It's Bigger than "The Hip-Hop Thread"

Blaq Poet might just of released the AOTY :hot: I see similarities with that Madvillainy album that came out a couple of years ago.

word?!?! Blaqprint was terrible. That record was like Primo's diarrhea or something.

I did notice his new record isn't even on Premier's label too

Random Axe... that's a great album.

I wasn't too keen on Blaqprint either, just a couple of tracks, but his new one has great production and is one of the more interesting albums lyrically I've heard in awhile.

Listened to Random Axe for the first time earlier today and that one was great too, Black Milk delivers. Should be coming on next once I'm done with the Pete Rock album again.

I've been rotating between Blaq Poet, Curren$y, Pete Rock & Smiff-N-Wessun and Random Axe's new albums as I paint my old apartment pre-moving today.

which Curren$y?

that bad meets evil album is pretty good for a quickly made EP.

If Blaq Poet is 50% of the record Madvillainy is, I must hear it.

Bought Random Axe last week, still haven't played it.

new Vakill MV... get hype!!!

been waiting so long for a followup to Worst Fears Confirmed... not only one of my favorite records of 2000+, but probably of all time.

u can preview snippets at Molemen's site;

I am very happy to at least know the beats all live up to the last album, which was one of the reasons that record was so great.

one of the songs in particular, track 6, Heavy, appears to be sampling my favorite game of all time.

has anybody here played Chrono Trigger?!?! ^_^

Just got hip to The Black Opera and their Overture joint which is pretty fucking dope. I'm also extremely happy to hear Ethereal got signed to Yelawolf's label to drop Abstractica. I've been a fan of his for a long time now. So glad he's finally in the game. Very inspiring.

lol it's not really a leak when it hits the Internet the day it actually comes out.

I think señor woohoo's site had the review of it early tho...

and I think Vakill has 4 records, he has a real early one called Kill Em All which I don't think I've listened to...

gotta get on my homework then!

I listened to that Blaq Poet album.

I agree with the canadian... dang that record is the fire!!!!!

I just picked up that new Black Rob album! like whoah!!

also picked up Gangrene + Roc Marciano!

I was talkin about how great the Pete Rock Smif N Wessun album was on neogaf, and someone straight up told me Action Bronson and Shaz Illyork albums are better. Shaz Illyork's mixtape is definitely not better, but Action Bronson just might be!!

this dood sounds exactly like Ghostface! also, his style is very funny at times. Definitely another record Im really enjoying.

I could go to that but I think I'm too old to be at that show.

Anyone anticipating Honkey Kong?

Also, wondering if anyone had opinions to share on Watch the Throne and the new Cool Kids.

I recently introduced myself to Apathy and quite enjoy him, will be looking forward to Honkey Kong.

In regards to Watch The Throne, you can click this link to a thread dedicated to it.

Thought I would shout out to the gentleman that pointed out Kendrick Lamar's Section.80, I've been loving that one since. IMO, AOTY material.

lol I downloaded that yesterday strictly based off the cover.

have no idea what it is.

I finally picked up Gutter Rainbows yesterday, along with;

That Slaine album is good. I wish more of the production stood out, but it is a solid album.

Royce's album is nothing outstanding, but has a couple of good tracks.

That third album looks interesting, will probably look into getting that one, I really liked The Left's Gas Mask.

I've skimmed over Kendrick's previous two albums a bunch of times now, but can never bring myself to focus on them. They both sound great, expecially OD, but I'm still working on giving them a full listen.

After work tomorrow I will be driving down to NYC for Rock The Bells on Saturday! :bouncy:

Having checked out the set times, my itinerary is as follows:
(In running order, acts in bold are my primary focus when overlapped)

Random Axe
Black Star/Evidence
Cypress Hill/Freddie Gibbs
Fashawn+Blu+Exile/Black Moon
Souls of Mischief/Mobb Deep
Lauryn Hill/GZA
Rae+Ghost/Nas

There are couple of other acts I'm dissapointed I will miss, but I think I will be very satisfied

aw maaaan.

so I heard One Be Lo released a few mixtapes...

I went to check them out and to my surprise;

this dood just released an actual freakin album!!!

that's the good part.

the bad part is I prolly wont get around to listening to it until like a month coz I'll be too busy digging into the two mixtapes o_O

stream + DL link: http://onebelo.bandcamp.com/releases the 2 mixtapes are free too!!

also on the subject of mixtapes;

http://uptownxo202.bandcamp.com/

X.O. from Diamond District released one too!!!

everyone knows I loved yU's album, so I cant wait to dig into this one too!!!

if u mean like single producer with a ton of guests, to be honest, I dont really like most producer albums.

every time I listen to one Im always disappointed. I wasnt feeling Ski Beatz, DJ Deadeye, Nottz, Snowgoons, I even didnt like Primo's album!!

I hated 9th Wonder's Dream Merchant so I didnt have any expectations for Wonder Years... but it ended up being real good.

Statik Selektah is always good, I do really like his new one, better than 100 Proof.

DJ JS-1 came out earlier this year, it's actully pretty alright.

but of course, Pete Rock, cant go wrong with any of his stuff.

music wise, the new Phonte is real good.

Kno & Marq Spekt.

and 2 years late, but I just learned about Get Busy Committee, a group with Ryu and Apathy in it o_O
The Roots' Undun is spectacular. Do yourself a favor and d/l it from Amazon mp3 today for 4 bucks.
I bought the CD, looking forward to listening to it tonight.

That works too, but I'm a true cheap ass haha

I have Undun, but it'll have to wait until I'm done with Childish Gambino's Camp. I know I'm late, but I just got the time to give it a proper listen.

I thought Gangrene's new album was underwhelming on the first listen, liking it a lot.

Never listened to Chip Tha Ripper before this mixtape, really liking this!

Emilio Rojas' latest came out today after he confirmed its release just last night. This one may turn away some fans, but personally I love it. Maybe just a touch too polished, gives me Rich Forever vibes in that respect.

oh shyt Gangrene! gotta get that!

I havent posted in a while so here's a couple of 2011 late passes:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9FxhgHAcwc

Eligh & Amp Live, real good.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8msEDEoH8Q

yU - The Earn. real real good.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FZydkVfwM0

Statik Selektah x Action Bronson... not as good as Dr. Lecter

cant remember anything else Ive been listening to these past 2 months that've stood out,

except for childish gambino... never heard of him but I really enjoyed it!!

Definitely gotta check out that Emilio Rojas. He's been getting better and better with each release.

Make sure to check out The Cleveland Show if you want to listen to more Chip.
