Mine's bigger. :booty:

175ish sets at last count.

Finally got a chance to corral all my unbuilt collection together. Behold my pile of shame.
My son, who is now close to 16, can't let a set sit for 24 hrs before ripping open the box and building. It killed him when I left MY Bonsai set sitting on the table for a couple of weeks before building. Every day he would threaten to build it for me if I didn't!

He also can't understand when I don't open action figures or Transformers. At this point, I'm not sure if I don't do it just to mess with him.

I have a McDonalds set in box that's been under a bed at my mom's house for 22 years.

Ugh ... I’m probably buying at least one of those Vidiyo sets ... I really hope I’m not impressed and don’t feel the need to start a collection.

Speaking of collections ... where do you guys put all these sets. I’m getting hesitant to buy more LEGO this year, because I’m literally running out of room to hide them in closets 😆. Side note - does anyone else have issues with actually opening and building their sets? I always feel torn because of the value of some of these older sets I haven’t gotten around to. Like the Fishing Store ... love the set, will probably never sell it ... but it goes for $450 minimum on Amazon 😱.

I'm more pissed at my ex now. They wanted to build the fishing shop, only built the bottom and then we broke up. Now I wish I left it in the box. (I did finish building it and it's beautiful).

It's my issue with the modulars. I have Pet Shop, the bank, detective office, the diner, assembly square, Parisian restaurant, cinema and not a single one is open. They are just worth so freaking much. fuck the corrupt stock market or Bitcoin I don't understand, LEGO is still where the value is.

I even have a few 'wtf' value sets like an Elves dragon that goes for $120 and I got for $17. Or a NinjaGo helicopter that was $20-$30 on sale and now goes for $80+.

hell my mom found me an unopened Pirate set from 1993 within the last 5-6-7 years and she didn't pay more than $20 for it at a flea market. It's worth $350 last I checked.

I have so much LEGO now I have about 20 big containers with build sets in my mom's basement I need to go through and see if I want to keep or sell them.

Only one I have reservations about opening is the Sea Cow.  Otherwise they're LEGO, they're meant to be built and even if you do open and build, it's still worth more retired even if it's opened.

Fishing Village is an awesome set worth building, same for the Detective Office.    Sure the Fishing Village seemingly goes for $450 on Amazon but that's only if 1. you actually want to sell it and 2. if someone actually buys it.

I don't buy LEGO as an investment, just for pure entertainment between me and my kids.   So currently all the unopened sets I have are worth $0 and will be worth that until I'm old and gray.  One day I'll have grandkids and I can start handing some down and be the cool grandpa giving out kick-ass LEGO sets.

I'm the same way. My backlog is huge, but a lot of the sets are retired and I have a hard time opening them now.

Aw man ... I’m going to spend more money than I want on Vidiyo, just because they’re so weird and quirky. I’ll probably pick up the Alien starter, see if the app is actually cool and well done ... and then embrace the addiction for the minifigure series at $5 a pop. I hope the app sucks 😜

Just wait 6 months and then the things will be 50%+ off. I don't see parents paying $20 for a pod, a figure and some printed tiles.

So here’s an early Christmas gift to all of you

The latest JangBricks YouTube video discusses VIDIYO and he explains that basically you can take a picture of any of the mini figures and tiles in the right position and scan them into the free app ... and then he proceeds to show like 5 or 6 figures in that position. So if you feel like testing it out and virtually adding those figs to the app, then feel free to check out his latest YouTube video.

The app is cute, but it’s all way over priced after messing with it.

I’m actually really glad I was able to play around with the app and better understand how the tiles actually function. It completely killed my interest in picking up one of the starters and a few of the blind boxes at launch. If it was more free form with access to any tile you own and more tiles centered around music or minifigure dancing rather than cheesy 3 second effects, I might have really been hooked.

As it exists now, it’s clearly for really little kids and not that intuitive or interesting. It honestly seems like most of the LEGO AR ventures have been little more than short lived gimmicks that don’t add much value imo.

That Amelia Earhart set is cool but probably not $100 worth of cool ... I think I’m due for a moratorium on new sets until April or May.

Sadly, wouldn’t you just need to buy 5 Vidiyo figures?

I’ll probably try to get the promo set. There are a couple larger Technic sets I’ve been debating, so hopefully one of them is in stock
You would need 5 more cents because LEGO is insane. Even TRU would give you the deal.

And

And yet one of those companies is bankrupt and the other is not. ;)
That's because of corrupt capitalism. Very similar to what was going on with Gamestop. TRU was actually making a profit. It's the hedge funds that stuck all their other companies debts on it that destroyed the company.

The latest email I received from LEGO this morning has fan builds of a mouse trap, keys and a trash broom and sweeper ... feels like we’ve reached a new point in our dystopian society 😜

It wasn't other company's debts. It was a leveraged buyout. The three venture capitalist companies only came up with 20% all Toys r Us then had to pay off the borrowed 80% debt.

Leveraged buy out? It's not a buy out if you are only buying out 20%. Why would TRU have to buy 80% of itself?
I can't buy a car or a house without a payment plan but corrupt Wall Street gangs can just buy 20% of a six billion dollar company.

Here's an article that somewhat explains what happened.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2018/04/08/amazon-didnt-kill-toys-r-us-wall-street-profiteers-did-column/491434002/

The important part...

That Toys R Us was a mastodon facing an Amazon asteroid doesn’t hold water. When the closing was announced, the retail chain still held about one-fifth of U.S. toy sales. The company was even turning a profit. But it could not overcome its overseers’ burden of debt.
So when the hedge fund owner or whatever we would call them knew they could never pay the other 80% they owned they added more debt to the company so when it went bankrupt they could get rid of extra debt.

Meanwhile in Biden's America he wrote the bankrupt bill so the only debt you can't get rid of is student loan debt and prevents you from trading Gamestop stock so the hedge funds can drive that company into the ground at the lost of tens of thousands of jobs. But as long as the rich get richer it's all good.

I learned in fiance class that LBO does not stand for "leveraged buyout" but rather "large bankruptcy opportunity".

Cool fact:  Best Buy Birthday 10% off coupons work on Legos!

For some reason BB thinks my Bday is in Feb. (it ain't) and it sent me an email saying My Best Buy Offers has a 10% Bday coupon expiring tonight.  Goofing around on the site and I noticed it discounted a Lego set on my saved list.  Searching all Legos confirms it works on just about all the sets.

So do I buy the Star Destroyer for $70 off?  If I do, where do I hide that monster size box for ten months?  (No, Green Giant. I'm not keeping it at your place!)  If I do buy it, will there be a better SW UCS set this year?  12 hours to pull the trigger.  :whistle2:k

Take a look at the resale price on older Star Destroyers and I think you know what you need to do 😜

Most of my LEGO is at my mom's as I don't have room and will need to move for work. So can we keep it at her place? :)

Target is supposed to give me 10% off for my birthday through the Red Card, never ever have I gotten a coupon.

Funny you mention the Target coupon, didn’t even know it was a thing ... but I received an envelope in the mail this weekend with a note from Target saying they forgot to give me the coupon last year and there were 4 physical 10% off coupons inside. Of course they don’t work with LEGO ... but still useful.

I bought my Ruko TV with a 20% off coupon holiday time coupon in 2019. It's 32-34 inches, has a $25+ Ruko device in it, cost like $96. It's weird what you can and can't use Target coupons on. Still really useful for household things.

I have a Target RedCard and am Elite Plus at Best Buy. I've never gotten a birthday discount from either of them. I guess I slipped through the cracks

I hope they ship it in the original box inside another, we’ll see, keep us posted!
I don't understand why companies don't just ship the big sets in the boxes LEGO sent them in. They are strong boxes and fit the sets normally. (But I've never bought a $700 set before.)

We are getting a new Spiderman / Vemon set with Pork Grind and Iron Vemon.
Comes out April 1st. However it's already sold out and will never come back into stock. ;)

And let's not leave things at my mom's. She wrecked a very old, very expensive pot of mine, then claimed she didn't. I'm sure it was was a ghost, the cat or the mice.  :bomb:  But I could use the $700 LEGO box as a nice side table. :)

So ... who rushed out to buy all the Vidiyo sets? 😜

Is it true that LEGO will be selling the Amelia Earhart for $20 separately staring on March 6? I read that in an article but that’s not LEGO’s standard approach with bonus sets so I wasn’t sure.

They have never ever done that, so why would they start? They sometimes sold found stock months after a promo, like the classic train.

Saw them at Target last week...easy pass.
