Hm. All they had to do was cut the price by 80%!
Thanks, roland! This thread has been very interesting. I was curious in how the following anime-based games have done. I decided to leave off DBZ, Gundam, Naruto, and Yugioh games to keep the list from being too insanely long.
Now seeing the Silent Hill series over time is interesting. That should put into perspective what kind of risks they are taking with 5 being on the HD platforms.

No, and I dont see the evidence as supporting that view either, with the occasional exception like Call of Duty 4 & RE4. Next-gen doesnt look like it can stop a series that is degrading in most cases. Now if it feels new and IS new, that seems to be the key difference in whether or not it has a chance. Strangely enough, the 4's seem to be the only ones doing it. DMC4 reportedly outsold DMC3's first week in Japan. And of course people have high hopes for MGS4. One would hope Soul Calibur 4 across 2 platforms would outsell SC3 at 708k, but I'm not counting on it.

While we dont have much past past-gen data, I'm fairly sure that the likes of Grandia, Tekken, and Tales series saw better days there.

Grandia and VF2 sold 1 and 1.7M on the Saturn worldwide, respectively, even before being ported off to the PS1 for the megabucks. In the latter case we have degradation across THREE console generations.

Final Fantasy has been more or less on the decline since 7.
