Japanese Psn is Back up

nah from what ive read its still down until sony can prove to japan that their shit is safe and secure up to their standards ( which makes me wonder if its really that safe now if japan still doesnt trust it).

as far as to what games ill get i dunno i need to do some google searches on the psp games to see which ones i like and maybe hustle kings and loco roco for ps3.
Wait, so the error I was getting on my Japanese account was because the store is still down? I thought I read it was up and just figured they finally killed access from the US. In fact the error message I got was 'not available in your region'.
Not available in your region meaning Japan. I'm sure people in Japan get the exact same message.

That's pretty much where the other thread landed. The translation was both correct and easy to mis-interpret.

does anyone know if there is an english speaking country that we can choose when region hopping in the japan region?

anyone know of an english speaking country we can pick in the japan region trying to make sence of chicken scratch is driving me crazy

I saw your post in the other thread as well and I still don't know exactly what you are asking, care to rephrase the question?

Otherwise my grasp of your question is Hong Kong is the only PSN store I'm aware of that is natively english language. And it usually contains about 90-95% of all of the content the JPN store carries.

Jesus tapdancing christ.

The Japan store is going to be down for a quarter of a year. what the fuck?

prepost EDIT - People in Japan with Japanese PS3s are still saying that the store is down for them. If it is region locked, we don't know yet because it is currently "everywhere" locked.

theyll have to change the name of the welcome back program to the " are you still there" program should they ever get it up to japans standards lol. damn shame to their free home area looked cool.

Arent there several CAGs in Japan (like maybe the guy who runs this site?) that can confirm whether the story is up or down and not just region locked?
Why would they region lock one store and not the rest?
Because people are knee-jerking and assuming things.

If people in JPN can't get on yet, then there is no big conspiracy that they're locking out Gaijin around the world for any reason. People just need to chill and have some more patience.

The japanese store is now up, and is not region locked! I live in Houston, Texas and I am able to access the store. I have already downloaded hustle kings and eochrome. Now I am trying to decide if I should buy a psn card and get einhander now or patiently wait and see if sqeenix ever releases it here.

I'm debating which free games to pick. Between my US, Euro, and HK accounts, I don't have much more to pick from.

32 PSOne games got thrown up today. It would seem that Japan is not fucking around with multiple updates per week for a couple weeks.

I grabbed Hustle Kings for PS3 so far and Midnight Carnival for PSP. Has anyone tried loading the PSP games on their PSP. It gives me a warning about activations and Im not sure exactly what its talking about.

Also, any suggestions about the second games for each? Hustle Kings turned out ot be in English. Are any of the other games the same way?

Wow, I just now looked over what games are free and I can't say that I'd want any of them. Japan got robbed IMO.

I picked up LocoRoco Cocoreccho and The Last Guy. Didn't finish downloading TLG, but Cocoreccho isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Still pretty fun, but probably not going to be very long. It's in Japanese too, but not like there's much text to worry about.

Is there an easy way to find the free PS+ games? I can't figure out their Store. They have a lot of subfolders and I can't really read what any of it is :p Hoping some of the PSN games will have English options.

PSN store is back up, And confirmed no region lock (I'm downloading!), but I'm only seeing that I'm allowed to download 1 each of the list of PS3 and PSP games. Is anyone else getting that?

edit: nevermind, figured it out. :p

I can't get logged in. Everytime I try to log in I get blocked with some odd screen. Tried going on Sony's website to reset my pwd. No luck, just got an under maintenance screen.

There's a PS+ section on the main menu and the name is in English, so it should be easy to find.
Has it been stated which games support Eng. for the playing language?
Hustle Kings is almost entirely in English. I like it so far. I mean, its a pool game, but for a pool game its really well done.

Anyone know what the other items in the welcome back folder are?
There's two at the front that lead no where... I'm guessing they're just info buttons like how the US store is now doing "25% Off" and "50% Off" buttons that go no where but are meant just as info.
Then there was a free cat program that reminded me of the old RSS reader cat program.
Then a playstation home thing I think, the free month of plus, and something I have no idea what it was.

Also, anyone know of anything playable by someone that knows no Japanese that's 200Y?

I just wnet and downloaded anything that had the price in that little gray box that meant "Free". I got some Simple 50 xxxx sometihng game. Some game with a black and white cat talking. The Tales of F demo and maybe some other stuff. Store is extremely complicated to navigate for non-english speakers.

Found one section which was arranged by publishers which seemed nice though.

Never was region locked to begin with...just not back until Tuesday for everyone.

Better get mighty patient then I waited 3 years and nothing so I bought it and was done with waiting for it, might as well just pick it up and be done with it, it's fully playable (VA is ENG) and the menus are pretty much all ENG too, no reason not to get it other than the hassle of getting a JPN PSN card.

After you use it for awhile you can manage to find things and where they are with a little luck and some patience.

Your welcome, glad I could help. ;)

I got a psn email in Japanese I'm guessing its cause of store going up in Japan. But I deleted my jap account like a year ago. So all I got to work with is the e-mail I used to create my jap account. anyway I can retrive my password to log on it ?
I'd recommend grabbing the Clouds dynamic theme in the Welcome Back section. It's the best dynamic theme that I've used in a while.
I was just about to come here and ask about stuff like this. Anyone else find some good avatars or free stuff?

Quick question for all you CAGers with foreign PSN accounts like myself... How the hell do you know what you're picking? Or better yet what there is to get?

I went through it today and grabbed everything I saw that was 'free'... I don't know if it was good or not. Could someone please guide me in the right direction? Thanks in advance...

The Japanese store unfortunately doesn't organize themes and avatars like the US does. Luckily, if you're familiar with Katakana (characters used to imitate English words) then it's fairly easy to get around. I did find a few anime wallpapers and themes but no free avatars. There were a few free DLC items for some Japanese games, but just waste space on your HDD really. What REALLY pissed me off was I found the Demon's Souls dynamic theme under PSN+ and for a brief second I jumped for joy until seeing the ¥200 under it. God, if only that had been free. . .

Honestly, unless you have to have some half-naked anime character calendars from 2009-2010 that are free, there's really nothing worth wasting your time looking for. Just that clouds theme for PSN+ and that's it.

Like I said on the last page just look around, if it has a white box with JPN writing in the corner where the price is it usually means free.

Even though I've been going there for 4 years I still have to look around since the JPN PSN store is one of the most complicated PSN stores in the world, it's almost too much micromanaging of the games. For instance PS1 games are divided by Games by publisher, games by first letter, and type (action, rpg, ect) it is all very confusing sometimes. PSN+ is at the bottom of the main menu, PS1 is a few above it.

Just explore and get a feel for it, I can't really say any more than that.

Any idea how I can get back in my Japanese PSN account...? Still can't log in. Still getting the dumb error with the kanji on it.

Everytime I try to change it on the Sony webpage I get this :
Site Maintenance Notice

The server is currently down for maintenance.

We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again later.

Is the "Welcome Back" section still up on the JPN PSN store? If so how to get to it? I just logged in and all I see is the PS+ section.

Thanks
