Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance Mark of Mastery Edition $54.99 @ TRU
^ no offense but that's stupid. If you really want to make some money on CE/LE's you need to sell them just before or after release when the demand is high. Very few increase in value significantly over time (maybe ~ 5 a year) and most are lucky to be valued at the original MSRP a year later.

Either buy and sell immediately or wait until they are on clearance ala Uncharted 3, Skyrim, Max Payne 3 and resell that way.

IIRC the week before and directly after Dark Souls CE was release (at least the PS3 version) they were selling for around ~ $100 as demand was high and it was believed they were going to be limited. Looks like you missed the opportunity.
No offense taken. In hindsight it probably wasn't the best decision ever.

Generally speaking I'm not one to buy CE/LE, but I thought I could make out like a bandit after having seen how much the Demon's Souls Deluxe/Phantom editions were going for... unfortunately that wasn't the case for me.

Oh wells. You live and learn right.

FWIW previous to me trying to exploit that, I had picked up the Demon's Souls Greatest Hits w/ artbook and soundtrack CD for $15 new and was able to later flip that for a $50-$60 profit.
Just a heads up guys, it seems GameStop stores restocked these today.
you sure because I was at 6 different ones today and all were sold out =(

They might be on hold for preorders or ones that were opened up from people that didn't pick it up. Technically Gamestop only has to hold the items for 48 hours then issue a phone call. At least thats what the manager of the one by me said.

Yes. My nearest store had no reserves and didn't get a single LE in for Tuesday. Yesterday they received some in a normal shipment.

True for normal games. For CEs, GameStop holds them for one week if reserved.

I was able to pick up ME3 the Friday it came out (I believe it was released on a Tuesday) from GS with no fuss. It must be a newer rule or something.

Man, I'm glad I got my copy but still pissed that Newegg sent me a shitty copy. I contacted them about the damage and they just gave the whole, "that sucks, sorry, but we don't really care" response.
For those who are missing AR cards, you can submit a ticket to Square Enix Support and they'll send you back an e-mail asking you for some information via fax:

Contact Email Address
Ticket Number
Store Purchased From
A Copy of the Receipt
Shipping Address
Cards you received: e.g. AKHE-001

It looks like they'll be sending out new cards for those affected!
I hope this is true. I submitted a ticket a few days ago and got an automated response, but haven't been asked for any information from the support team yet. I hope they respond back soon; Amazon already did and is offering a 30% refund ($17) on my MoM edition because of the missing AR cards. I'm debating whether I should just take the refund and use the card scans from the internet (making my Mom Edition cheaper than the standard edition) or wait for Square-Enix to send out new AR cards.

why not just wait for SE to send out the cards? 30% back is great unless you mean Amazon wants you to return it and receive 70% of the refund instead of a full refund.

but you'll never know if you're missing any AR cards!
Glad I got a great deal way back when on Amazon. This puppy is staying sealed...
Great game though!
You'll never be able to Play it then!

what is worth more a sealed puppy or a sealed kitty :)
Received my copy from Newegg today and the box is all beat up because they shipped it in a bubble mailer :(
Same with mine. I sent them an email complaining about it. So far it's been about 3 back and forth emails of them assuming UPS did something devious when I've made it clear every time that it is 100% Newegg's fault it was damaged.

That's pretty much Newegg's default. I had them pull the same thing when they sent me that Sony 3D display with no outer box and it showed up with the box torn almost in half and parts of the display cracked. I immediately shut the Customer Service rep down and said any issue with UPS is between them and UPS, that they were the ones who chose how to package the item and who to ship it with and that as the customer, I either wanted an immediate replacement or a refund and a return label. They didn't bounce me around after that and handled the situation.

Don't bother with emails. You can use their live chat and they should immediately offer you a solution. For me, it was a $10 giftcard to compensate the damage or a full refund if I returned the game. Considering how hard it is to find a copy of this edition now, I took the giftcard.

Newegg should realize they are in the wrong considering there are a number of people who had this game damaged. They should have never shipped this kind of game in a bubble mailer.

Well, for one I wasn't sure if Square Enix was going to send out the cards. They hadn't requested any information as of when I originally posted about my situation. Thankfully, they just responded back today, making the same requests as skullflame said they would, so my confidence that this will be resolved is a little higher now.

As for the Amazon part, they offered 30% back and I keep the product or a full refund if I wanted to send it back to them. I was thinking I would feel guilty if I filed a claim at SE to have them send out the AR cards and I also got a 30% discount on it from Amazon. That would give me a complete Mark of Mastery set for only $38. But, after talking with an Amazon rep, they didn't seem to mind that I was contacting the manufacturer and still offered me the partial refund as their own way of making it right to the customer, so I ended up taking it.

I've noticed this come back into stock pretty regularly at Gamestop. Does everyone here think its going to be rare? It seems like it could go either way.

Gamestop is the only store I have seen have stock since release (online at least).

I'd say this has a much better chance then many other CE's.

Diablo 3 CE re-stocked within 1-2 weeks after release, but went OOS after that.. this came out 7/31.. you should get it now that it's back at GS..

did TRU actually cancel? I ask because I had ME3 CE preordered online and got the backorder notice but forgot about it. Then maybe 2 weeks later sometime from TRU arrived in the mail and I was like what's this! I believe TRU uses bubble mailers so it was a bit beat up
I'm beginning to grow extremely impatient from this backorder situation. how long do they expect us to wait?
You should have ordered it from either gamestop or amazon during their restock. Your order at Toys r Us will most likely be canceled.

My Amazon order came today. Perfect condition, shipped in a box with bubble wrap, all 5 AR cards present, and the game itself and art cards are all pristine. Nailed it!

Im hoping to find a copy in store or through amazon to exchange my damaged newegg copy...

Would have ordered from gamestop but shipping kills it.

Just got an email from TRU saying this should arrive between the 17th-22nd. :bouncy:I'm happy. I was freaking out from the last email where they said I would have to wait a month then they'd just cancel my order if they had no game for me. 2 1/2 week wait since the backorder notice. I assume they may even have some in stock if people cancelled early thinking TRU was sold out.

Shipping does but now that it is almost impossible to find I am glad I got it throught Gamestop and it came in a sturdy box with no damage to the game.

I really, REALLY hope that they do a good job with this, but I ordered two Limited/Collector's Editions from Toys R Us, and NEVER AGAIN! They ship EVERYTHING in huge bubble mailers. This is fine for regular disc based games or DS cases, but NOT for Limited/Collector's Editions. I got burned the first time and should have learned. My most recent, and last purchase ever from TRU, was the Zelda: Skyward Sword Gold Wiimote Bundle. They took weeks to ship it, and once it arrived it was completely destroyed. I mean, it looked like it had been run over and then buried in a landfill for 2 years.

Their customer service was no help either. I wanted an exchange, but of course the Zelda: SS Bundle was sold out. So they offered to refund my money if I sent it back, but they would not pay for return shipping.

Like I said, I hope they ship these in a box for everyone, but I will not be buying from TRU online ever again.

ARRGGGHHH....damn TRU shipped mine in the stupid bubble mailer and the game box was completely crushed. On the phone with them now to complain and see if they can do anything about it. I might accept a 50% discount but otherwise I'll be returning it and getting my money back since a big reason I got it in the first place (over the standard edition) was for the collectibility. Stupid poo-throwing monkey bastards.

Hopefully you got a better deal than I did. They basically told me to return it or go pound sand. And by return it, they meant at my expense.

So, like I said, never again.

Well, they offered me a slightly better deal...return it (at their expense) or keep it. I talked to a supervisor and he was fairly sympathetic, saying he also collected games himself, but the best he could offer was a 10% refund. I told him that since I'll probably be able to pick up the game itself for $20 or so during the holiday sales, anything more than $40 for the crushed CE just wasn't worth my time, so back it goes.

I also told him it would be the last CE I'd buy from TRU since they ship their CE's in bubble envelopes, ensuring they will always be crushed. He didn't seem to be aware of that, but agreed that it was a pretty stupid way to ship a CE of a game. So, no game for me and I'm out about an hour of my life waiting on the phone and sending the crap back. Almost as bad as Deep Discount...actually, maybe worse because at least with Deep Discount you don't have anything to ship back since they never fulfill their CE orders.

Shipping in envelopes is completely hit and miss. Even Amazon will ship in bubble mailers randomly. I think all Zelda Bundle's during Christmas last year was sent in bubble mailers. Mine were all completely destroyed. I sent all of them back, I ordered 3 or 4 I think.

you must have ordered them separately as Amazon usually uses boxes for orders with 2 or more CEs when only one would be sent in a bubble mailer.

My TRU order that I paid for with PayPal is still pending. I wonder if they will ever ship it. If not, it's not the end of the world. I am still crossing my fingers.

Yeah I almost always force the retailer to use a box by buying two CE's or putting something else in the order that would justify a box.

TRU is notoriously horrible though. First and foremost their bubble mailers aren't even rigid and they have a one size fits all mentality (i.e. they only seem to use XXXL bubble mailers) which often leaves to much space for the items to move around. By the time the bubble mailers reach me they usually offer no more protection then a paper bag. Once I ordered between 10-15 clearance games from TRU website and they put them all in one huge mailer and at least 3/4 of them had major damage to the cases.

From what I've heard they are so bad that it is becoming harder for eBay to overlook and wipe clean their feedback so that their selling account can stay in good standing

Ugh, that sucks about Toys R Us. I worked as a customer service representative for their website from 2006-2007, and it sounds like they still have their same terrible policies in place. Even *we* hated those policies, and I would always do everything I could to help out dissatisfied customers, but sometimes our hands were tied. What's worse, the refunds would take upwards of 30 days, sometimes more, to go through, and sometimes even those would slip through the cracks somehow.

I received my Toys R Us order last week (back ordered originally) and it came in a bubble mailer but the box wasn't destroyed. Corner of the box was slightly dented but minor. It sounds like the condition depends on the way the item is treated by the employees at the delivery service. I get horrible packages from Best Buy but I have heard others don't.
It sounds like the condition depends on the way the item is treated by the employees at the delivery service.
Well yea. When you don't protect your shipment, the condition it arrives in will vary greatly from parcel to parcel. When you package properly, they should all arrive undamaged.

I had a potentially bad experience with Best Buy recently where the tops of several shipping boxes were crushed due to there being insufficient fill material.
