Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

That plushie is great, lol.

Looks like a pretty decent CE. I hate when they don't come with soundtracks, though. I feel like a soundtrack and artbook should be in every CE.

It's an updated version of V-II with a different engine. There's a couple more 3D animated cutscenes, the cross promotion characters are gone, and there are some segments where the goddesses visit the player's room. Those scenes can be experienced in VR.

 
turn on my vita just a moment ago and the thing needed to update.  What hack or whatever is sony blocking now?   Since that's the only thing they ever update for.

Disgaea HD Remake is nice, as is more Etrian Odyssey. I would like the live action horror game as well, but NISA doesn't really like to give us the horror game sans those few that are in 2D that we got.

Also nice about Mega Man X collections.....I will get them when they are on deep discount, but those just run better than the old collection.

 
Overwatch Archives Event is live on all platforms. Download size is 14GB PC, 18GB Xbox and 21GB PS4.

Here's a link to the skins for the event. Relatively big patch as well, so here's the notes. As per usual, here's an item checklist you can use but don't expect it to be up-to-date for 24 hours.

It's confirmed to be on 2 discs for the PS4 while the Switch version will be 1 game in the cartridge and 1 as a download. I'll probably get it digital on PS4, when it comes to these retro games it just seems more convenient having them digital so I don't have to be constantly getting the discs just to play some old school games whenever I desire (I guess Wii's Virtual Console spoiled me with this decision too). Plus I already own these anyway so going digital this time around isn't so bad.

I believe most of their comments referenced Europe, but I'm not completely sure. My understanding before they mixed it up with these comments was that the only physical PS4 version is from the LE.

 
Imma just import the PS4 version of SNK Heroines if any of the other regions happen to get a standard release. The LE is too much for me.

Unlike the original 10 Mega Man games where 7-10 were pretty decent, after X3 the quality of the X series dropped. They really should of had one collection not two. Even if it's all on one disc, it still should of been one game for digital because I don't expect a ton of sales for X2 collection.

Err... I remember X4 and X5 being really good, but I haven't played them since I was very young.

I agree that X4 was still good after the first 3, X5 is when I felt the series was starting to decline. Let us hope X7 never again sees the light of day. I never even looked at X8 because X7 was so terrible.

I never played X8, either, but I've heard it redeemed the series after X7.

 
Wow, I moved Overwatch to an external hard drive, but I could probably delete it. That Mei skin is awesome, and the PvE event looks cool, but neither make me feel like playing the game again. And Mei was one of my favorite characters to play as.

I wouldn't even have to grind loot boxes. I stopped playing with 30,000 gold saved up.

More Senran Kagura is always nice....I kind of liked the beat em up style of the 3DS ones. The story was pretty decent though, so I'll likely get it the remakes.

 
Reflexions is just the Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash dressing room with the girls role playing an anime trope. The player selects a personality by massaging the girl's finger or palm. The massage will start an event and begins a dressing room sequence. After doing enough poking/smacking/groping/spraying with water, players are given a "Finish" option and can select a motion controlled minigame (or skip.)  After seeing all events with a personality they are unlocked for the regular dressing room.

So for your 10 dollars per girl that's what you get.

 
An interesting Action RPG is coming to PS4, XB1 & PC at the end of next Month it looks like. The game is called Moonlighter (Steam Page Link) and has a bit of Recettear in it. Looks like it could be pretty interesting.

Also Lobotomy Corporation released out of early access on Steam this week as well. I believe the devs are Korean and the same is a simulation game that has a bit of an interesting take on the genre.

I hated the fucking Shantytown part at the entrance, the entire descent to the swamp through all of those silos or whatever they were, and that fucking windmill section on the far end near where you fight those 2 giants to go into Queelag's fight.

I can't wait to experience the bullshit with actual decent framerates now.

 
If anyone's wondering about the BBTAG LE, it'll retail for $100, and is exclusive to the Arc System Works and Rooster Teeth Store. From what I heard from the ArcLive stream, pre-orders will probably go starting 5/4/18. Be aware that the LE does not include the 20 character pass.
