Let's see. Younger Americans not only foot the bill for Social Security and Medicare and all the huge increases in those voted in by politicians of the older generation, but they are much more likely to be unemployed (http://www.bls.gov/news.release/youth.nr0.htm), have lower salaries and less savings. So the answer propagated by Obama and the idiots on Capitol Hill? $250 payments to seniors. ing hell.

Hope springs eternal. Medicare is already going into the red and Social Security will soon follow. We then have a wonderful choice between (1) 80-90 percent tax rates which will destroy the economy; or (2) radically cutting these mismanaged government bastard children and thereby basically robbing us of what we have have been forced to contribute during our working years toward retirement (in programs with a flat rate of return when adjusted for inflation like Social Security) instead of being able to manage our own money to much greater advantage. CPI is negative, unless you want to argue that isn't a good measure. Social Security recipients got a huge increase last year due to high gas and grocery prices, so they're coming out ahead already. It's quite simply a transparent attempt to buy the votes of old people with their own money.

Oh yes, and both parties are (of course) in favor of buying these votes. After all, the money would be received close to elections next year, and every incumbent needs a little $250 gift to the group that votes the most. Many of them are rightly afraid for their jobs. Of course, the Republicans want the money to come out of "stimulus" funds instead of just stealing it from the next generation...which is like wanting to take it out of stolen funds anyway.
