Is it best to OPen Arc the lad collection PS1 or leave it sealed

As the popular saying goes "if you leave it sealed for ten years, you'll be rich." Of course, you must make the decision as to whether or not to believe that.

I own all 4 of the Working Designs boxsets (Lunar 1+2, Arc the Lad, Growlanser), all sealed. I have a similar problem... But I'm thinking of just buying disc only copies to play, if they can be had cheaply. Or maybe rented or borrowed. I buy my games to play, but these would take a drastic hit to their value if I opened them.
Burning copies to play is also an option (but think of the poor software industry!). I'm sure I'll figure something out.

I highly doubt Arc the Lad Collection will be worth much even in 10 years. There is just not that much demand for this game. Have you checked eBay for latest going rate? It is not even getting the MSRP for sealed auctions.
Another question you can ask yourself is, "Are you ever going to actually sell it?"
For me the answer is easy, no. I can't bring myself to sell any of my games. I pick and choose them wisely and therefore don't have that many.
For example, I just recently opened my sealed Nintendo 64 Majora's Mask (Gold), Ocarina of Time (Gold), Donkey Kong 64 (w/ Expansion Pack), Diddy Kong Racing, Pilot Wings, Blast Corps, and Cruis n USA. As well as sealed Zelda Oracle of Ages and Seasons. Why? To play of course! I never plan on selling them anyway.
Also, I am still looking for a Earthbound 64. If I find one, I am opening it to play.

i open my games right when i receive them...no matter how rare they are and no matter if i never get around to playing it....i open them and purchase them with the intent on playing, not investing....but one day, if i ever do sale my collection, im sure i won't be too upset with the amount of money i make off of it....though i doubt id ever sell, no matter how desperate i become
with the amount of games that i have, ive come across a few here and there that didn't have any disc inside....i took them back without a problem, but i still felt like shit when i took them back...i felt like everyone was looking at me like i was a thief, but it apparently happens more then you'd think....i bring this up because im curious as to how many missing discs there are in everyone's sealed rare game collections....

In the 6 years it took for Panzer Dragoon Saga to reach those numbers on ebay, a person caould easily save a couple hundred dollars. All I'll say is I always buy games to play them or add to my collection and I usually don't open new games unless I am ready to play them all the way through. That's just a personal preference of mine.
If you got ten more games to play, leave your Arc sealed until you are ready to play it. BTW the PS Lunars don't fetch high value because they are fairly common compared to their Sega CD releases.

talking about the lunars for the sega cd i was looking and noticed that it seems one of them i have (got 2) is one of the rare ones (i think its either number 5 or 6 out of the 7 they made) Sadly i cant find my box or book so it brings the vaule down hard

why buy a game if you're not even going to play it? Video games are such an awful investment.

The only time a game could be an investment is if you buy several copies of something you know is having a limited print run or something or own your own game business. Having a single copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga that even goes to $400 isn't as huge a deal as it seems. If you had 10 PD Sagas then that would be something to work with. It's about volume. That's why I don't anticipate selling many if any of my games. Even if my copy of Snatcher goes to $150, once I sell the game and get the cash, the cash won't last that long. I'd rather keep the game in the long run and earn an extra hundred at work. Even on the occasions I do buy more than one copy of a game (FF III and Chrono Trigger for SNES) it is mainly just to have a backup.
