Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

Our CAG Japanese Niche Games Thread also has a community on PS4, where you can interact and game with other members of the thread.

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

Does Iffy's Store ever restock LE sets like NISA does? I know NISA holds back stock, and they normally offer sold out items a few more times after the first sale out, so I was wondering if Iffy does the same.

How was Miku? Still sad I couldn't make it.

 
The Dallas expo was amazing and well worth the 8 hour drive and cost for entry. First time attending a Miku concert and the youtube videos do not even begin to do the show justice. Wife and I are glad we accidentally hit merch presale as the line during the show was ridiculous. We're pretty sure Bomb Factory was not expecting so many people to attend as getting in was a bit disorganized and the line wrapped around the city block and spiraled in the parking lot where the Miku trailer was at. In short, look forward to the next time they come through.

Yay on Youkai Watch 2. Supposedly greatly improves the original and also sold a lot in Japan. Also yay for Super Robot Wars Asia release date. I can make my Play-asia order soon. I just need my Moe Crystal release date!

Sounds like when I saw IA... and last week for Babymetal. Missed out on Miku sadly. Just can't do the traveling as much now.

Didn't get to go, I was going to give my ticket away, but then I got caught up having to do some shit. I'm sorry man, you could've had mine. As long as it's a fan, I didn't care. Well I know, I'm still bummed about it, too. It sucks. Glad everybody else had a great time, though. Maybe in another 8 years or whatever... I've read a few headlines saying it was really awesome!

Edit: Nah, I bet she'll be back somewhere before that. I'll be 100% ready wherever by then.

Oh man, I'm really sorry. I was even in Dallas that night to see some friends, too. Next time, for sure. Or I'll just fly to Japan and see her there.

I don't know, but I'd definitely recommend waiting until it's as close to $20 as possible if you actually plan to play it. No more than $30 for sure. It feels like a proof of concept on action games for GUST. It has very little of the charm that you see in Atelier and it's pretty basic. Challenge is pretty non-existent until post-game content too.

That's a little disheartening to read since I bought the LE version from NISAmerica. I thought it looked a lot like Ar NoSurge, and snagged it since I really enjoyed that one. Ah well, it's not like haven't played through hum-drum games before.

I whole heartedly agree with this statement. Very disappointed with my CE purchase.

Moving on to better things, is anyone going to ACEN this weekend?
 
Finally booted up Grand Kingdom beta. Too bad it took me so long. It seems the online features have been disabled. However, what I've played I don't hate it and but it is low on my priority list with Odin Sphere about a month away.

Probably just more/different motion controls... and more ar.... and more accessories/toys/cards to buy in order to unlock game content. Or the whole system is another attempt at VR, but wearable this time. Either way, it's sounding less and less like something I'm actually interested in.

The collector in me wants to order this, but the husband, and dad in me is telling me to wait for the eventual PSN sale, or for a PS Vita plus version to be released. Either way, I appreciate the links.

Eh, there's nothing really wrong getting it later. I did add three theme links since you replied though. A-1, A-2 & C. There are two more coming at release named B-1 and B-2. Apparently they will be doing temporarily free DLC at launch according to the PS4 listing on PSN:

Did that trailer actually show your character FLYING through the central hub?! That was my biggest complaint in the first Xenoverse, walking around the hub to do missions was always a pain in the ass because your character was really slow.
