July 2007 BC Update - Marvel vs Capcom 2, PGR, PGR2 , Morrowind +

Damn it. I traded in Burnout, Evil Dead and NHL 2K5 thinking that there's no way they'd bother with an Evil Dead game, an old hockey game (and my favorite 2K sports game) or Burnout.
So your the one bought and kept the piece of turd? That was one of THE worst unplayble wrestling games...no actually it's one of the worst video games in general I have ever seen. Nice to see THQ even knew that and dumped Studio Gigante faster then I do after eating Mexican food.

Sweet - Morrowind GotY. I just got this a few months ago on clearance ($7 new) and almost didn't because I thought they'd never make it BC. I haven't read through the whole thread, but does the inclusion of MechAssault 2 mean they fixed the glitches that Daroga told us about? It was on the last list, but isn't lised as an update on this one like some of the others... I just picked that up for $5 at Fry's a few weeks ago, so that's nice if so.

OK, complete newb-ass question - I just fired up my 360 to download some of the new demos. I know I have updated it before - is it something you do from the system menu or something, or are these BC updates just for individual games (and thus only when you actually run them with no system update required)? I completely forgot how I did it before (last time it was a dashboard update + more BC titles at the same time). I have it turned off in low-power download mode which will probably persist for a few hours (getting 3 demos and some large videos) so I can't check on anything right now.

There's no big update, you put a BC game in, will get prompted to download an update and then it will work. Repeat for any other BC games.

Isn't it just a one time update?

I put in DDR Ultramix 4 (a non BC game) and got prompted for the update. Afterwards, I put in Guilty Gear, and it worked just fine.

I think the one BC update gives access to all the BC games on the list; I don't think you have to repeat it.

I never had an Xbox, can anyone tell me what is great about PGR2 that would make it worth playing for someone who has PGR3 and Forza already?

Yeah, now that you mention it, I think this is what happened to me before. At first I was confused because the last dashboard update happened at the same time as the last BC update - so I thought, at first, that it had to be in a system update. But now I remember popping my first Xbox game in and getting prompted. Then, the other day I put in SW Battlefront II and it started right up. So, presumably, when I put in one of the new titles it will update again...

Of course my memory is not what it used to be and maybe I did get prompted on SWB II . It seems like if they need to tweak stuff for every game that you'd need a patch for each one (and it wouldn't make sense to download them for ALL the games as it would probably take up a fair amount of space).

Ok I tried out the new backwards games today...

Elder Scrolls III: GOTY Edition - Runs about the same as XBox, with the exception it seems a *bit* slower, especially in towns and the starting ship.

Sega GT 2002/JSRF Combo - Both run flawlessly. Especially JSRF.

Outrun 2006 Coast to Coast/Outrun 2: Outrun 2 runs a bit slower, especially when you run into the area before the next area checkpoints aka the highway. In 2006 it's alot less noticeable, and runs identical to the XBox version.

Guilty Gear X2 #Reload - Works flawlessly.
Auto Modelista - Works flawlessly.
PGR 1 and PGR 2 - Both run flawlessly.
Sega GT Online - Flawless.
KUF: The Crusaders -Flawless (outside of no Live play)
Silent Hill 2 (Ran flawless, including the FMVS)

*** WARNING THIS IS GOING TO SUCK FOR MVC2 SEEKERS and Justice League Heroes owners/future owners*
Marvel versus Capcom 2 :( Sorry guys but the game looks like shit. The characters are all blocky, they have lines through them which is real weird. The game plays fine but It detracts so much from the experience that this game is currently unplayable. I wouldn't be suprised if this one is pulled. eBay value will probably go up till people realize the issues.

Outside of MVC2 everything ran perfect (gonna test Justice League more, will update the post later).

Justice League Heroes - I played it for a bit and it runs fine in some areas. Others it tends to slow down a lot. This isn't a issue on the XBox, but on the 360 it runs slower. I just plugged in my XBox and went to play it on there for this title.
PGR 1 and PGR 2 - Both run flawlessly.
I found PGR1 to be a little slow at times, and the road sometimes flickers these weird white dots.

I can't get the radio to work in PGR2, but I can get the user-customized CD feature to work. The game runs smooth as butter, though.

I'll have to see if this means JSRF doesn't slowdown to a crawl anymore.

Wow, maybe it's time to finally give Auto Modellista a spin. I found the Xbox version used for super cheap at some point, it's just been sitting around.

bout fucking time for SH2 and what's that sound? Only the roaring sound of MvsC2's value soaring to new heights.

LMAO at how long it took for YGO! to get BC, seeing how the entire game is nothing but static 2-D images, with a few 3-D models that don't even move! They could have programed the entire game from scratch in less than a day.

Apparently there was a mistake. They accidently made Rogue Ops BC when they meant to do Psi-Ops.

Idiots.

I do call success on Bloodrayne 2 and Marvel Nemesis though.
Can someone confirm if Morrowind GotY edition works?
Yes it works, what the hell did I just post before you?

And I had no problems with JSRF, I was using the combo disc. Maybe It's just that *shrugs*

While were talking about old games is Aeon Flux basically what would have been Bloodrayne 3 ?
It's the same developer . It probably plays very similar I'd imagine .
Thanks .

I started noticing strange lines in GGX2#R, too. They're the stuff of nitpicking, but if anybody's a nitpicker, nitpick away. The game still looks fantastic on the 360 and plays equally well.

You're pretty close, though given a different balance on brawling rather than slicing, a bit of gunplay, and more PoP style platforming, I'd like to think it is the result of a menege-a-trois between the Prince, Rayne, and John Anderton of Minority Report, the game.

just wait until you get to 99th street. slowdown like crazy.

yikes, finally got a chance to try out MvC2...I wonder how it made it on this list. it runs slower in general and has further slowdown from that...and the graphics are poorly emulated.

Glad it's on there though, I would've thought that licensing would prevent it. Now bring on CvS2!! (and fix mvc!)
I would've thought that licensing would prevent it.
Why does this always come up? It's not like there aren't dozens of other licensed games that the publishers no longer hold the rights to that are emulated anyway. It's just emulation.

it depends on the nature of the contract (no two are alike.) Seeing as how the contract with Marvel seemed a bit tight (no online play), it seemed like they could've run in to trouble putting the game on a whole new system.
At least that game had awesome rant videos.
o lord.... no....

anyways it is total bs that espn hoops made it and not espn nfl..... cmon microsoft... guess we gotta wait till xmas for another update as these take forever

wwf raw seems to work flawlessly

made everyone tap out to the crippler crossface!

man its really annoying to have to switch to 480 p to play these games properly.. i wish microsoft would fix that up,, maybe upconvert these games..

it would also be cool if they could somehow make all these games "xbox live aware" compatible...i mean the 360 already knows what game your playing

Wait, sorry, a three-way with two dudes is a gang-bang, not a menege-a-trois. Sorry about that.

Since nobody but me and one other person on CAG apparently owns PGR2, I did some more dicking around with my disc. I cleaned it, and it still garbled, mostly on the right channel. Also, it only happened when there were multiple cars on the screen. The sound is great when I'm doing cone challenges or that speed camera mission. I think it's an emulation issue.

Now, if somebody else wants to chime in with their copy of PGR2, by all means, chime away.
Is anybody else getting garbled sound in PGR2? It's like static, and it only happens during gameplay.
My sound is fine . I did experience one lock-up during the D.C. replay when it was left in "attract mode" .
