I think people are reading this wrong, as I've only seen one person address it the way I read it. Unless I'm misunderstanding it, Josh meant 110/50 as opposed to the current 120/40. That is, You earn the $15 one when spending $50-$109.99, the $45 as well when spending $110+.

I certainly approve, though I like point card discounts as well. Nice if we could get Wii points in on it.
Josh just meant spend $110, get a $50 coupon. That way people wouldnt have to look for a filler item when buying 2 $59.99 games.
Unfortunately Josh wanted to get Okamiden but wasn't able to due to some internal problems so you would have to go elsewhere if you want it.
Yeah, we didn't bring in Okamiden

Josh is the only reason anyone should ever step into a KMart store.

Unfortunately, the majority of KMart staff sucks as much as Josh rocks, and there are a lot more of them than there are of him.

This is why I will pay a little more rather than try to get in on these deals. It just isn't worth the potential stress.

That's the real critique to be leveled at kmart. Piss poor customer service on all levels at the retail level. Clueless managers, clueless employees, all of whom make up random shit, and give excuses.

Even tho I have had only positive experiences with only minor speedbumps, that's the one thing I have really noticed about kmart. Poorly trained, uninspired hourlies with incompetent uninformed management.

I'm curious if there's some kind of real management training program or if they just randomly bounce hourly employees in when there's an opening.

I would have just thought it to be my location but it looks to be the norm. Even though the lady who runs the electronics show where I go is friendly and nice she is completely clueless about videogames and deals, and 90% of the time the games aren't out on launch day, I have to pester someone. Just the other day I had one guy tell me he couldn't do a thing about new releases until the manager came back from break, and that would be a half hour. I was incredulous and had to make noise at the service desk to get people moving on it. Even then it was close on 15 minutes. There really needs to be a customer service training program where people have to own the outcome of their actions.

On that note there's no reason whatsoever that people should have to leave shortchanged, immediate giftcards should be issued for screw ups.
Its your fault not the customer.

There's some constructive criticism.

Wasn't trying to be unfair in criticisms.

It's just been happening a lot.

I'd think that Josh would be the one most annoyed because when things go wrong in the store he gets to handle it on a personal level. He has the most motivation to get things right the first time of anyone at corporate, i would think. If I kept having to clean up other people's messes at my job i'd be pretty annoyed.

And yeah nobody in the stores knows wtf is going on. That said I do find that to be the case at Best Buy, Target, Gamestop, or any b&m retailer. They've all got their rude and lazy employees.

While I agree with this, the problem I ran into isn't that they knew they screwed up and wouldn't help. It was that they didn't think they were wrong and then made up a reason why it didn't work as planned: "1600 pt cards don't count towards the $120."

I could understand if they were like "you know this shouldve worked this way but we can't make the coupon print and we can't just give out gift cards. Sorry." Instead it was "you're wrong and I refuse to listen at all."

You know what kmart needs? A secret shopper program. Maybe if the store manager knew they'd be judged randomly, they'd get their ass in gear and learn what deals are going on in their own store.
Also not under your direct control, but I consider the snafu that prevented KMart stocking PC versions of multi-platform titles to have been a significant issue this year. I had every intention to purchase DA2 with a discounted PSN card, but I only want the game on PC as that's how I played the first. As it stands, I still don't own it (and will wait until the final edition at this point) and never had another opportunity to buy a $50 point card for $20 since the promotion was only attached to games I don't care for.

Portal 2 will finally net me a discounted card, though not at as great a discount. Still, coupons! Yay!
I love acid.

Josh just got back from Kmart store number 3938 here in Jackson,Michigan. Spent 160 dollars, got my 45 dollar coupon but no 15 dollar coupon. Good news is Dave and Michelle who both work in the Electronics department were very helpful. Apologized to me and then offered me a 15 dollar gift card. So wanted to let you know.
Now I'm starting to get wary.
I was going to use gamer coupons and sywr points and I see issues arising where the coupns will take the total down and won't print my coupons. Seems like what's happening.
Is there any official word on this? I was planning on using my SYWR points and gift card to lower the upfront cost of buying Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat tomorrow.
Yeah, we didn't bring in Okamiden
Thanks for the info, guys. I need to come up with a Plan B, I think!

So does it look like everything's good with the Collector's Edition of Mortal Kombat working with the $120/60 deal and triggering the coupons properly? When you spend the extra $20.01 that is.

I don't quite get all the hitching in this thread. Josh and the rest of his team have been easy to deal with and they are working hard for the community. Sure, some employees are shit heels but that applies anywhere. The attitude that they better personally apologize to you is ridiculous.

Be frustrated. Be upset. Don't act like a dick. As someone who works (very, verylong hours) in a customer service job the worst feeling is being debased by someone who thinks they are better than you. Especially when you are trying to help.

Basically what I am saying is that if everyone didn't act so entitled this thread may actually result in a useful discourse.
Yeah......not a lot of pre-testing here.....a lot of roll the dice and see what happens :)

For better or worse.
Ha ha ha! That's f***ing pathetic! You rock, Josh. My loyalty is to Kmart as long as you post here.

Is there any recourse if you bought over $120.00 in video games, but had to do it at two different stores due to stocking issues? I received the $15 coupon, but according to the electronics employee, they've never had any copies of a fairly new game that I wanted, so I had to go to another one to find the game.

Quick question.
If I buy MK and Portal 2 and a XBLM card, how much would that cost? Basically, I'm trying to figure out if I need to buy a XBLM card on top of MK and P2 to get the deal getting 60 back, or if I can just buy the two games.

@alactronancy

This has been answered about a million times.
Check the OP.
Two 59.99 games equal 119.98. If you buy an xbl points card you get it at $10 off. So you would be at 129 ish. So you'd be fine.

STILL don't see why the original guy trying to scam Kmart on the MK and Portal 2 deal thought he was up to something. After reading through the deal countless times, there is no possible way to get the $60 coupons and end up getting the games for $45. Was he planning on returning the games and hoping the coupons didn't become invalid?

Josh, I sent you an email just now. Like others, I spent over $120 ($142 in my case) on video games today but only received the $45 coupon. The $15 coupon failed to print.

As I recall, part of his grand scheme involved using the coupons practically immediately. That impossibility shoots the rest of the plot out of the water.
by the way, SHC, can we get that list of April price drops? So far, all that's been reported is Fire Emblem, Mario Strikers, Punch Out.
Not sure if its been mentioned but Dragon Quest V (ds) is $29.99. Used to be $39.99.

If you actually saw a copy, buy it. V is a rare find. (IV, VI, and IX not so much.)

Oh trust me I jumped on it the moment I saw it. It was tagged $39.99, but came up $29.99. Was a nice little treat.

don't paint us all with the same broad stroke just because one person is acting like a brat.

I bought $140 worth of games and used $90 worth of SYWR points. The $45 coupon printed off just fine (no $15 coupon, obviously).

Yeah not everyone is acting the same. I know that there will always be problems with deals no matter where you, whether be coupon not printing, no signs, item not in stock. Not everything will ever be perfect.

I love all the deals I get at Kmart and the great work Josh and his team are doing. I know if I ever have a problem to just email one of them and it will be solved.

I am just glad that today, even though I had a problem at my local store with the 15 dollar coupon not printing, that I was treated with respect and the woman that rang up my items today, offered me a 15 dollar gift card to make up for the coupon not printing.

Important: If a coupon did not print or you did not receive the value of the promotion due to a store issue I will compensate the difference. I only need the following (Please copy and paste the format below for quicker service):

We try very hard to get back with any emails Jim and I receive within 48 hours (weekend not included). Gift cards issued usually take 7-10 days to arrive once confirmed.
Could I just purchase a xbl card for the $10 off each card deal or is this discount part of purchase of portal 2 and/or MK?
You only get savings on the card if you buy Portal 2 or MK. Buying both gets you the discount on two cards, no more.

Sent an email to Jim. Hopefully it is a quick fix. Kind of a bummer that it didn't work right off the bat though. Also the coupon says it cannot be used in conjunction with any other coupons. I thought I had read that the 45 and 15 could be combined for use on one full price game.

+1 for the quote. I wish more people would take this approach to wherever they go. It isn't the end of the world. It is bad when you get poor customer service, but it is ten times worse when the person that got the service acts in an inappropriate way.

OMG, we've been teased by a trickle of tantalizing drops. WE NEED THE FULL LIST!!!:whee:

I thought about that, but I didn't want make an issue for the clerk at the second store, nor did I want them to say, "too bad for you."
If there are any issues with the points cards, I will honor the deal as if they were intended to be purchased. I don't want a store issue to be the reason for not taking us up on the deal.
So how would that work? Like would I buy the two games and just send u a scan/pic to get the 60 (or i guess, 50)? and wat if i got mk and portal 2 and wanted two points cards? would i get the (i guess now... 40)
I bought $140 worth of games and used $90 worth of SYWR points. The $45 coupon printed off just fine (no $15 coupon, obviously).
i assume that the guy had an issue earlier cuz it was a coupon which doesnt pay but just takes off the amount? i'm not sure, thats the only thing i can see --- hopefully my sywr points and gift cards do work as planned and should be working
Oh trust me I jumped on it the moment I saw it. It was tagged $39.99, but came up $29.99. Was a nice little treat.
ohh man, i hope mine has that, my kmart is kinda out of the way and seems to have a lot of things in stock, but... we'll see, :D

Why do the stores nearby me don't refill the $20 psn cards??? They have run out of those for a long long time....doesn't kmart get them anymore?????

1 more q...if i pick up 2 copies of MK + 2 psn /xbox cards...would I get $60 in coupons + each card = 10 off????

There is certainly one person in particular being a brat, but I think that the "criticism" in this thread is frequently far from "constructive."
I had to stop myself from being Altanis.

:/

Would they really do that if I'm 1 penny shy? I don't wanna buy anything else.
