LEGO Deals 3

Heh, one of the more surreal Lego product pictures I've seen.

Lego is releasing a bust based on a serial killer during Easter. Who doesn't want to be part of that?
It's being released after Easter.

Did anyone read the LEGO page....

  • This premium display model provides a stress-relieving diversion for model makers as Carnage gradually emerges from the LEGO® bricks.

Preorders are sold out now at Target.

It’s hard to say if it will be rare. Target had that exclusive coffee/donut stand set that stuck around for a long time and even hit their clearance cycles.
I have 6-8 of that set because they were $7.50 with a $10 giftcard off $50. Really a cute set.

I’m a huge fan of Carnage ... one of my favorite villains growing up ... and I’m gonna be that guy ... the eyes are wrong. Doesn’t scream Carnage to me ... looks like an attempt was made ... but it turned out to be ... a bust 😎

And damn it ... the Daily Bugle is probably my next purchase ... 😑

Because the parks are also meh? I went to the Florida one during a trip where I also hit up Disney, Universal, and Sea World. The Lego park was very dated and underwhelming
I took my 5 year old to Legoland California pre-covid. That was the perfect age since he was old enough to like the toys but not big enough to find the rides too kiddy. Then factor in price of ticket vs Disney and small lines meaning it was great experience. Now if it was just adults or teenage kids, then yea underwhelming. The best part, however, was staying in the hotel. Stuff for kids to do everywhere made it better than the Disney hotel.

Can anyone speak to how closely LEGO stores follow the no returns or exchanges without a receipt policy these days. I know back in the day they used to be super flexible about taking back any LEGO product (which probably led to tons of abuse) but it seems like they’ve now taken a hard line of no credit or exchanges without a receipt and even with a receipt if it’s valued over $200 they won’t let you return it? Seems extra strict since you can’t even return a set purchased online for anything other than credit in store now. Was hoping to turn a Harry Potter set into the new Winnie the Pooh set since they’re the same cost but seems like that could be a challenge with the new oddly strict policies.

Oh man I remember years ago then would let you return without a receipt as long as it was something they still currently carried in store. The last two times I tried I went 1/2.
February 2020 I went to my local LEGO store and tried to exchange a set and was denied. I said my son got a Christmas gift that he wanted to exchange but the manager said it was too far from Christmas at that point, so I think if I had gone closer to right after Christmas I may have succeeded.
I was successful in January of this year at the LEGO store in downtown Disney, exchanged the Wonder Woman set for an iron man set. The manager wasn’t going to at first, which I was fine with, then said she would make an exception this one time.

Oh and now I remember the year that the Disney train was on sale for Black Friday I was able to trade in a couple unopened sets towards that. But yeah at this point it’s kind of at the managers discretion.

I enjoyed building it. I prefer these sets where it's all contained on a base plate, as opposed to last year's temple where it was a bunch of smaller, loose dioramas.

It's a better general New Years set than most of them too, since the ox isn't really the focus. Would be really neat if they sold a tiger to go in the ox's place next year.

True ... to be honest I kind of prefer the non GWP rabbit they released for Easter this year. Might sell the weird carrot house and pick that up instead.
I'm thinking about buying that cute rabbit to get the freebie. I don't like the teddy bear but the rabbit is really nice.

You can get 3 gifts with purchase right now, but I'm not sure what the exact requirements are:

  • Amelia Earhart set for spending $100
  • Easter Bunny set for spending $60
  • Vidiyo sticker sheet for ??? - this got added to my cart when I tossed in a small City or Creator 3 in 1 set

The Harry Potter book must have ended. Looks like the stickers are added with any City set.

LEGO Rejected Ideas seems to be better than LEGO Ideas.

Will you modify the original LEGO Ideas design during production?

In the BrickLink Designer Program, we do not intend to change the original designs that are loved by the fans, but there can be inevitable modifications due to production requirements, such as part availability and stability issues. All design revisions will be done by the original designer, and the revision history will be shared on the project’s details page.
I want the boat.

I liked the exploratorium, I wish I would have picked up the castle the last time. O well, there’s a long list of missed opportunities.

I was about to place an order to get the little bunny freebie. I was debating spending $60 or $100. The neat little tan Easter bunny sold out within the last 5 minutes. It was the whole point of my order.  :wall: I'm hoping it comes back in stock like the Valentines Teddy Bear that comes back in June.

However I did figure out that the free stickers are for any City, Friends, or Creator set of $9.99 value. Doesn't work with the polybags.

There was a run on a bunch of LEGO sets ... Pooh sold out fast too ... and those limited edition VIP rewards prints went super fast. Probably all those stimulus checks hitting people’s accounts 😜. Luckily I talked myself out of getting the Pooh set (for now) ... but that new Spider-man set is going to be hard to resist if it actually is a full fledged modular. Also hoping for something really cool in May for Star Wars (maybe the rumored Darth Vader healing chamber?).

There was a rumour floating around Instagram on Star Wars freebies, 380 piece Star Destroyer. Also the massive Clone Wars Dropship will come out this year, 3500 pieces.

Supposed to get a $30 1960s Batmobile. Not a 4+ set.

What's the point of buying something right away? Like I want Sesame Street and I'm waiting for something free with $120 purchase. And then just hope it's still in stock.

First look at a Looney Tunes minifigure... I think it's a May release.

Picked up the Pooh set this morning.  Got the Easter chick poly GWP along with the carrot house.  They also got restocked on the Bonsai and Bouquet.  Grabbed one of each along with a Tuk Tuk.

So last week there was a Target 20% off sale on about 100 sets. It included Mario, City, Friends, Ninjago. This week Target is having a BOGO 40% off sale on Mario, City, NinjaGo and DOTS.

eBay also has a coupon code for $10 off of $30 YOUSAVETEN

This set was canceled by LEGO and the LEGO verse is going nuts.
LEGO-City-Crooks-Hideout-60278-2.jpg

Now I would never buy the set ($100), but it's the first 'full' City set in 30 years to have a roof and three complete walls and a road. Plus I like the little baddie car that LEGO never uses anymore. The seeing eye dog collar in black would have been an exclusive.

What I don't like is the bullshit lies LEGO keep saying. They should have just not said anything.

With LEGO City, we always aim to represent the reality of the world in a way that is fun, positive and appropriate for kids. With this in mind, we have decided not to launch this product as we no longer feel it is in keeping with the values of the LEGO City brand.
:dunce:

Bombs = bad; cops vs robbers = okay?

Or am I missing something
But Batman has bombs. All the themes have the most insane guns. Indiana Jones had generic Nazi and Soviet soldiers. LEGO just decided this week that they would cancel it?

I'm going to go out on a stretch that barely makes sense, so it fits right in.

It's a fireworks factory. China makes most fireworks. China banned Winnie the Pooh. LEGO set just came out. LEGO thinks it's bad to have Chinese fireworks connected to criminals in LEGO City. Asians are targets of hate crimes (Like that is a new thing.) All those things lead to LEGO pulling the plug. No need to watch Racheal Maddow or Alex Jones tonight.

Change firework on top to a coffee mug. The bottom floor could be a coffee roaster with a garage for the truck to drop off the beans. Upstairs is an apartment where the baddie steals the beans. Add small police car and boom you have yourself the plot of several of the modular buildings.

I’m having trouble keeping up with the latest outrages and the outrages over the latest outrages, but if the issue is the dynamite/fireworks factory, Lego literally had a dynamite-wielding dude in the 2020 advent calendar.

Yeah, that's what my problem is. LEGO could have simply canceled the set and said nothing. LEGO made a dynamite tile for the Wild West sets in 1995-6 and the piece since at least Power Miners 12 years ago. I just don't get what is different about this one set.

Is it confirmed that's a fireworks shop? Cuz that would seem to take away all the controversy. Or maybe since many cities have banned fireworks, that is controversially!

I think it's just dynamite. I was thinking some rebranding to a fireworks factory would be a nice work around.

I wanted to make a Poochie reference but I think only Itchy and Scratchy were headed to the fireworks factory. Poochie just showed up to spread his extreme recycling message. I'm not sure he was going to go to the fireworks factory too.

What difference does it make? All of NY and Massachusetts banned personal use fireworks. LEGO is coming out with Loony Tunes soon, maybe that needs to be canceled because of Acme makes dynamite.

In 1982(?), sometime in the 80s, the Philly PD BOMBED a house of what they called terrorists using a helicopter. The bomb started a massive fire and when the firefighters went to put it out the police stopped them. The police waited until the fire destroyed the black neighborhood before letting the firefighters in.

Should LEGO ban every single police helicopter?

The set is fine. I was just trying to understand what LEGO was actually calling it - fireworks shop, dynamite factory, something else? The image didn't tell me so my guess was fireworks shop. Dynamite is fine because plenty of sets already have them. Funny that Loony Tunes sets are coming because those must have dynamite to be authentic.

It was called "Crooks' Hideout Raid".

Loony Tunes is a minifigure series of 12 and not a series of sets.

Just got mine in the other day from the LEGO store and it’s amazing how much detail they included in this set. Comparing it to something like the Assembly Square from a few years ago, this is way more detailed and filled with unique pieces. Hopefully the new Marvel modular will apply the same level of detail that the Chinese New Year sets have.

In other news, pretty sure the new Probe droid will be my May 4 buy, assuming the give away this year is cool.

Some more rumours. A new $100+ FRIENDS TV SERIES set. No one probably cares. Comes out in June or July.

More important rumour. The Daiily Bugle will include The Fantastic Four, Punisher and Daredevil.

Some great minifigures coming out. Some Harry Potter cat figure, a neat NinjaGo underwater baddie and a beautiful 60s Joker.

If it's still in stock then...

Hmm, kind of an odd combination of Spider-man and venom with the Fantastic 4 thrown in. Daredevil kind of makes sense but I’d rather see a few more Spider-Man villains. Assuming the J. Jonah Jameson figure is pretty much a given.

The Bridge Battle set from a few years ago is still one of my all time favorites from a design and included characters standpoint.

Very YMMV, but for those collecting the Super Mario sets, I managed to find the Boomer Bill (71366) for $12.99 on clearance at my local Best Buy today. The store also had the Piranha Plant Power Slide (71365) for $12.99, as well as three of the first series Power-Up packs -- Propeller (71371), Fire (71370), and I forget which was the third but think it was Builder (71373) -- for $4.99. These were not with the LEGOs but in a separate clearance aisle. I saw only one Boomer Bill (which I bought) and one Piranha Plant (which I left), and quite a lot of each Power-Up pack.
