Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

Our CAG Japanese Niche Games Thread also has a community on PS4, where you can interact and game with other members of the thread.

Our moderators are: Draekon, Las_Hole, and Waffleswanton

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

I'm just going to leave mine the way it came no worries about getting rid of the sticker since I doubt there is anything to interesting underneath it and I don't plan on reselling it so having my name/info on it's no biggie. The only thing I wish they did was put Summon Night 5 on the side and/or back so it would be more easily identifiable on the shelf. Then again it is just a shipping box albeit probably one of the nicest ones I've ever seen so they probably didn't plan on people wanting to keep it.

 
IS there anything underneath the sticker or is it just blank? Really don't think I'm going to bother taking it off but I'm interested to see if it's covering anything or not.

There's no logo or character art, if that's what you're asking. I wouldn't call it "blank", though, that whole front panel is an image of a house at night.

Just the building. Mine didn't come off so well, but it's better than just seeing my shipping info. I'll more than likely set it up on my shelf among my other collectibles. Still haven't opened the OST or the game cartridge itself.

These guys are great. I'm a huge fan. More physical releases are always greatly appreciated. I kinda wish they'd up the quantity of their releases. I get that a smaller release makes them more collectible... but they sell out a little too fast. I'm glad they limit their purchases to 1 or 2 per customer, though.

Their next release is the Oddworld game I believe, and they now have strict limits of one copy per system, PERIOD! And the qty's are 5000 for the PS4, and 2500 for the Vita I believe. They are also planning a morning release and an afternoon one as well just like before, and with this new system in place, these might last a week, or at least a few days hopefully.

I'm not sure everyone's will ship the same. I haven't gone looking for pictures, but I doubt that pretty box will fit the 8 copies I insanely ordered... If I don't get a pretty box I'll just tape 6 of the copies together into my own ultra-LE box :whee:

 
Will pick up Soldner X2 and Rainbow Moon on Vita.  Possible lost sea as well ;) These games under $4 or Free on PSN hope LRG not go above $25 Each. 

 
Went to GS to pre-order Song of the Deep (PS4) but No Go.  Only Digital Copy.  Employees can't find SKU number physical copy. I wonder GS online list is physical copy or only digital version.

I really hope Play-Asia gets an Asia English region version of this model at some point, as it is the only possible way the US may get a usable version. EU may see this style XL at some point, as their SNES matched the Japanese model. Sadly, the US was the only region to get that God awful purple mess.

I've hated many different things that NoA have done over the years, but changing the Super Famicom design for the states sits atop of my list of all time blunders from them(and that's one helluva list to say the least). LOL

So you couldn't even preorder the digital version? I have Song of the Deep preordered from a store (don't have the SKU on hand, sorry), but I can't tell if it's for a physical version or not.

Does the amazon prime discount still apply if you pre order something, and then your Amazon Prime expires? I got a free month and I want to preorder some games that come out later this year, but i'm already a GCU member and don't want to also spend money on prime becuase amazon charges sales tax in my state.

It worked this way for me. I had prime, placed an order for Gravity Rush Remastered, my prime expired, I still got the discount when it shipped.

My prime is still set for Zero Escape 3 Vita and I haven't had it for months...so I think you'll be OK with orders already made.

 
Goodie, Best Buy forgot to pull my Ratchet and Clank order and apparently all the stores in like 20 miles sold out.

Gotta wait till the weekend and hope they get it so I can still get my preorder DLC

That would be nice, but so far I only see Japan, and EU.

 
I will likely just wait for a normal copy to come out and likely it will plummet in price eventually. It really doesn't look too good honestly, though I haven't been much for rail shooters. i actually would likely use that panty screen cleaning thing as a joke.....I use a Kuroneko wipe usually though...so I wouldn't be too embarassed.
