*Update* Well, I went to my urologist and had a IV Dye tracer. From what he could tell, there was minor corrosion to a certain area on the inside of my urethra. He said that if I haven't changed anything besides the consumption of the Diet Mountain Dew, then there's a large chance that's what caused it. I was tested for STD's, vericose veins near the bladder, and internal injuries and nothing came up. We also ruled out my sports nutrition supplements and the extra running I've been doing. I'm going to get a few more tests done to see if we missed anything, but so far all signs point to the mountain dew. I think after the next round of tests I'llt ry an experiment and start drinking it again to see if the bleeding starts up.
*OLD*Over the past month or so I had(may still have?) a, let's call it "minor", problem. On occassion, blood would just start to leak out of my urethra. Not in urine or anything, it would just leak out. My physician and urologist didn't know what was wrong (No STD's, no internal injuries, no UTI), so I had to reschedule an appointment for this month for more tests. Now, I drink a great deal of diet pop (about 44oz or so) and eat a beefsteak on my lunch break. I began to notice that I bled more often when I got Diet Mountain dew than, say, Dr. Pepper, so I decided to experiment a little and stopped getting Mountain Dew. Well, it's been over two weeks and I haven't seen one drop of blood. I'm not entirely positive that the Dew was the cause, but it strikes me as more than coincidence. It's the only thing in my routine I've changed (I'm still drinking pop), so I'm not sure as to what else it could've been. Just a heads up to dew lovers out there, and I'll keep you posted.
