Since the old thread was getting too large, I made this new thread to continue.

Apple iPhone & iPod Touch games in the App store are constantly going on sale. While I originally posted games and prices in this post, it's become almost impossible to keep up with it all. Feel free to post in this topic on good deals and games you enjoy. Developers are also encouraged to join in, especially if they are running promos or sales.

If you want to check out a particular game, try the following review sites, or ask in here so fellow CAG's can assist you.

Important Notes:

 1. Make sure to check for periodic updates either in iTunes or on your iPod\iPhone. For each release of new firmware, there's usually a bunch of games updated right afterward.
 2. Some applications also go on sale by their authors when they reach 1 million download and similar milestones.
 3. Apps often have specials the day before, during, and after holidays, regardless if said game/app is related to the holiday.
 4. Newly released apps will often have a % or dollar amount off for a limited period of time to gain a large following quicker. While browsing the app store you can go to a particular type or genre and order according to release date. This can make finding new app discounts faster.
 5. Make sure to backup your purchases in iTunes to CD/DVD for safe keeping. You can do this by clicking File-->Library-->Backup to Disc. Then choose all purchases, applications only, and full or incremental backup. How often is up to you, but I do this monthly, or more often if I buy a lot of apps.
 6. Apps can be redownloaded without incurring an extra charge if you previously purchased it. This is good if you have a crash and forget to backup your purchases. I don't know if this is a permanent feature so backing up regularly is still important.
 7. I strongly advise not to buy iTunes Gift Cards by 3rd parties unless you know they can be trusted. Retail stores, receiving cards as gifts, etc are the best ways. There are many credit card scams, stolen cards, hacked cards going around, especially on Ebay.
 8. If you are the victim of a iTunes Card scam or get your account locked due to one not all hope is lost. Apple has been fairly lenient on these issues. Call Apple directly at 1-800-MY-APPLE, or check the iTunes Store support site. Also going to your local Apple Store to discuss it can help. The account locking is an automated process and can be reversed. This can take time so be cautious if you use gift cards from 3rd party sources.
 9. If you somehow break your iPhone or iPod Touch, you have some options. If you bought the Applecare warranty it should be covered for most items. If your Applecare ran out or you don't have one, try these sites for do it yourself replacement parts & fixes.

Lol, I'm retarded and didn't check this page.

Practice your helicopter-death-from-above skills in Thunderstriker or kick back with iFlix Return of the Street Fighter (starring Sonny Chiba!). . .both free.

I was a touch away from buying World Series of Poker Hold 'em Legend by Glu for $3 yesterday but held off hoping it would drop to a dollar and today it did. Best poker game by far according to reviews and from the demo I played, I definitely agree. I think I'll pick up Glyder 2 also with all the praise I've heard about that series.

Beat It! is $.99 for the remainder of the weekend. Really quite a fun little music puzzler game- and great for musicians. You'll see why.

Yeah I downloaded it. I'm really enjoying it, well worth $0.99.

Super KO Boxing 2 is a great deal at $1. Glyder is basically Wii Sports Resort's flying mode extended into a full game. Only for relaxing flying enthusiasts only.

Chop Chop Ninja is on sale for 99 cents - fun game.

Social Player is also on sale, has anybody picked this up yet? Is it any good? Does it only look like the screenshots when playing music thru the app (if you can even do that) or does it look like the screenshot whenever you are playing music??

I'm a huge fan of Glyder, really reminds me of Pilotwings, which I loved. Tried out a few more Glu games, and they're pretty good. From TouchArcade.com:

All Glu games that weren't already 99¢ are on sale for 99¢ (except Deer Hunter 3D for some reason):

•Beat It!, $2.99 → 99¢
•Bonsai Blast, $2.99 → 99¢
•Brain Genius Deluxe, $2.99 → 99¢
•Build-a-lot, $2.99 → 99¢
•Cops & Robbers, $2.99 → 99¢
•Family Guy: Uncensored, $1.99 → 99¢
•Glyder, $2.99 → 99¢
•Glyder 2, $2.99 → 99¢
•Mini Golf Wacky Worlds, $2.99 → 99¢
•Super KO Boxing 2, $2.99 → 99¢

All on sale until Sunday.

I picked three of the free apps (above) at random. None of them seem to be on sale. One of them (Ball Bros) was actually more expensive (at $2.99) than previously. I had a push notice of a bunch of supposed freebies that didn't pan out either. Frustrating. Good thing I already have way too many titles waiting in the wings to worry about this mess.

On a different note, some earlier mentioned that Chop Chop Ninja is currently on sale for .99. I think I paid full price and I'm still enjoying the heck out of it. Highly recommended.
Flight of the Amazon Queen and Simon the Sorcerer 2 are both $1.99
Awesome, I just snagged both of those. I hope the first Simon goes on sale soon as well. $2 is the highest I will go for any game. I wish I had gotten Beneath a Steel Sky when it was a buck, but I will be patient for it to get back there again.

Are there any other adventure games available?

Monkey Blast and its "insane 3D arcade action" is available for free. EA's Jewel Quest Mystery can be had once again for .99 for the time being.

Alice in Bomberland (Hop about, dodge explosives, collect powerups. Feels like a bullet hell after a while) and Harbor Havoc 3D are both $1 now.

+1 for Beat it!. Super fun and challenging, but not frustratingly so. Also bought Trenches, and didn't really like it that much. I'm waiting for the big update to see what else they do with it, but not my favorite for sure.
Everyone, check out Gamebox!!!!

22 FULL games for 99 cents, it's a sickly deal! I bought it!!
I was curious about those X games in 1. I'll take a look. Anyone recommend any others?

I got my mom and both my sisters addicted to DoodleJump and AngryBirds, haha. Great games.

Bought Chop Chop Ninja and not sure how I feel about it yet. Think I'll have to master the controls first.

Penguin Bounce and Spider Pebble are two free games that look nice but the actual gameplay is pretty spotty. Meh.
What's the best Bomberman-esque game for the Iphone? I wonder if the clones are better than the "real" mccoy?
Not sure if the online community is still active, but Bomber Online used to be a great clone.

Yes! Sword & Poker is delicious. Just needed two minutes on the lite version, and I'm filling an envelope with ninety-nine pennies and mailing it to apple.

Count me as another person who tried the lite version of Sword & Poker and then bought the full version for 99 cents. Great, and rather clever, game!
Looks like appvent calendar will return 1/18!
Actually it's a spinoff from that, freeappaday.com, which will do the same thing all year long, it would seem. Nice! Launches on the 18th, but the website is there now. Apparently appvent calendar will also return, but I have to presume they mean for next christmas. Not sure though.

EDIT: Apple needs to put out an update that lets us have more apps on the phone, and of course something like folders/categories!!

If I recall, you can actually have a lot more apps on your phone than you have pages for them. But the only way to find them is to use Spotlight to search. But they'll come up and you can access them. But I agree. I'd love a main home screen with a bunch of folders that open groups of apps like productivity, games, etc.

Aren't there like 9 pages available already? Do you really need more than 144 apps on the phone?

I'm already doing that. I believe the limit is one additional hidden page. At least I seem to recall having read that. In any case, I don't want them hidden. :)

You're joking, right? I have more then 144 apps already and with freeappaday adding probably one new app for every day of the year, even if I toss out 90% of them, you can see where that's going.

EDIT: there's 11 visible pages. That's 176. I have more then 176 *things*. Note that a handful of them are web pages saved as icons. Still, easily over 176 just on my iphone, let alone what's not installed! [think I've got it right now... :)]

You're on a forum where so many free/cheap apps get posted every day, and you really need to ask that? ;)

But really, even moreso than to add more apps, Apple needs to get on the ball with folders/categories so that it's actually possible to organize the apps that are on the phone.

Ditto that, but I do really need more room for apps as well.

One of these days I'll sit down and catalog all the apps I've got, but it will take a while.

Ok 11 pages. 176 apps. I have well over 176 apps but only see the need to have 5 pages of apps at any given time. I d/l them and store them in iTunes. And when my current streak of apps is boring I swap them out. I would hope that any "sane" person would do this.

I'm all for free apps/games daily, but WHO really is playing 176 apps at any given time? That's entirely too much to filter through.

And you can organize the apps using a Jailbroken iPod/iPhone. ;)
And you can organize the apps using a Jailbroken iPod/iPhone. ;)
I tried that. I found it almost entirely unusable, because I don't want to wait 20 seconds or longer for the Categories app to start just to be able to get to another app. Really, there simply is no excuse for Apple not having built some kind of folders or other organization method directly into the OS by now.
I'm all for free apps/games daily, but WHO really is playing 176 apps at any given time?
People make the same argument about storage space for music. You're only listening to a few albums at any given time, so why do you need to have 500 albums on your iPod? Because it's a nuisance to have to swap them out, and I want to option to play any of them whenever I happen to feel like it.

In addition there is another, and rather substantial if you ask me, issue with the idea of only keeping games on your iPhone temporarily - most games do not store their data on a server, and if you delete them from your iPhone it deletes the data - there is no way to recover that data. So, for example, I've got some games that have promised updates and I don't want to lose the progress I've made if and when they ever deliver the updates, therefore, even though I've finished with the games as-is, I don't want to delete the game and lose my progress should they ever deliver the promised expansion! So, yeah, there are some "dead" apps on my iPhone, but I don't want to delete them for that reason. (EDIT: and of course I've got games I haven't finished and eventually would like to go back to - same problem.)

Of course that's another thing apple needs to address with an update!

how mine is at stuck at 11? i have 218 apps only because i use categories but that makes updating apps a pita.
