KOF 94 re-bout looks awesome

I just bought kof94-95-96 for the neogeo aes system. $105 shipped, oh well. At least my aes collection looks bigger and I think its sweet playing them on the neo geo :).

striaght up port guy here. I really would like to get a supergun and an MVS kit, just have not had the funds together to get one yet

Yea it looks like they put some real effort on this, high-resolution sprites and 3d backgrounds. I can't say I like all of those backgrounds though, but usually stuff look better when you see them in motion (instead of just trying to find flaws in a screenshot).

I think Gamespot has video of it. The animation isn't actually very incredibly smooth. It's actually about the same as the original. I'd post a link but I'm to lazy.

^^ I just looked them up on gamespot :) The videos are pretty fuzzy, so it is difficult to tell if they have added frames or if it is about the same as the old kof games.

I guess it is basically the old sprites and animations, but redrawn in a higher resolution. If the animation is on level with the old KOF games (I assume it is), it is not bad considering that the sprites are now in high resolution, for example the Guilty Gear games are actually pretty low on animation frames but the neat resolution makes up for it.

Now having seen the videos I must say that the backgrounds look much better than I thought.

I guess it was a little premature to say it looks awesome. I figured that since this is the same board that displays Guilty Gear it would run smoothly.

Too bad it's not coming to the US.
You can thank SCEA for that...

It does look awesome though.[/quote]

I do not know. They switched to Atomiswave to improve graphics, and they seem to be making quite a lot of 3D games. Maybe they can strike some type of deal.

If they don't I am sure MS would not mind seeing these come to the Xbox.

I'm actually most excited by them starting the multimatching broadband service for PS2 with this game.
Not to mention the lineup to follow that includes:

King of Fighters '95-'97 3 in 1
King of Fighters '98-'00 3 in 1
Garou Mark of the Wolves
Bakumatsu Roman Gekka no Kenshi 2 in 1 (Last Blade)
Twinkle Star Sprites (tentative title)

--Credit to Gamespot for the info

Kudos to SNK! Now they just need to make sure these Neo Geo ports get Stateside...

SCEA doesn't want to publish 2d titles in the US, its the only reason Xbox got anything from SNK. I'm sure they'd love having them but it makes it less likely that SNK will do it. Which sucks because I want all of these games, especially if they're on XBL.

What do you mean?, if this game is animated as smoothly as the old king of fighters games, then it probably would be just as smooth as Guilty Gear. If your comment was about the "smoothness" of the videos, it is probably just because the videos were badly captured..

I think it is too early to say if these games are coming to US, I'm sure atleast some of them will get released outside Japan.

I hope they do come out for the Xbox, as all SNK games are now going to incorperate online play. It would be reason enough for me to get another Xbox.

As for the Smoothness quote, I meant the graphics and how everything moves overall. I just wish SNK would put some time into making these games look as great as they can

I agree that there is room for improvement, but I think they did a pretty good job. Especially considering this is not one of their high-profile games.

As for the sprites the only thing they could have done better was to completely re-design (new outfits?) and animate the characters, I guess that had taken far too long. Atleast this is going to be their first 2D game with higher resolution sprites, I guess the next step is complete character re-designs :)

Even though in the video the backgrounds looked pretty good, I still think the ones in KOF NeoWave and NeoGeo Battle Colloseum look better. Actually the ones in NBC look stunning, I have high hopes for that game :)..

Keep in mind that this is just a remake. I'm sure when they release an actual "brand new" title they will give it the smooth animation that we're all used to from them.

Maybe it's some kind of test run to see how this kind of style works or something.

Yea, that's why Playstation 2 gets games like Phantom Brave, Gradius V, KoF 2000/2001, Street Fighter Anniversary Collection, the upcoming KoF 2002 / 2003 pack, R-Type Final, man the list could go on and on.

And I'm not quite sure what you meant by "publishing", since SNK has their own US branch for that.
