Wasn't Chaos Field a Gamecube game? I believe it does contain that exact game on there, along with two others.

Disgaea PSP had a pretty big head start on the DS version. Wasn't the DS version released around a year after the PSP version?
Your correct. Chaos Field was a Gamecube game. I was thinking of one that was called Nanostray. It was an early DS game.
I just want to say that I love this thread and to thank Roland for putting up all these numbers.
Seconded. Thanks a lot, Roland. It's always interesting to take a peek in this thread.

I just got a copy of Battle Fantasia and it's fun. I also put over 300 hours into Disgaea for the PSP.

I can't believe how many people would rather play crap instead of quality. I guess the small number of educated (or dare I say sophisticated) gamers really do get drowned out by the Maddenites, Marioans, and Hannahites.

Anyways, I second the Force Unleashed numbers request across the different systems. :)

Odin Sphere update - 149k

And yes, NPD numbers are generally not available to the public...their business is strictly selling these stats to publishers. I just don't get it though...feels like a huge missed opportunity. Obviously the public is interested, and just look at how much publicity top-selling books and music lists are, not to mention the weekend movie box office tallies showing up on every newscast.

Just feels to me like NPD should open this stuff up and make an official site for it. Publicize the hell out of it...publishers will be able to tout their top-selling titles, news outlets will pick up the stories just like they post movie numbers...it's nothing but free publicity if done well.

Eh...if anyone has any NPD connections, tell them to get in touch with me. I would LOVE to spearhead this.
I can't imagine that being a Toys R Us exclusive helped at all, so I'm wondering what kind of numbers Soul Bubbles did for the DS?

Very happy about the Persona 4 numbers, glad it sold well. My one request:

Burnout Paradise

Thanks roland, I love you!
Aw yeah, feelin' the love! Thanks man!

Burnout Paradise - 371k (360) 306k (PS3) [such a ballsy game with the chances they took...yet, I didn't love it as much as I know I should have. Numbers are interesting in how close the two platforms are.]
That last statement piqued my interest. Now I'm wondering how well Blast Works: Build, Trade, Destroy (Wii) did; after all, it does seem like one of the few shmups in recent memory that has had some major backing behind it.
I couldn't agree more. I'm a stats guy and I'd love to be able to see those numbers. I think all of your points about the potential upsides are spot on. Until that happens though, your thread here is a great substitute. Thanks for all of the work.

Does your listing have the individual SKUs for Guitar Hero and Rock Band (game-only, guitar, band, etc)? Curious what GH3, GHWT, and RB1/2 are looking like across PS3, 360, and Wii.

True...though they supposedly worked out a deal with at least Wal-Mart a year or two ago. Still, who the hell knows really what they exactly track and not track. It's all gotta be a pretty strong estimation system in the end.

Yup, they track each different GH and RB package separately...kind of nuts how many chart spots they all take up.

I'm curious how much the following games sold:

Eternal Sonata
Saints Row 1 and 2
Sid Meier's Civilization revolution

Reading through this thread , it makes me feel bad that for a lot of these poor selling games that I didn't buy them when they came out to support them. I mean its one thing to be cheap and wait for a price drop for the big name games since you know they'll fall eventually , but then to use that money saved to buy an underdog game like Ultimate Shooting Collection or something.

I just feel guilty sometimes when I see that games like Yakuza 2 or USC or whatever sell bad , and I didn't help any because I waited for a price drop , or for the game to go on clearance or to get the game used from GS/Goozex. At the same time its hard to guess which games need that support and which don't.

Honestly I thought BBs layout wasn't too bad. It sure beats the hell out of having to buy gutted games because they needed the box for display.:bomb:

I really cannot blame NPD for trying to monetize this information. It's very, very useful stuff and I'm sure they incur some costs to get it.

Also, can I get Hotel Dusk's sales to date? I'm really curious as to how much slapping the ugly Touch generations label helped sales. I hope it did. I think I can dig out the numbers from before the rebranding to subtract it out.

Hotel Dusk - 155k

Depends on the BB. Some are nicely laid out, but some still have the "nuclear fallout shelter" mentality to them. But 100% agreed on gutted copies being absolutely ridiculous.

No, don't get me wrong, I totally get the current NPD model. I just think they could get a lot more from their data than just charging publishers for it. It's a unique commodity, and I feel that there's better, and potentially more lucrative, ways to use it.

Thanks for the Blast Works number; I agree, it sounded like a pretty feature-filled game, and there have been some great deals for it.

- With Puzzle Quest Galactrix out this week, I have to wonder if sales of the physical Puzzle Quest: COTW versions (DS, PSP, PS2, and Wii) is why they limited the new one to the DS.

- Jake Hunter: Memories of the Past was recently announced in Nintendo Power (Short story: It's what the first release should have been), so I can't help but wonder what the first release, Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles (DS), has sold. On that note, there are a few other visual novel-type games I'd be interested in hearing about: Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law (PS2, PSP, Wii) and Time Hollow (DS).

- Not only has Okami had a Wii port this year, it was also reprinted under the PS2's Greatest Hits label. It might be interesting to see how the reprint increased sales.

- Air Traffic Chaos, Bangai-O Spirits, Bleach: Dark Souls, and Kirby Super Star Ultra were released in 2008 for the DS, so it might be interesting to see how they are faring.
