Congratulations, Matt Hardy, you've crashed the internet
ProWrestling.com is loading for me, but not the news links. 1Wrestling is still up. Looks like they have some "reader feedback." Let me have a read...
I'll admit to start that "smarts" aren't a large portion of WWE's audience.

But this is something WWE should strive for. Realism, emotion, and unpredictability. That, in addition to good storylines, is what makes wrestling fun. It doesn't always have to be good wrestling (the New Age Outlaws anyone?), but if the context is good, the wrestling will follow.

I, for one, hope that this storyline is the start of more just like it. Work the smarts, because they're the biggest marks of all (and will *never* admit to it, either). Or don't write for smarks, as long as you write for people with brains, I'm cool.

I'll put down $10 that Hardy will work ROH, just to add to it.

I need to bother ZL by pointing out that Skinner chased Hardy out of the door in the first segment he was in. Hardy fears Skinner!
Believe me I wish they would work the smarts more often, seeing as I see myself being somewhat in that contingent (although I guess I would call myself a smark). Unfortunately I don't know if that's a successful strategy. It seems that WWE realizes that the smarts are making up a bigger percentage of their audience. Just look at the last week of programming, we've got Matt Hardy, we've got JBL/Meanie, and we have WWE being way more public about their releases and meetings with Brock Lesnar. Maybe with Gewirtz(sp?) gone, the writers are going to try and cater more to the smarts and smarks and see what that does for ratings. Hopefully it improves them, as I'd rather see this kind of Raw than the Raw we've been getting since the botched invasion angle.
I was talking about this to my friend. Just how far back do you think this thing goes? Personally, I think it goes back to sometime before the ECW PPV, due to Heyman's comments about Hardy.
No doubt about it. As soon as Heyman mentioned Hardy I started to wonder if he'd be back. Then the Matt Hardy tease during Edge and Lita's wedding all but sealed the deal in my mind that Vince was going to bring Matt back. However, Hardy did a great job by posting on his website that he was sick of WWE and all their nonsense and that he was ROH bound. The release of Shannon Moore was a nice touch too. Hopefully Moore just ends up in ROH for awhile.
Watch Brock show up on Smackdown tomorrow...
Could be a possibility. They want to do Brock/Batista, and if JBL continues a storyline with Meanie, that frees up Batista...

Hey, 800 posts for me; cool.

You may suggest away, but the next topic actually was awarded to Myke, due to a severe blunder on my behalf. I do have something interesting to post on Savage though, but I shall wait until I get the next topic up, which I'll set to doing right now.

Ok, I just did a bit of ruminating...perhaps ZL mentioned this, but it's the clincher for the "it's a work" people:

The booking of the match: Snitsky came down to interfere during a completely anticlimactic moment in the match, and all he did was isolate Edge, in the ring, by attacking Kane outside of the ring. The ref called for a DQ, and the match, a rematch of a, ahem, err..."hot" angle, would have ended in a very disappointing and boring way after 2 fucking minutes if not for the Hardy-ference.

It also made me think...well, WWE isn't going to resurrect ECW (and I appreciate that). But they did learn a great deal from the show, and if that leads to more storylines and wrestling that resembles ECW, I don't care if they call the show "Hee Haw 2005," I'll be watching it with excitement.

The diva segment wasn't long enough; I only read 20 pages of the Dark Tower.

sounds good.

... and in all honesty I really want to put an OTT twist on the next topic... call it the "OMFG MATT HARDY IS BACKZOR TOPIC!!!!" but I shall refrain.

I missed Matt Hardy because I started flipping channels during the diva and eventually started FF vs. 3rd Reich (which lead to me turning off the TV completely)

Good call. I was half expecting a Big Show run in to fend off Snitsky. I'm just so used to disappointment when watching Raw. This reminds me though, why exactly did they send Big Show to Raw?

He didn't fight on the Heat tapings, or so I read.

Neither did Kerwin. :(

I was going to post in the request a deal section but I think I'll put this here. If by any chance someone taped or could tape Raw for me tonight, it would be doing me a huge favor. I'll be willing to pay for the tape, shipping, and a bit for your troubles too. It starts in a couple minutes here on the West Coast but if someone can start taping asap I mostly want the Matt Hardy parts on tape. My VCR's recording function doesn't work and I want this on tape. Matt FREAKING Hardy!!!

Sorry if this has been posted. If it has, I must have missed it in the havoc of this thread.

WHAT MATT HARDY SAID ON RAW AND HIS STATUS WITH RING OF HONOR
by Buck Woodward @ 11:37:00 PM on 7/11/2005

For those that are curious what Matt Hardy said on the mic following his brawl with Edge tonight, here is what Hardy said:

"Adam, you bastard, I am going to make your life miserable. And Lita, you whore, I'm going to make your life miserable too. And the WWE can kiss my ass!"

(Hardy is tackled by security and a referee)

"I'll see you at Ring Of Honor. ROH!"

Hardy was then tackled by security, officials and "cops".

As he was escorted up the ramp, Hardy continued yelling at WWE official John Laurinatis and apparently said "I wish you were alone, Johnny Ace", although it was hard to make out exactly what was said. Hardy did say, clearly, " WWE can kiss my ass" as he was escorted through the curtain.

To answer another question that we are receiving emails on, a Ring Of Honor representative has confirmed that Hardy will still be appearing on their event this Saturday in Woodbridge, Connecticut, where he will wrestle Christopher Daniels.

Oh, and for those that don't realize, yes, the two appearances by Hardy were a planned part of tonight's Raw.

no see the other topic is open now... lock it up... before Hacksaw comes and starts hitting people with his 2x4, while he waves his American flag
