Now, Konami has axed the axe, telling MTV that they'll only be offering the unwieldy drum kit in mid-November, about a month after the standalone game launches October 14th. The full peripheral lineup from the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games should work just fine with Rock Revolution but, something tells us Konami's going to have a tough time leading this revolution. Well, there's always a chance of a legal payday!
Seems like Rock Revolution's even more doomed than it was before since it's almost completely relying on Rock Band and Guitar Hero instruments to be worth anything to gamers.
eh, it's got some good songs, I'll probably get it when it's cheap.
This.

I think it's going to end up being a 'clearance' hit. No one will buy it when it's first out, but once it drops to around $20 or less, people will start picking it up.

This news isn't exactly new. I could have sworn I heard a while ago that Konami was never going to bother releasing a guitar for this game, and was going to stick to using a GH guitar (since it's a lot easier than trying to make their own).

They already get some kind of royalty for Guitar Hero anyway. I don't think Konami would have done a rock game right anyway.
If anything they should try to make karaoke revolution more fully featured in the vein of Rockband.

I don't think game will sell much. Most people who are interested in rock rhythm games probably already have Rock Band or Guitar Hero. Either it will sell horribly or it will pick up when the game hits the bargain bin. I still don't think it will get sales remotely close to Rock Band and Guitar Hero.

Game quality wise. I heard most of the tracks are not even masters. There is only 40 songs on the game while RB2 and GH:WT are around the 80-something mark. Even though it says it in the name, I don't think the game is much of a revolution. Even if the drum kit is "uniquely" designed.

It doesnt have to outsell GH or RB to be successful. The game can be a success if half the people that got GH3 pick it up. The casual gamer is going to look at the track and decide to buy it.

This will absolutely blow away Guitar Hero and Rock band if we can connect our own drum kits. My dad has a Roland drumset....drummania kills with it :)

Im pretty sure that half is way over realistic expectations.

Also, I just don't think Konami wants to flood the market with ANOTHER guitar. If you go to game accessory aisles these days, there are WAY too many guitar controllers IMO. Konami felt that since they were already there, why not just use them?

Game came out last month... with the drums coming out in a couple of weeks...

Did anyone get it or anyone know anyone who got it?
I believe it's actually entirely covers
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the mediocre reviews it's been getting mentioned that it's all covers. If they can't pay to at least have some real songs, it deserves to be in a bargain bin.

Poor Konami. First you botched the Beatmania US release, and now this.

Maybe they should stay Bemani-style games. Trying to assimilate in the already crowded rhythm game market is pretty hard these days.

This is a shame, I was hoping that they would have a decent guitar and drum kit I would be able to get on clearance when nobody buys the game then buy disc versions of the other stuff.

There are a couple songs I like that are on Rock Revolution. Who knows maybe I'll pick it up if I ever find it for $5.

Kind of sucks only 2 out of the 41 songs are masters.

I haven't heard all the songs yet... what songs did you think were the best ones on there?

I'm at least waiting for the drums to come out.
