CAGiversary!

Since the old thread was getting too large, I made this new thread to continue.

Apple iPhone & iPod Touch games in the App store are constantly going on sale. While I originally posted games and prices in this post, it's become almost impossible to keep up with it all. Feel free to post in this topic on good deals and games you enjoy. Developers are also encouraged to join in, especially if they are running promos or sales.

If you want to check out a particular game, try the following review sites, or ask in here so fellow CAG's can assist you.

Important Notes:

 1. Make sure to check for periodic updates either in iTunes or on your iPod\iPhone. For each release of new firmware, there's usually a bunch of games updated right afterward.
 2. Some applications also go on sale by their authors when they reach 1 million download and similar milestones.
 3. Apps often have specials the day before, during, and after holidays, regardless if said game/app is related to the holiday.
 4. Newly released apps will often have a % or dollar amount off for a limited period of time to gain a large following quicker. While browsing the app store you can go to a particular type or genre and order according to release date. This can make finding new app discounts faster.
 5. Make sure to backup your purchases in iTunes to CD/DVD for safe keeping. You can do this by clicking File-->Library-->Backup to Disc. Then choose all purchases, applications only, and full or incremental backup. How often is up to you, but I do this monthly, or more often if I buy a lot of apps.
 6. Apps can be redownloaded without incurring an extra charge if you previously purchased it. This is good if you have a crash and forget to backup your purchases. I don't know if this is a permanent feature so backing up regularly is still important.
 7. I strongly advise not to buy iTunes Gift Cards by 3rd parties unless you know they can be trusted. Retail stores, receiving cards as gifts, etc are the best ways. There are many credit card scams, stolen cards, hacked cards going around, especially on Ebay.
 8. If you are the victim of a iTunes Card scam or get your account locked due to one not all hope is lost. Apple has been fairly lenient on these issues. Call Apple directly at 1-800-MY-APPLE, or check the iTunes Store support site. Also going to your local Apple Store to discuss it can help. The account locking is an automated process and can be reversed. This can take time so be cautious if you use gift cards from 3rd party sources.
 9. If you somehow break your iPhone or iPod Touch, you have some options. If you bought the Applecare warranty it should be covered for most items. If your Applecare ran out or you don't have one, try these sites for do it yourself replacement parts & fixes.
Well, I'll still post the freebies as I find them. Hope you don't mind. I enjoy getting something for nothing.
Yeah, the fact that a lot of apps are stupid isn't on you, I personally really like seeing your updates. Today I got the Bee Spelled game and it was worth the download. Kind of Boggle with a weak fighting system.
The only "free app a day" deal I ever kept was that Field Goal one where you kick a football through the goalpost. All the rest I've tried were either terrible or boring.
Although Field goal is good and I was just playing again today. The Creeps! offered a week or so ago was the best Free App A day giveaway. That game is awesome for FREE!!

Sorry to be dense about this, but will our current iphones or ipod touches be able to use the new OS or is that for newer models?

Scetch nation shooter just released at .99. It's a build your own shooter and looks pretty cool. Also Solomon's keep is a very good dual stick shooter for .99.

It's kinda hard to complain about free games. 1/2 of them may be crap, but the rest are decent enough. And getting gems like The Creeps and Devil Invasion for free is well worth my time. Many thanks to the folks that are posting these deals!
castle fantasy any good?? how bout any of those EA games that r for sale??
Castle Fantasy has a free Lite version. I suggest you try it out before buying, it wasn't for me after trying it out. From the EA sale, the Simpsons game, Wolfenstein RPG and Mystery Mania were all good for me. The later had a demo Lite version as well. Mass Effect is good is you are a fan or the series.

Hard to say, but I imagine that will be divulged on Thursday. It could be that only the more recent models are compatible, but we'll have to wait and see.

Ditto on both of those! Sketch nation shooter is a great concept - especially w/ the ability to download other's games...and solomon's keep looks amazing for 0.99.
Any thoughts on whether they're going to charge us for an upgrade this time?
They have on the previous two so I have no doubt they will do it on this one as well.

I have a feeling some of these games increase and decrease their prices every day or two to keep themselves on the lists of price drops on sites like AppShopper continually.

CBS didn't try to sue him and I don't think it was his wife that robbed him (though he did accuse her of robbing him), but you got most of the other details right:

no, they did. I saw the story on TV. Either Bio, or History, or Discovery.....one of those more reputable stations. It may have not been a wife, but a girlfriend indeed (at least) as they were in cahoots. The one day he came home, she, and the money, were gone. Never proven of course, but seems to be the most logical explanation.

The court case never formally went to trial as the contestant never did anything illegal and the television station had no case, so it was ultimately dropped/dismissed.

TOPIC : Started using an app called TextFree. I absolutely hate people texting me as I do not text and do not have a plan for them. The app seems to work pretty great so far. Instead of you being charged for texts, the company Pinger pays the fees to AT&T. If I preemptively text the people that text me stating to text to this number (actually an email you get for free in the app) it seems to work. I'm specific about my name so people know who is texting them. Very nice.

There is a full version for 6.00 that doesn't have a daily cap for texts. I like the app so much that I was going to pay for it (yearly renewal thing) but I figured Ill never send more than 15 texts a day (free version)

I got a text through TextFree yesterday about a new app pinger released, called i2i. Its supposed to be specifically for people chatting between iPhones (apparently works with Facebook and some other shit). It even tells you when the person receives the message which I though was a nice feature.

Each app will give you a notification, if turned on, when running other apps just like a normal text message. If you want to save some money on your already overpriced bill, I'd suggest checking them out.

I recommend TextPlus for a texting app... I tried that TextFree and it was a hassle and clunky many times. I have been using the TextPlus app for about 8 months now and it works great.

The problem with TextFree, Google Voice text, etc, are that you can only text to real phone numbers, not short ones used for promotions, nor even to google's own text service that lets you do searches via text. Not that I need that feature with an iPhone, but it is kind of funny.

Espgaluda II gameplay video has been posted! It's in Japanese, but it shows the game. Only thing is this new tap bullets to turn them into crystals thing looks *way* too easy. It's unclear what limits there are on use of that, but the limits don't seem to be much. On the other hand that's just one mode in the game and it does look like the game controls precisely. I can't wait for April 10th!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jt-Jaz1oRAU&feature=player_embedded

EDIT: anyone know Japanese and care to translate at least some of this?
