locking is an automated process and can be reversed. This can take time so be cautious if you use gift cards from 3rd party sources.
 9. If you somehow break your iPhone or iPod Touch, you have some options. If you bought the Applecare warranty it should be covered for most items. If your Applecare ran out or you don't have one, try these sites for do it yourself replacement parts & fixes.
Still seeing Battleship as $1.99, am I the only one?
that one is wrong, i think its 1.99 down from 2.99

Simpsons game is solid ... Very similar to the old arcade game with much better graphics. You only play as Homer but I think the other characters appear as support powerups (at least Bart does for sure). Overall, a great buy for 99 cents. The writing is actually amusing and I was surpised by the level of detail in the game.

ipad app's are appearing now in itunes, probably should be a new thread for those though...mostly just "hd" rehashes, I did see Geometry Wars ipad though, which looks sick...the pricing on ipad stuff is pretty high though.

Devil Invasion is now free, down from 99 cents.

Very easy to play, intuitive and addicting. For fans of match 3 games and RPG, this is a must have. It is a pick up and play version of Puzzle Quest
This is a very creative game that involves a bejeweled like twist where instead of up and down, you move in a hexagon, and take away gems diagonally. Get this game while you can, because this is the one of the best cross-overs i have played!
Wolfenstein RPG is great. I bought it when it last went on sale for 99 cents, and it's definitely worth it.
okay sounds good, thanks. bit on wolfenstein rpg too :D . can't beat the price since I don't see anything EA going free anytime soon.

In for Simpsons, Mystery Mania and Wolfenstein RPG. Already had Mass Effect due to me not having the patience to wait for an iphone Mass Effect spin off, no matter how bad it is (its decent for me at least, but definitely not of high quality IMO, but worth a dollar).

What's the story with all the reviews for Wolfenstein RPG slamming the "gold door" bug?

Rimshot. Fretless bass slide. Crickets.

...

No, really, is that a universal glitch?? It's not the $0.99 'risk', it's the time invested in a game doomed (ooh...sorry) to crash.
Good game, recommended.
Yeah, Touch Arcade had a nice write up on ZombieSmash, too. I'm in. I'm on the next-to-last stage of PandaMania (finally) so I'll be itching for some solid Castle Defense-style action again soon. Man, these sales are great but my iTunes account is taking a beating. I'll have to swing by Costco to snag those discounted cards before the weekend's over.
How is Wolfen, can anyone recommend it to me? Even though it's glitched. What about Mystery Mania and Clue?
Haven't played Clue or Wolf, but I like Mystery Mania, you are put into different rooms and you have to figure out how to get out of the room, its a puzzle adventure type game, There is a free version. Try it and see if you like it. Here is the link to the FREE one.

MAN, I have been doing a lot of buying lately and getting some pretty good games. Now I have a problem, I am getting them faster than I can play them. I am losing track.

Are there any apps to keep track of what apps you have but not installed? Like an app manager or something?

Not a game, but Wolfram Alpha has dropped by 94% - From $49.99 to $1.99 and rocketed to #1 Pay App. It's an incredibly useful app, a "computational knowledge engine" that gives you instant answers to many factual matters and does complicated math and chemistry problems as well. I'd never pay anything close to $50 for it, but for $2, it's certainly worth having.
Is GTA: Chinatown Wars the version as on the PSP?
The PSP version may have voice acting, not sure but otherwise all of the versions are the same on DS, PSP and iPhone/iTouch. The graphics are supposed to go in lowest to highest order of DS, iPhone/Touch, PSP.

Good Friday morning to you, fellow CAGers! Here's your app sites roundup:

Free App a Day is showcasing Blade Battle (http://www.freeappaday.com/app.php?day=02&month=04).
OpenFeint has the previously-mentioned Devil Invasion (http://itunes.apple.com/app/devil-invasion/id355469425?mt=8).
Great App a Day has Zepi: Pirates (see above).
Free App Calendar is also featuring Blade Battle.

Hmmm. Since the free app sites are running a little low on unique titles, I offer up Gabuku, a 3-D Sudoku puzzler (http://itunes.apple.com/app/gabuku-3d-sudoku/id294773810?mt=8) for your inspection.

Have a great day! Take some time to play some of those fantastic sale titles we've been blessed with lately. I'm sure there will be more to come. . .

Not sure if it's already been mentioned but Tony hawk pro skater 2 came out yesterday and although it's not a deal for $9.99, I'd highly recommend it if you were a fan. Controls are great and it's just as fun to beat each challenge as it was back on the original playstation.
Kinda pissed that mirrors edge is going to the ipad first
Same here, been looking forward to it on my iphone since it was announced.

The PSP and App Store version of GTA: Chinatown Wars look almost identical. IMO the iPhone/Touch version is the best of the bunch as it combines the touch screen aspects of the original DS release with the superior graphics and sound of the PSP version. Plus it's the cheapest!

smiles HD for ipad is free until tomorrow, the iphone version is an outstanding match 3 puzzler...even if you don't plan on getting an ipad right away, this is a great app to have whenever you get around to getting one. The bigger question is- does this belong in this thread or should a new one be started.

I bought Simpson Arcade for the nostalgia. Of course I can't even play the lot until I sync and reorganize all these free and sale apps.

Apple really, really better come up with an update that allows more pages. So until then, my Touch is still not 3.0 and I get to keep that money away from Steve.

Thanks everyone for your reviews and finds in contributing to my iPod getting fat.

But the controls kill it. No matter how "good" a virtual d-pad can be, it will never ever match the precision of a good d pad.
