Left 4 Dead - Gen. Discussion & Info

For those of you guys still playing in public games, what are you doing? Add CAGL4D to your friend list, and then you will have a bunch of CAG'ers who want to play Left 4 Dead with you. Just check it when you're online and message any of them to ask if they want to play and boom you got a group that won't be shooting at each other or silent.

Good deal have to do that later on after work.

Hmm are there any organized CAGs that want to play against my team? My team has yet to play any other team in versus mode that didn't suck.

Just to restate:

Looking for any already formed team or some random CAGs to assemble to play my team in versus.

I hope this thread is only dead because it's finals time. Still waiting for my FR to be accepted and challengers to my team.

Yeah, I believe that's probably the main reason.

It's pretty much expected with all the deals now out for this game and with winter break coming up that activity will be pretty high in the up-coming weeks.

I love this game! When playing online i prefer the group to go rambo once your acquainted and know where to go. But i just hate it when one of your party members just wonders off to do his own thing and gets killed. It's bad enough already that ppl who play this game hardly communicate when the game is solely based on team communication. If you like to talk and looking for someone to play with send me a FR.

Got this last week and I haven't been able to try it online yet, so if any CAGs would like to do a run through of one of the episodes tonight with a rookie, let me know. I'm on the CAGL4D list as well.

Sorry for the slow delay; I've been quite busy. Turns out there were numerous pending Friend Requests (over 20). So, if you haven't added CAGL4D, add it! I'll add friend requests, etc.. every Friday.
I got it for $30.

Eat it!
Yes, you call this game dumb and you buy it none the less...

Well I have you all beat cause I got it for $60. And Gamestop was playing dumb about the preorder promotion so I didn't get the $5 off and when I asked about it they tried to explain to me that the $5 I use to preorder a game goes towards the $60 price of the game and that I'm not supposed to get it back... And then I bought it again on PC for another $50. ^_____^
Pffft... I got it as birthday present from my gf. :)
Curses... he beats me out by 15 dollars.

Hackers Griefing Left 4 Dead on 360

Witches and tanks galore ruining player experiences.

By Steve Watts, 12/09/2008
Most PC games see hacks and mods, but now even Left 4 Dead for the Xbox 360 is getting in on the action. Ars Technica received a reader tip that outlined some strange hacks seen in the 360 version of the game. "Recently, I joined a [Versus] game and found myself in a safe house at the beginning of a chapter," he said. "Suddenly, about 30 witches spawned in the safe house with me, followed by two tanks." The tipster's in-game character wasn't long for this world, of course, but his experience helped bring the 360 hacks to the public attention. A video (above) shows off the many hacks, from the funny to downright mean.
Though it went largely unnoticed, the Xbox 360 version of Team Fortress 2 has been seeing hacks for about a month, mostly consisting of low gravity and altered voice commands. Seeing as both games run on the Source engine, it's not surprising to see that Left 4 Dead has had the same happen, though much faster than its more comical cousin. Valve is a PC company first and foremost, and hasn't been very quick to support console versions of its games. But Left 4 Dead was seen by many as a push into the console market, so we'll have to see if this time they offer a patch.

I still have not picked this game up yet for my 360 and now I read this. Is this going to be a problem or do people think Valve will fix these issues?

Really? Even on the 360 version huh?

Anyway, I did a couple of cheese yesterday night with Joe which was pretty fun. I can not get any of the damn Expert level cheese though. Shit is crazy son.
Expert is a bitch, We should try it sometime sood. We just need really good players... maybe I should find someone else ;)
add me, I'll be down for Expert... we almost completed Expert in the subway level the other day but then someone got disconnected and it went to hell lol

Well I've never encountered the hacking, yet, but I also haven't played it in a few days.

As long as you play with friends, I wouldn't worry about this to much.

I have the Orange Box for the 360 and I can confirm that Valve has not done anything to completely kill off the number of cheats and exploits in the game. There are still a good number of douchebags placing sentries in unreachable areas, glitching outside of the map, etc.

Unless you are planning on solely playing with friends, I would not recommend picking up Left 4 Dead for multiplayer.

Yeah, Lordwow I am down. You have to watch out for Joe though....he killed us more times than those zombies ever could.

J/K Joe ;)

Shame to hear about the hacking, and even more of a shame that Valve are being douchbags about the situation and prett much letting the games die on the 360.

My copy is already on its way though so hopefully it isn't ruined.
I'll add the CAGL4D group. I've only been playing online for a couple days though, so I'm lousy.
I'm new to the game, too and not so good. Let me know if you wanna get a game in sometime with some other novice-friendly CAGs.

Awesome. Glad to see Valve stepping up this time and in a timely fashion, as well.

I know I keep saying I will be on...but I mean it this time lol! I am going to play tonight, no matter what. I don't have any games to ref, so I will play some Last Remnant, do my treadmill, and then I will be on L4D, probably around 9 or 10. Add me if you want to play, especially if you are kind of new, like me. I have only really played offline and on normal.

Valve - 1

Valve Haters - 0

I'm glad I had the good sense to click over to the next page because for a second there I was ready to swear off this game until they address it.
I sent a FR to CAGL4D a few days ago and don't have a response yet. I'll be on a bit after 8 PST tonight.
You're already on the list. Saw you a few times online.

"title update" -- Kotaku, games journalists

Looks like the term 'patch' has also been patche-- err, "title updated."

Yup, saw it when I got on. Thanks.

I had a really frustrating experience with versus last night. It took forever to fill a room (we started with 4 of us). After twenty minutes of waiting for it to fill up we just started with two on the other side. The resulting bots were ridiculously overpowered as survivors. As a zombie it was an endless cycle of spawn, bots instantly turns to you regardless of the circumstances and kills you in one shot, wait twenty seconds to respawn and repeat.

For the next game we eliminated the bot problem, but we were grossly overpowered due to one weak member on our team. We ended up losing like 5,000-400. It's amazing how much of an impact having just one weak member has on your entire team. The game becomes ridiculously frustrating.

I think I may be done with this game for now. I've become bored with campaign on the easier difficulties and playing it on expert isn't what I would qualify as fun. It would probably be satisfying if I had a good team of three other players, but the chances of that happening are slim.

I've played this game 3 days straight now and am still excited for more but I haven't tried Expert mode yet. Is it really infinite spawns of zombies?

I'm gonna work hard to get better at killing zombie scum!

Not really, but the zombies do like 20hp per hit, so if you get surrounded you're screwed. Tanks have insane hp, if you don't burn them chances are they will wipe the whole team out.
