Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

Our CAG Japanese Niche Games Thread also has a community on PS4, where you can interact and game with other members of the thread.

Our moderators are: Draekon, Las_Hole, and Waffleswanton

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

I've honestly never seen any mods for Sega All-Stars Racing which is odd since the Sonic community loves to mod Sonic games.

I've honestly never seen any mods for Sega All-Stars Racing which is odd since the Sonic community loves to mod Sonic games.

One more week until Persona 5 releases! And... Waifu War One begins...

April 4th, 2017 - Archduke Whoknows gets shot on his way to Best Buy to pick up Persona 5.

April 5th, 2017 - Olengie and the Forces of Ann declare war on the T&E Empire to fight for total control over the Niche-part of CAG.

April 7th, 2017 - Nothing371 and Pheria sign the secret treaty of Makoto.

April 11th, 2017 - Neomonk and the Futaba Empire invades the Forces of Ann, a stalemate is reached.

April 20th, 2017 - BlackRockWaifu finally joins the fight as the United States of Morgana.

Still waiting to hear whether it's April Fools or whatever, but I bet it's legit. I could definitely use a Blue tome user; don't have one of those. It's interesting that there's finally a flying tome user, but I'm already using too many greens. I'm approaching 20k feathers again and am thinking about upgrading Tharja. Used my last set of feathers on Nino who is at 1.2k SP and waiting on reinforcements for inherit. The big bombshell was scoring a 5* on a pull last week and then it was a SECOND LUCINA. bleh. So now I have a -hp/+def Lucina and now a -hp/+spd Lucina. Reeeally need to get some units with Swordbreaker 3 for her, and Lancebreaker 3 for Ephraim. I put Renewal 3 on my first Lucina. Still don't have an archer either.

What do you think of spending feathers on promoting a -spd/+res Robin? Terrible idea, right?

mario kart double dash is prettymuch the only one I really liked.  battle mode for 64 was fun though.  Great memories of that and party mode in pokemon stadiums.  Wish they'd do another stadium game on the switch or 3ds with online mode.

Hmm, that's a tough one. I would honestly wait until after the Easter banner. There's a chance you might get that blue tome Lucina, so then there'd be no rush to promote Robin.

 
man NeoGAF is full of rubes.  People that think of themselves as experts because they have jobs, or they have children. These people don't read the threads at all before posting in them. Threads are in a perpetual state of drive-by, ignorant pot-shot posts and the threads fly quickly.  IDK how people are in love with this site.  Its best feature is to measure the daily weather forecast for what regular folks are spontaneously thinking. 

It's made of "mature" adults that like to turn their noses up at non-members like an American Legion supper club or something.

This so hard. I want another Pokemon Stadium or Coliseum or even release them on Switch in the e shop and I would be happy.

I loved both of those games so dang much.

And another Pokemon Conquest while they are at it.

 
Well, I figure I should go ahead and link the two aggregate review threads for Persona 5 from NeoGAF & Reddit. As you've probably already guessed, it's scoring high with nearly all of them at 9 or higher. There are a couple below with the lowest being 3.5/5 from Digital Trends, but they still seemed to like it. Metacritic is currently sitting at 94 with 34 reviews.

I wonder what kind of reviews it would take to get everyone in this thread to actually cancel their pre-orders.

Even if it had 1/10 reviews everywhere I'm sure most of us would buy it. It's an exciting sequel in a land of not wanted (by me at least) sequels. It also helps that it is stand alone.

I'm just trying to enjoy my sadistic alternate reality fantasy. Mostly because I recently beat the campaign of Mass Effect: Andromeda and would rate it 5/10, yet I have no idea how people are saying it's great outside of the facial expressions. Granted a point, maybe two of that is because of the egregious amount of technical issues I ran into.
 
GalGun Double Peace has gone down to $20 on Steam. Lowest it's been yet.

Also helped myself to the Atelier Firis DLC on steam since I had some extra steambux. Looking forward to the next dlc set.

Nothing Japanese for April, whereas this month we did get a couple. Good to see both Vita games are cross-buy with the PS4 though. Wish Spacetime had online co-op. I'm sure this was posted in the PSN thread, but I rarely view that.
