Kane & Lynch didn't sell 1,000,000 & Zack & Wiki didn't bomb, and other sales facts..
Did they? The numbers from earlier seem to indicate they'd be quite a bit lower, unless Japan suddenly became full of rabid FPS fans.
Well, according to vgchartz.com (i know, i know...), sales (worldwide) are:

Motorstorm- 2,772,490
Resistance: Fall of Man- 2,376,114

Which yes, would be over 5 million.
So, to sum up. NPD numbers as soon as I can. I miss updating this thread. And frankly, I miss the numbers.
Thanks for the update, roland. Looking forward to numbers whenever you can get them. Lots of inquiries!

Good work and good luck on the WiiWare title.

Arghh...trust me, it's just as frustrating for me to not have these numbers. I'm working on a second contact who should be able to get them for me. Keep the faith, and your fingers crossed.

Are you still taking requests? I'm interested in Boktai 1 & 2 vs. "lets change all the names so Americans will buy it" Lunar Knights.

I thought that someone had just bumped this thread like before but it's good to see that it was the OP. Hopefully, you're able to get those numbers.

Thanks in advance, roland13x.

Someone call a bump? Wait whats going on?

Oh I'm back! I am going to be doing this on a bit more of a limited basis...I have a feeling my old NPD connection might have caught on with this thread and gotten pissed. Just a guess though.

So the numbers I have are through and including January 2009. Man, that sounds like The Future.

Dead Space - 337k (360) 212k (PS3)
Deadly Creatures - too soon
Overkill - too soon

Just for fun, here's the top selling games per platform of all time:
360 - Halo 3 4.66M (doesn't include other versions)
PS3 - GTAIV 1.8M
Wii - WiiPlay 9.82M
PSP - GTA Libery City 2.16M
DS - New SMB 5.24M
PS2 - GTA San Andreas 8.06M

Nice. Thanks for doing what you can. I'm curious on the SE RPGs like Infinite Undiscovery, or Last Remnant. Also Saint's Row 2 CE both platforms, since there's a nice sale on it @ amazon today.

Nice. I just finished SR2. Loved it. Not to start a huge debate, but the fun factor of SR2 is just so much higher than GTAIV to me. It just feels like when the designers ran into a decision on SR2, they asked themselves "which is more fun?" and clearly went that way. While GTAIV has somehow turned into the realism it used to satire.

Infinite Undiscovery - 110k
Last Remnant - 118k [I'm betting this is nearly the same fan base as with IU]
SR2 CE - 30k (360) 11k (PS3)

Wow, thanks for the fast response!

I think most here will agree with you on SR2 vs GTAIV, so no worries.

Since you seem on top of things today, might I ask about:

Mirror's Edge
Prince of Persia
Animal Crossing Wii
Left 4 Dead

Awesome, you're back roland. I have a few games I'm hopeful to see the sales numbers for if you could:

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
The Darkness
Army of Two
The Bourne Conspiracy
Assassin's Creed
No More Heroes

and I don't know if you get sales numbers for downloads. But if you do:

Bionic Commando: Rearmed
Mega Man 9

Thanks, regardless of if you can give them or not, as what you did a year ago deserves many thanks.

Thanks roland, this has been pretty intriguing. Here's the games I'd be interested in hearing about:
-No More Heroes (Wii) - Always interesting to hear about Suda's games.
-Yakuza 2 (PS2) - Might as well see if there's any chance for the 2 PS3 sequels' localization.
-Patapon (PSP) - Sony repeated the $20 price point strategy with Loco Roco 2; wonder if it worked out for this one?

Hey any word on the sales of Tales of Vesperia vs. Lost Odyssey? Also wondering if you think the numbers of Mortal Kombat vs. DC, especially on the PS3, took a hit as people like me bought a European copy because it was unedited because of the difference in age for our Teen rating vs. the Teen rating in Europe? Thanks a lot op.

Left 4 Dead has been in the top 10 for all three months of it's release, which means the number is publicly available to anyone that can use google and add three numbers.

Certainly don't risk your job or your connection to NPD roland, but we are interested in any data that you can release if you can.

I am interested in the numbers for Chrono Trigger DS if you can manage to snag those...

No problem gunm. I'll probably check this thread at least once a day, so hopefully I can get you guys the info regularly.

Mirror's Edge - 207k (360) 125k (PS3)
Prince of Persia - [includes both versions] 282k (360) 248k (PS3) [interesting that the numbers are so close. I really enjoyed this game...having a tough time deciding if I really thought it was a good game though. It was a strange animal.]
Animal Crossing - 654k (game only) 161k (with WiiSpeak)
L4D - 1.28M [feels like word of mouth really skyrocketed this title]

I don't get numbers for downloads. We actually released a download only, WiiWare title last year, and getting legit sales numbers is just freakin' hard!

MGS4 - 1.09M [not sure if it includes bundles]
The Darkness - 284k (360) 133k (PS3) [such a solid, hidden-gem type of game, especially at its current price point]
Army of Two - 813k (360) 348k (PS3) [hopefully it's not considered sacrilegious, but my girlfriend and I had more fun playing this co-op than we did Gears 2. I know!]
The Bourne Conspiracy - 103k (360) 83k (PS3) [ouch1]
Assassin's Creed - 2.3m (360) [6th best selling title] 1.15M (PS3) [4th best selling title] [includes the CE]
No More Heroes - 208k [solid enough I suppose]

Vesperia - 107k (includes both versions) (the limited only sold 6,700, so it is, in fact, actually limited)
Lost Odyssey - 348k [solid numbers there]
MK vs DC - 592k (360) 512k (PS3) [includes CE version] The last couple versions on PS2 sold 1.4M, 900k and 800k. This series is clearly trending downhill, and probably wouldn't have these current numbers if it weren't for the life the DC license gave it. Just my opinion of course. It certainly could be doing worse, but I can't imagine importers put much of a dent in these US-only numbers.

No jeopardy to my job...NPD connections...well, we'll see. As long as I don't go crazy posting everything, should be fine.

Chrono Trigger - 21k. That's gotta be a disappointment I'd imagine.

24k? Christ almighty, looks like I'll be importing Yakuza 3 and playing the only version I can: the no-fun-your-Japanese-sucks-use-a-FAQ import edition.

Wow, I'm both saddened and surprised. Saddened that Assassin's Creed has sold more for the PS3 than MGS4, not that AC's a bad game, I just love MGS4 that much. I'm also saddened that Mirror's Edge only sold that much. I picked it up a couple weeks after it came out and had a blast. The time attack mode was a great way to extend play time too. I'm surprised as hell at those Army of Two numbers. I was under the impression that it sold badly and that was why it started to drop in price rather quickly. And you're right roland, The Darkness is a hidden gem at a very low price point because that's how I discovered it just this Christmas break. Since you're being so cool about giving the figures, I've got to ask for a few more that popped into my head.

Dynasty Warriors 6
Genji: Days of the Blade (that's the PS3 one, right?)
Heavenly Sword
Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Thanks.
Vesperia - 107k (includes both versions)
The optimist in me is hoping that's solid for a Tales game. The cynic is asking why Bamco even bothers anymore.
I'd be interested in Valkyria Chronicles if you have that.

And Yakuza 2=sad day. Sega does something right and no one notices.
Valkyrie Chronicles - 74k

Not a problem! Late night at work anyway...

Dynasty Warriors 6 - 113k (360) 103k (PS3) 26k (PS2)
Genji: Days of the Blade - 96k
Heavenly Sword - 386k
RaC:ToD - 427k
Uncharted - 534k
The optimist in me is hoping that's solid for a Tales game. The cynic is asking why Bamco even bothers anymore.
Did a quick look, and this was the top-selling Tales game (when compared to the PS2 and Wii titles) by about 20k. It's gotta be doing better business overseas to keep generating sequels/spinoffs.
Well ho-lee-shit at Yakuza 2, there. No wonder they're being so... "fuck you" about Yakuza 3.
Yakuza 1 did 56k. Kind of insane the fervent fanbase it has when it seems no one played the damn things!

And as an update to my OP:

Zack and Wiki is now at a grand total of 117k. I take it back. It bombed. Crazy to think that there was ZERO long tail for this title, since it only sold another 35k or so in the past year. I think it's a bit overrated as a game, but it certainly deserved better than that.

Oh, and Kane & Lynch stands at 300k (360) and 197k (PS3), an increase of about 150k total in the past year. If they made it cheaply enough, I suppose it's possible to have been profitable. Certainly a go for a sequel considering the tech and basic asset creation is done.
Hmm, glad Valkryia jumped up a bit.

How about Bioshock PS3?
Ah, Bioshock...my lovely....

998k (360) 106k (PS3)

That was a good question, I was curious myself. I would have to assume that 100k is below their expectations for such a highly regarded game. There's gotta be plenty of PS3 owners who never had a chance to play it, though I totally get the "we released it over a year later and no one came to the party" mentality.

Since you're offering, I've got a couple more if you get sales figures for PSP and DS

DS

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney
Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Justice for All
Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
Professor Layton and the Curious Village (and this has nothing to do with sales figures, but where the hell's the sequel/sequels to this?)

PSP
God of War: Chains of Olympus
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

Thanks again.
Well ho-lee-shit at Yakuza 2, there. No wonder they're being so... "fuck you" about Yakuza 3.
It's so lame too, because Yakuza 2 is an amazingly awesome game.

Ha, yes, very interesting. Thanks for that.
I too was pretty curious as to how it'd turn out.
One year is a long time.

I appreciate this thread, thanks man.

Umm, I'm curious about these:

PS3
Folklore
Time Crisis 4

360
Banjo: Nuts and Bolts
Viva Pinata 2

Fallout 3 (both)

How about Beautiful Katamari? I'd be interested in that one because all of a sudden it is somewhat difficult to find new and goes for a slight premium on ebay - so I figure a great portion of the stock sent to stores in the U.S. has been sold, though I'm sure it was pretty low to start with.

And to compare to Chrono Trigger (that 21K is hard to believe) what about Final Fantasy IV and Dragon Quest IV?

Oh, and another game that probably should have sold more than it did like Z&W (I'm guessing it is also low): De Blob.

And with that request, I'm off to play Dragon Quest V ;).

Edit - Oh yeah, an thanks for that awesome bit of news about the Vesperia LE actually being quite limited (to 6700). That is probably the first time ever I've gotten an LE that actually turned out to be one. And the funny thing is they don't even call it a "limited edition" unlike the overproduced crap that most games try to pass off as "limited". It is simply a "Special Edition".

Wow, I guess Sega has every right now to tell those of wanting a US Yakuza 3 to piss off. Oh well, my import no-fun-your-Japanese-sucks-use-a-FAQ copy is in transit. :p These stats are always facinating, thanks again rolandx.

Tales does really well in Japan, at least. I'm wondering how Tales Wii did here?

I guess we need to update the OP title to Zack & Wiki Bombed. :(

Just curious about these numbers - I'm sure they include every copy sold no matter the price, right? Because Zack & Wiki was clearanced at TRU and Kmart (and maybe Sears too?) and sold in pretty large quantities from those places. I would have though that would have pushed the numbers up considerably.

Good to have you back.

I was wondering about these:

Final Fantasy Tactics A2
Disgaea DS/PSP
Star Ocean: First Departure PSP
Yggdra Union PSP
Persona 4
Civilization Revolution DS/360/PS3
Lego Indiana Jones
Lego Batman
Eternal Sonata PS3

Thanks in advance.
