Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

A message from Thorbahn:

Our CAG Japanese Niche Games Thread also has a community on PS4, where you can interact and game with other members of the thread.

Our moderators are: Draekon, Las_Hole, and Waffleswanton

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

As always, have fun and enjoy your stay!

Shit. My faith in SP will be restored if it becomes a reality.

I got the hanzo academy cards, but my game came in a bubble mailer and has a nice size crease on one side of the box. The front still looks okay though so I'll probably just keep it.
Exactly the same thing with me. Crimson was my first pick, but Hanzo was my second, so not too bad. Only complaint is that I would have liked the same reversible cover that EU got, but besides that, this is a good LE.

I got Hanzo from Amazon. A bit disappointed I didn't get Gessen, but hopefully my friend does so we can do some trading. Feels like my early days of collecting cards...

Five 'exclusive' launch lineup mini-games for the PSVR that are a bundled set. They're by Sony London, but eh, screw it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69XFqRfzl_k

The dive cave and luge look like interesting games to showcase VR, but won't hold a lot of replay value. Heist looks alright but from the trailer they're definitely going to be throwing stuff in your face a lot, which could be a bit disconcerting. Space one seems alright but not much shown and the Dangerball will be very hit or miss and I don't think it'll hold appeal well.

Definitely nowhere near enough to make me consider one still. The main issue is how much are games going to be pushed for the VR platforms as once support stops, the platform starts to die off. I get the feeling it will only be a novelty item still.

2 more weeks until the FFXV release date announcement...

I know there's that 9/30 rumor, but I'm more excited to see if a Collector's Edition will be announced (steelbook + soundtrack + available on Amazon, please-and-thank-you!).

So my Vita version of Senran came with the Hebijo set of cards, and the PS4 version came with the Hanzo set.

I kinda wanted Gessen (for Yumi), but Hanzo is pretty good too.

My Steins;Gate LE from RiceDigital showed up yesterday as well, which was a nice surprise since I don't even remember getting a shipping email about that. Shipping from them is pretty quick, I am impressed.

Received my vita version of the Steins;Gate Limited Edition from RiceDigital today. Can't believe how fast it shipped, considering I ordered something in the US around the same time and still haven't received it. It arrived in a bubble mailer and suffered no damage. Can't wait to try it on the PSTV.

Yeah, Rice's packaging is terrible, but amazingly nothing has ever arrived damaged(no thanks to them). But lost, now that's a different story. LOL

LOVED Steins; Gate. Would love to get the LE, but alas, have to save money for games I haven't played yet. I did get the anime series on Blu-ray and DVD combo pack when it was on sale at amazon for like $25ish. Wasn't as good as the game, at all.

Just do what I did and justify getting the LE by making sure it's a different region copy (I had EU standard, so I bought US El Psy Kongroo). So that way you can get the platinum trophy again.. It's almost like a new game instead of the same one twice, right? :p

Even with the standard release, nisa's never gonna let yuruyuri hit a good price. The bastards.
They did a decent job releasing it, but hardsubs are a pass for me. The box set I got in Japan was kinda pricey, but at least directly supports the studio/creators.
