Since the old thread was getting too large, I made this new thread to continue.

Apple iPhone & iPod Touch games in the App store are constantly going on sale. While I originally posted games and prices in this post, it's become almost impossible to keep up with it all. Feel free to post in this topic on good deals and games you enjoy. Developers are also encouraged to join in, especially if they are running promos or sales.

If you want to check out a particular game, try the following review sites, or ask in here so fellow CAG's can assist you.

Important Notes:

 1. Make sure to check for periodic updates either in iTunes or on your iPod\iPhone. For each release of new firmware, there's usually a bunch of games updated right afterward.
 2. Some applications also go on sale by their authors when they reach 1 million download and similar milestones.
 3. Apps often have specials the day before, during, and after holidays, regardless if said game/app is related to the holiday.
 4. Newly released apps will often have a % or dollar amount off for a limited period of time to gain a large following quicker. While browsing the app store you can go to a particular type or genre and order according to release date. This can make finding new app discounts faster.
 5. Make sure to backup your purchases in iTunes to CD/DVD for safe keeping. You can do this by clicking File-->Library-->Backup to Disc. Then choose all purchases, applications only, and full or incremental backup. How often is up to you, but I do this monthly, or more often if I buy a lot of apps.
 6. Apps can be redownloaded without incurring an extra charge if you previously purchased it. This is good if you have a crash and forget to backup your purchases. I don't know if this is a permanent feature so backing up regularly is still important.
 7. I strongly advise not to buy iTunes Gift Cards by 3rd parties unless you know they can be trusted. Retail stores, receiving cards as gifts, etc are the best ways. There are many credit card scams, stolen cards, hacked cards going around, especially on Ebay.
 8. If you are the victim of a iTunes Card scam or get your account locked due to one not all hope is lost. Apple has been fairly lenient on these issues. Call Apple directly at 1-800-MY-APPLE, or check the iTunes Store support site. Also going to your local Apple Store to discuss it can help. The account locking is an automated process and can be reversed. This can take time so be cautious if you use gift cards from 3rd party sources.
 9. If you somehow break your iPhone or iPod Touch, you have some options. If you bought the Applecare warranty it should be covered for most items. If your Applecare ran out or you don't have one, try these sites for do it yourself replacement parts & fixes.

The Creeps! at $0.99 is the best Tower defense type game on the app store. Its a steal at $0.99. For as much content that it includes, not to mention all the graphics are hand drawn, and awards and leaderboards with ANON, the dev should be charging $2.99 or more.

Highly recommend Plants vs. Zombies as well but it hasnt been on sale yet.
Other recommendations:
Angry Birds
Tilt To Live
Geodefense
Parachute Ninja
Bird Strike
Ragdoll blaster
Dizzypad
The Hero
word ace
Doodle Jump
Mini Squadron
and too many others to mention

Dude! You Rock....:applause: I thought I did good when I got 1.3 mil. then I looked at the leader boards and reality set in that I stink at that game:wall:, But I keep coming back for more. :D
All these free games makes me want to buy an Ipod Touch. I do need an MP3 player so its not like I would only use it for gaming. Anyhow are those cheap now? Can those be jailbroken like the iPhones? Or is it cheaper getting an iPhone w/service plan or something? Just a few advice, dont need to derail thread. Thanx

Also keep those free games coming! Im building my collection so when I get either the iPod touch or iPhone, ill have some cool apps ready.
I bought a 32 gb ipod touch not long ago for that very reason. Mine cost like 170 maybe at Walmart after 20% Bing CB. I chose against the iphone for a few reasons. Mainly my hate for AT&T and the fact that there are more capable smartphones. The iPhone costs as much as the touch although deals are much less sparse and you are looking at probably at least $70 a month for service. The touch can be jailbroken as well.
What could Blue Block possibly be requiring a newer FW for? I've got 3.1.2 (7D11) installed, but it won't install the latest update.
It's now Open-Feint compatible, if I remember correctly.

Cool, thanks for that! I forgot about those Bing deals. Man those come around fall i think. Anyhow that sounds cool how it can be jailbroken like an iPhone but as you say, it would et too expensive for me. Im hoping Sony comes out with PSPhone this E3 or something since I am in the market for a touch phone in the future. Maybe win7 mobile phone, who knows. Thanx for the advice.
parachute ninja is really fun! anybody buy the full game???
It's a great game indeed. I don't think it has a huge amount of longevity, but it's a lot of fun throughout. I hope they are going to put out some more levels. There is also an endless mode which is fun, but for whatever reason I haven't played it a lot. I guess I've got lots of other games to play too so after finishing the main game I moved on. In any case the "campaign", if I can call it that, is worth price of admission anyway.
I'm steadily deleting all these damn apps. It's cool to collect them at first but once you start to play them you see they are garbage. I gotta scale these hoes down. But I'm keeping the really good ones and the ones I paid for.
LOL. Definitely true. Most of the free app of the day various site games are garbage, but there are occasional gems. Also, there are plenty of ones that you wouldn't want to pay for, but which provide a enough entertainment given that you got them free, but you'll be done with them and then toss them out. Tossing out apps is almost as common as installing new ones. :)
It's now Open-Feint compatible, if I remember correctly.
Yes, Blue Block is now OpenFeint compatible, but so are loads of other games I'm running on OS 3.1.2.
whats your favorites?
Recently (and not):

- Bit Pilot
- Tilt to Live (but I play Bit Pilot more)
- Ms. Pac-Man (swipe controls work well for me)
- Pac-Man C.E. (swipe controls again)
- Arkanoid (awesome port of the arcade game, with extras too)
- Mega Man II (the controls aren't perfect as you might expect, but it is quite playable)
- Vector Tanks
- Vector Tanks Extreme
- Sword & Poker (though I got tired of it, I played it for quite some time)
- Wolfenstein RPG
- Wolfenstein 3D Platinum
- Implode
- Jet Car Stunts (damn hard game, but really impressive and still fun, if frustrating due to the difficulty)
- Words With Friends (scrabble, with online play, and you don't have to be online at the same time - uses notificaitons to let you know it's your turn.)
- Mini Squadron
- Parachute Ninja
- Canabalt
- Plants vs. Zombies (but for some reason I stopped playing it, but it is great. I'll get back to it.)
- Angry Birds
- Sky Force Reloaded
- Galcon
- Tiki Towers
- Dizzy Bee 2 (and 1, but just get 2 - it's better and you don't really need both.)
- Crazy Penguin Catapult (entire series, except the new minigame one)
- Shaky Summit (i'm probably alone on this one, but I loved this game. Weird game concept that if you don't figure out, you won't have any fun with it. If you do it's a very entertaining game. Basically it's a race in which your only input is the ability to shake the environment which causes things to happen, such as boulders to fall, rope ladders to drop, etc. You shake it for both your opponent and yourself, and your opponent is trying to do the same thing too. So you try to mess up your opponent without messing up yourself too, and you try to make things happen that benefit you while not benefitting your opponent. All they while they are trying to do the same. Fun graphics and animation too. This was the first iPhone game I liked enough to play through to completion.)

Others I'm forgetting.
I've been waiting patiently for Space Invaders: Infinity Gene to go on sale for $2 or less...hell, I might bite even at $3.
Personally I'm not a fan of the game. I was a bit disappointed in it. It's OK, but I'd recommend the classic Space Invaders (also by Taito) over Infinity Gene. It's just a better game even though it's simpler, and it plays pretty well on the iPhone too (not perfect, but not too bad). Of course I'm probably in the minority on that, but I do like modern shooters too so it's not like I'm just a retro person. I just didn't like this one so much.

is there any way to syn my app from different computer?

i dl these free app to pc @ home and to mac @ work, is there any way to put it in one place?

can i just copy those app from mac app folder to pc app folder?

also, i dl some app to another computer which i cannot access anymore. Is there any way, i can say have itune store let me dl "ALL" my app again? all together at once?

I bought Infinity Gene at $5. It's good. Odd, yes, but I'm a big fan of all the music/shooting-type games. Infinite levels, relatively simple controls that are pretty accurate [you have to be playing it right though ...]. Also, game gets a lot better after you get the Lock On gun.

I bought Tilt to Live because I hoped it would approximate E4. WHERE ARE THOU E4?!? :( Tilt to Live is OK but does not do that great a job of approximating a totally different game.
[I sold my PSP so I can't play the actual article. ...]

So just search for them in the iTunes store and click download - they'll all be free even though the tag won't say that they're free.

And yes, you should just be able to merge the two Mobile Application folders if you want to skip the process of downloading the game.

I dont knwo where else to ask so I was wondering if you guys know what to do.

Not on sale ($1.99), but the author of Bit Pilot (fantastic game) also wrote a completely different game, but also really great, Unify. It's a Tetris variant, but pretty original (turn Tetris on its side and have pieces coming in from both sides at once (also other differences). The multitouch thumb controls work really well well. There is a free Lite version you can try. Like Bit Pilot it has a retro style including awesome chiptunes music.

The trading cards-tower defense hybrid ElementalMonster TD (http://appshopper.com/games/elementalmonster-td) has dropped from $3.99 to .99. The price see-saws quite a bit on this title. I have no experience with it but I just thought I'd mention it for those who may be looking for something vaguely like Sword & Poker (except with trading cards instead of poker hands).

I picked this up earlier and it;s really quite fun. Not worth 4 dollars but at a dollar you really can't go wrong.

OpenFeint is offering a puzzler called Blockhead! (http://itunes.apple.com/app/blockhead/id360142254?mt=8).
Great App is promoting the Mastermind-ish Code Finder (http://www.greatappaday.com/details/code-finder/).
Free App Calendar has another puzzler called A Pictogrid (http://www.freeappcalendar.com/details.php?id=70).
And last, something for you mass destruction fans: Tornado Mania! (http://appshopper.com/games/tornado-mania-free). Wreak havok with your whirlwind for free.

Looks like a good day for puzzle game fans. Hopefully, at least one of the titles above won't completely suck. Enjoy!

I went ahead and dropped a buck on this last night and I was pleasantly surprised. It's nothing like Sword & Poker, but it is an interesting variation on the tried and true Tower Defense genre. I liked the fact that it uses monsters instead of straight-up weaponry to defend the home base. The cards come into play at the end of each stage where you can purchase additional monsters to do your bidding. Each monster is also associated with an element (air, water, fire, etc.) that makes it more (or less) effective against enemies. I'm not a big fan of RPGs or D&D stuff, but I must admit it's oddly satisfying to watch my assorted minions whoopass on the bad guys. Good times, indeed.

best buy is having a sale on their 30 dollar itunes gift cards(the one with 3 10 dollar cards) for 25 bucks starting on Sunday, that's a pretty good percentage off.

Nice, will pick one up and use my rewards credit. Thanks.

May have been mentioned already, but BestBuy still has the offer a $5 BB giftcard if you purchase a $50 itunes card.

Something else to keep in mind, there is Bing cashback available for BestBuy. So order online, do instore pickup, get some cash back later down the road.
any recommendations on a good casino game that has both poker and blackjack?
Astarware Casino has video poker, 3 card poker, texas hold'em, blackjack, baccarat, craps, roulette, derby, keno and slots. It also has OpenFeint with achievements, so that's kind of cool. I can't really comment on how it compares to other casino games as it's the only one I've played. it's not the prettiest thing I've ever seen, but it all works well enough. I got it when it was free. Maybe it's still free? I haven't checked. I'm not sure I'd want to pay for it, but I'm not really much into casino games.
