If Jericho defeats Edge, does that mean he gets his old gimmick back*?

This was a good show that lacked anything great except for the Punk and Jericho speeches and Striker not only referencing Col DeBeers, but also the Simpson Brothers. Morrison's injury still feels too forced, but is at least plausible and realistically executed compared to Bret's on Raw. Plus, his will act as a fine trojan horse to get HBK in the Chamber to cost Taker the title. Edge vs. Batista was a fine example of why Edge shouldn't be in the ring right now - he looks out of shape and moves slower than Batista. This was a clash of the two most injury-prone guys in the company, and the dude with a few thousand more muscle tears just zipped around the ring compared to the younger, lighter Edge.

This doesn't give me much hope for Jericho-Edge as a match, but I'm sure the buildup to it will be awesome. The Zeke video package was quite good, as was the Dudebusters (thank God they're now using that name on WWE TV...kinda) vs. Cryme Tyme match, which showcased both teams well and featured some fine comedy as Striker lectured the youngsters who spent too much time on their Twitters and yes, WWE Universe blogs. His company shilling is ungodly, but is at least funny, unlike Cole's, which is just annoying.

IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!

Quotes -
Jericho - I’ve made a career out of doing what none of you failures could ever do. I’ve made an art form out of accomplishing the impossible. I’ve stared down the barrel of an insurmountable odd time after time and yet I always come out on top. I did it when I defeated Austin and the Rock in the same night to become the first undisputed champion, when I embarrassed HBK In his ladder match to become world champion again, and last week, I did what few have ever done - I drove the phenom to his knees and defeated the Undertaker! I BEAT THE UNDERTAKER! I BEAT HIM! I BEAT THE UNDERTAKER! I proved that the dead man is only a man! And if that wasn’t enough to cement my legendary status, this Sunday, I’m gonna beat the odds again when I enter the Chamber for the 6th time and become world champion for the 6th time. Average people, when faced with adversities, curl up and hide and lie, hide behind delusions of grandeur - I don’t hide behind anything because I don’t have to. I deal with reality, and In reality, on Sunday, I’m coming out of the chamber as the new… (Edge comes out)
Edge - Ya know Chris, it’s refreshing to hear that you understand what a big deal it is to beat the Undertaker. I know, I’ve done it. It’s like sinking a hole in one or winning the Stanley Cup or knocking out Ali. But it’s actually bigger than all those things, and you did it.
Jericho - Of course I did - because I’m the best in the world at what I do.
Edge - You saying that illustrates the real problem with you, and your clip didn’t exactly show everything. Don’t make any mistake - I didn’t do it to help you, I did it because Taker kicked me in the face. Chris, you’re not as good as you think you are. As a matter of face, I don’t think you would’ve beaten him If I hadn’t speared him first.
Jericho - You should be as concerned about the past as you are about the future. I’m going to win the chamber. And when I do, do yourself a favor and stay away from me, please. Face the Raw chamber match winner, but stay away from me. When you’re near me, BAD THINGS HAPPEN. And if you continue to prod, I’m not just going to beat you - I’M GOING TO HURT YOU!
Edge - You know, Chris, the more I hear your voice BUZZING IN MY HEAD SAYING THE SAME THINGS OVER AGAIN, THE MORE I WANT TO KNOW THAT HOLIER-THAN-THOU LOOK OFF YOUR FACE. So Chris, I hope you win the chamber so I can do it! You shouldn’t be concerned about hat I can do to you in the future, you should be concerned with what I can do to you right now!
Striker - ON SUNDAY, KANE WILL FACE THE UNDEFEATED INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION, DREW MCINTYRE!
Grisham - How about the DETERMINED AGGRESSION from Kane?!
Striker - 40% of all IC champions have gone onto be either WWE or World champions. 20% have become Hall of Famers!
(after the IC title match is JUST ANNOUNCED)Striker - MANY FEEL THAT MCINTYRE’S UNDEFEATED INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE REIGN IS OVER ON SUNDAY!
Striker - Baretta and Croft are much like all of the new generation - more concerned with posting on Twitter and WWE Universe.com than educating themselves! They’re the Dudebusters! And they love video games - improves hand-eye coordination. They’re around each other 24/7 like all good tag teams.
Grisham - I heard that Baretta’s mother drives them around all the time.
Grisham - They also broke their own hackey sack record.
Striker - People still play hackey sack?
(on Baretta/Croft)Striker - I see a little bit of the Rock and Roll Express and Brainbusters in there.
Grisham - Friday night’s usually their gaming night - they’re fitting us into their schedules.
Grisham - “Brooklyn’s Beast” Shad Gaspard!
Striker - “THE BIG CHIN” HIMSELF, ANTONIO INOKI - WELCOME TO THE WWE HALL OF FAME!
Morrison - Josh, I’ve been waiting for a shot at the World Heavyweight title ever since I waited in line for hours with other potential future sports entertainers to prove if I was tough enough!
Striker - WWE is like the snow - some walk in existing footsteps, and others walk their own path. Like CM Punk.
Punk - I am a humble, humble man, but let’s face It - I AM THE GREATEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO YOU PEOPLE AND YOU KNOW IT! (fans boo) Sure, only the enlightened few can walk in my precious footsteps, but whether you like It or don’t like it, you are all a part of my crusade! (fans chant you suck) And for those who choose to live in darkness and stand In my way, I find your lack of faith disturbing! YOU CONFUSE YOUR DEFIANCE WITH POWER. YOU SACRIFICE YOUR CLARITY FOR CHEAP THRILLS, AND JUST LIKE FIVE OTHER SUPERSTARS LOCKED IN THE CHAMBER WITH MYSELF, I WILL CRUSH YOUR SPIRIT AND I WILL BREAK YOU, TURN YOU UPSIDE DOWN, AND POUR WHAT LITTLE HEART YOU HAVE LEFT ONTO THE FLOOR AND FILL THE VOID WITH STRAIGHT EDGE! You can pretend you don’t have a problem, but you’re lying to yourselves. STRAIGHT EDGE MEANS I AM BETTER THAN YOU. I WILL PROVE IT TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU, JUST LIKE LAST WEEK WHEN I PUT REY TO SLEEP! I AM FUELED BY A FIRE INSIDE OF ME, AND THIS SUNDAY, I WILL BECOME FOUR-TIME STRAIGHT EDGE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION! AND MY CRUSADE WILL BE BURNING BRIGHT - BECAUSE YOU LOST SOULS IN THE WWE UNIVERSE WILL HAVE A SAVIOR AND HIS NAME WILL BE CM PUNK!
Striker - R-Truth’s entire life has been about overcoming obstacles and living life the right way!
Striker - Morrison has been going Bs to the wall lately!
Grisham - Khali does the…Khali shuffle!
Striker - This match Is simple - guys on guys, girls on girls, and guys can’t get in there with girls no matter how much they want.
Striker - On Tuesday, Matt Hardy will coach a South African - and it’s not Col. DeBeers or one of the Simpsons boys!
Striker - She’s Nattie by nature, and naughty by choice!
Matt - Maria, I’ve won matches, and lost matches - AND IT DOESN’T CHANGE THE KINDA PERSON YOU ARE IN HERE!
(to Simply Flawless)Matt - Children, would you PLEASE grow up?!
Striker - There is something curious about Batista - I think he knows something the rest of the WWE Universe doesn’t!
Striker - Edge suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon - an injury that takes people out for 12 months. EDGE BEING THE WORLD-CLASS ATHLETE AND SUPERSTAR THAT HE IS WAS BACK IN LESS THAN 7!

As far as ROH goes, get the Man Up DVD - beyond having the best ROH PPV ever, it's also got Evan Bourne's final ROH match.
For someone who is unfamiliar with ROH, would anyone suggest a DVD or something to watch to get me acquainted with the product?
Man Up was a pretty awesome PPV but if you can, you would be better off just watching RoH on HDNet

ROHBrazil puts up full episodes on YouTube

Edge is injury-prone? Since when?

Seems like every guy who gets hurt once every 5 years is injury prone these days. Times must be tough.
Bar none my favorite podcast.

Cornette on Vince Russo's writing style: he says everything is based on the "two dogs fuckin' on the side of the road theory."

Same here. Cornette is always good for a laugh but i do agree with mostly everything he says.
Pretty good show aside from the WTF-ish Joe abduction that reminded me of the Fresh Prince being kidnapped in Philly and taken to Bel-Air so his show could continue. Angle's AWESOME promo turning into another RAH RAH RAH AMERICA! one kinda bugged me, but damn was he ever on fire before that. And of course, the Pope-Flair stuff on the mic was awesome. I'm not sure exactly what Hogan/Abyss was, but it was at least impossible to turn the channel during it. Match-wise, the however-many-man X division tag was fine, but man was Kaz ever a lame former champ to bring back.

OJ beating Joe wasn't as bad as I thought, largely due to the cool-looking tornado backstabber and Joe getting up immediately selling it as a fluke, but still kinda helping OJ out. The show-closing deal with Nash and Hall was a good way to build up what I guess will be a Band vs. EY/Nash tag match on the 3/8 Impact, but wasn't on par with the other great stuff on the show. Abyss-Jarrett was perfectly fine, but my favorite JJ moment involved his double-wide dressing room - that thing was hilarious.
I thought the show was meh. I mean Ken Anderson throws 3 punches to the head of Kurt Angle and he is down? fucking really? Ken Anderson knocks out Kurt Angle with 3 punches because he just throws the punches at his wound. Way to go Russo! you just made angle look like a pussy. AJ as a heel is pathetic. He cant even sell the rich player type at all. Robert Roode was made for that roll..not AJ...heck the Pope is a better choice. WTF happend to abyss...ever since James Mitchell stopped managing him....he just gets misused in every angle he has been in. No longer he is this devasting monster but now he too like Angle on that night is a pussy. Beer Money's wrestling is the only thing I watched that night. They are one of the best tag teams i have ever seen. Just have no clue why TNA doesn't keep pushing them....same too for the motor city machine guns.

Apologies for the rants guys.. like it or not..this is what i thought and sorry if i might have irked or pissed people off.

Right. Cornette has his biases based on who writes his paycheck, but if we want to disagree with him, point out where he's actually incorrect in what he says. TNA's obsession with minute-by-minute ratings changes reinforces Cornette's criticism of the TNA product. If they emphasizes professional wrestling, as they claim, do you think he'd continue to criticize them?

Also, I fear that NXT may be rigged. Sure, all wrestling is a work, but given that Otunga is engaged to Jennifer Hudson, let's be real: celebrity networking beats workrate every damn time. Danielson will not win NXT and move onto the main roster. Their exclusion of Low Ki already confirms they couldn't give a fuck about workrate. As for Wade Barrett, I saw him 3-4 times in OVW when he wrestled as Stu Sanders. Dude has a good look (better than the skinny drinkowater he was in Louisville), but good gawd I hope he's 100% more exciting in the ring.

I second Man Up if you're checking out ROH. I was there! Amazing show.
...Otunga is engaged to Jennifer Hudson...
That's where I've heard that name before. It was familiar but I couldn't place it. Thanks, myke, you're a regular US Weekly. :)
In case it hasn't been posted, MVP's been replaced on the NXT roster by William Regal.
I bet The Miz is behind this somehow. :whistle2:k

Holy hell at Smackdown tonight and it mostly being tag matches! I never thought I'd see the day. Haha, "Dude Busters." That's almost corny enough to be great. Speaking of them, their match against Cryme Time was pretty good. Not great, but...well, it was good enough that I decided to wait until it was over to go to the bathroom. It was THAT good.

I hope I wasn't the only one who laughed at Emperor Punk's Star Wars reference. But, knowing the amount of kids who watch now, I bet it went over some heads. Each time I hear Punk say "I can save you," I get a flashback to Will Smith in "I Am Legend."

Wasn't Cornette writing and booking WWF before Russo? The TL Hopper, Sparkplugg etc days? I'm pretty sure that's what Russo said in his shoot
Guess who thinks it was another good show?

You get one guess.
Were you 16 minutes late in telling that joke, or am I missing something?
--------------
For RoH, the weekly TV show is good, if you can get it... if not, torrent it or youtube it.
Also, I fear that NXT may be rigged.
Well, yeah.

Randomly came across this on my computer, thought I'd share.
