All right, I was going to avoid the GGT until I realized I just had to post to clear things up.

I took a look at Sony's 1st-party release list for the rest of '08 and early '09, and its kinda lackluster, IMO. No real "must-buy on day one" games there.

Yeah, I was pretty shocked by how 'meh' that lineup is looking. Doesn't look like I'm destined to own any PS3 retail games for quite a while now.
LittleBigPlanet is very big.

Unless someone isn't into FPS, R2 is pretty big because Insomniac is one of the best developers out there, Resistance 2 looks to improve the first in multiple ways (the first was pretty good too, just needed more impressive graphics and maybe a few other refinements). There's a decent number of stuff from the list I want.
As for PSN Games, I am telling everyone that the list ONLY goes up to Summer 08. Does not include any Fall 08 or Winter 08 games (which will be silently revealed at E3 mostly, like last year).
But to let everyone know, every single year, SCEA (not SCEJ or SCEE) will announce release dates (or time frames) for games they KNOW for sure will be out this year. Most every game is not surprising, or if it is something they haven't announced, it's normally another installment of a game they already made many installments on a particular platform (like during the PS2 era, they kept announcing a new SOCOM, R&C, Jak, and Sly during the same time). This does NOT include any possible surprise at E3 or any other game that has an embargo stuck on it. I know many are wondering about a Team ICO game, Afrika, White Knight Story, etc., but they will NOT be mentioned by SCEA themselves until they are released (or near release) in their respective territory (either Japan or Europe). SCEA kept quiet about Hot Shots Golf: OoB, Wipeout Pulse, Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2, and to an extent GT5P release date until they were released in their respective territories first. Once a game is finished there, the other regions will pick the game up and translate it (if they choose to bring it over. If not, other publishers can).
And anyway, what types of big/must-buy games were you expecting then?
-God of War 3 will not come until early 2009 at the earliest, because God of War 1 and 2 were spaced out about 2 years, and I highly doubt it will take them less than 2 years to make God of War 3.
-A new Syphon Filter (which is what I badly want) will not come out until at least later 2009, since the developers just finished Logan's Shadow back in October 2007.
-A PS3 Twisted Metal is a ways off, since Eat Play Sleep is only like a year old or so, and their first game was just a PSP port with a few extras.
-As for InFAMOUS, it has been said the developers took some time off after Sly 3 (I believe SCEA doesn't own Sucker Punch either, although I could be wrong), and then started development. Rumor is the development is in serious trouble and might be dropped by SCEA, but right now it is listed as 09 (but we really don't know what's going on.
-A new Naughty Dog game will not come out until next year. With Jak on PS2, they released it during the 2nd year of PS2, then released the next in the 4th year. Since Uncharted was just finished and it will be year 3 for PS3, I don't expect anything until next year.
-Insomniac is now pumping out a game a year it seems. Last year was Ratchet & Clank, this year is Resistance. Next year it is very likely they'll bring out a platformer.
-Zipper Interactive, we don't know. While Idol Minds, I have no idea whether they are still with SCEA. Incognito (originally Single Trac mostly) is pretty much dead, but I now refer to them as Eat Play Sleep basically
There are a bunch of games coming from Japan (we just heard Team Siren's game, but there's Team ICO's game, Team Saru, etc.), but like I said before, we will not know anything until SCEJ announces them themselves, and either releases it or gets near release (is when we know whether SCEA is bringing the game over and when). And there are definitely a lot of games in development at Europe (like in SCEE's Liverpool, Cambridge, more games from London, and other developers), but we will not have firm releases until SCEE makes the announcements (and possibly releases the games).
The only games that do not go this route, are the few (and I mean only a few, like maybe 4 a year) which are targeted for all regions about the same time (Part of an SCE Worldwide games).
Overall, there WILL be more games. SCEA is ONLY listing games they've already mentioned (or ones we already know about) for now, until E3 (so the judges know what to expect and such). If anyone though God of War 3 was being revealed today, is foolish.
Also, I noticed the release doesn't even mention PS2 SingStar games coming along with Volume 2 on PS3 (partially because a PS3 SingStar comes soon, and these are SCEE games), so it's not complete.
Although if anyone is curious about SCEA releases, check this out (although PoPoLoCrois II on PS1 never came stateside by them, or at all):
Yea seriously, I don't understand the Killzone hype...
I played part 1, and I didn't like it at all, didn't even try to finish it.
I liked part 1, but will not deny it was far from perfect.
I don't get the hype formula / PS fanboys trying to reach for anything they can (here's looking at you TMK if you're reading this)... If you do reply, I'd expect the same 4 paragraph reply template you use to poorly illustrate your point, mixed in with a smiley face somewhere.
I enjoyed Killzone for what it was, felt Liberation was excellent, and that's why I want Killzone 2. Also, Guerilla has greatly expanded, got a new head producer, and has completely turned around since Killzone was released (especially after SCEA bought them out). Before being owned by SCEA, Naughty Dog use to not be really anything special, and now they are one of the best.
BTW, I can understand hype for Resistance 2. 8 player coop will be fun. (Assuming that it is done right...)
We can have GGT Squad Alpha ready and waiting to go into battle
Sign me up.
Although Killzone 2 has the better graphics, I do feel R2 deserves more hype. The first was very good (especially for a launch game) and the sequel looks to be way better, which is why I'm excited.
